>Massively popular
>Objectively shit game
What gives?
(No Hate. What course will the game take?)
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds
>Massively popular
YOU BET IT IS
>Objectively shit game
KYS!!!!
>What gives?
maybe ur fuckinf stupid??????
>What course will the game take?
same thing that happens to all open world survival games
>game stuck in early access limbo
>shitty updates or lack thereof
>players get mad and leave for the next big open world survival game thinking that it'll be different this time
The game is popular because it gives normies the illusion of success. It's a very impressive idea. They feel like they're good or like they did well because they were able to simply survive and make top 20 or top 10 due to sheer luck. They got lucky with minimal encounters or got lucky with zone placements. This makes normies feel like victory is within reach so they keep playing over and over again.
Name one game thats massively popular that isn't shit.
A half-realized product is good enough when the public latches onto the the idea behind it.
>little over a month until the Xbox release
Not a survival game though
At least know what you're talking about
What is this image?
I only watched Pewdiepie playing it and it looked pretty fun. What makes it shit?
have i been cursed
>i only play indie games from 20 years ago to be cool
>I watched Pewdiepie
The horrendous netcode, easily "hackable" (script use) game, mostly client side, poor performance, massive amount of game breaking bugs, etc. Again, from an objective view
...
The game is fun. It caters to many different playstyles, and has appeal for both casual and more serious players. It has games for solos and squad play, it has servers for first person and third person. No shitty survival mechanics, each game plays out differently due to how the elements work together, the random weather is fun, the shooting mechanics are good, you will always be instantly put into a match with 90-100 players the second you hit the matchmaking button.
Why do people act like the games success is such a mystery? It's the best at what it does right now. Eventually someone will likely do it better, but for now if you want a battle royale game, this is it.
Jesus christ
I just hope the genre doesnt die out before a bigger, better company gets hold of it. bluehole is trash but its the best at the genre right now
>I just hope the genre doesnt die out before a bigger
There's zero chance of that. Pubg won't even die out until serious competition is released.
It's much more likely that Blizzard, EA, and Ubisoft are all working on their own "Battle Royale" projects right this very second.
because it is still a relatively fledgling sub-genre that has yet to be fully exploited
eventually a major studio is going to deliver the same experience with better optimization and quality of life and the playerbase will jump ship en masee
>objectively
You've piqued my interest, please elaborate.
I've never played the game.
>What course will the game take?)
Endless early access phase like DayZ. They'll just keep raking in money while taking ages to optimize their game due to incompetence, then they'll use that as an excuse to keep it in early access.
The game has to deal with poor optimization, sometimes causing a 100% usage bug for your cpu and gpu. This bug can happen to any kind that you have, new or old, AMD or Intel. The netcode and uptick for the servers is terrible. 17 on average and 8 at the start of matches. In 2017, 30 should be the minimum for an online shooter and it canr even hit that. Its worse than Battlefield 4's launch servers. The game is mostly handled client side and that allows for hackers to prosper at the moment. There are no server side checks for basic things such as running speed. The game is easily "broken" and it allows for ESP, aimbot, speed hacks, entire server lag, and instant kill across the entire map. The Chinese influx of players has brought cheating to an all time high and BlueHole refuses to respond to this. The game is full of broken physics as well. Hitting a wall with a car can cause a collision issue and make the car explode, killing you instantly. If you spent 20+ minutes looting and playing, it's gone in an instant thanks to that bug. There is still an issue with damage and bullets ignoring armor, allowing for near instant kills, which was supposed to be patched out. There is no shortage of bugs that I could talk about but this is long enough as is.
So much of the game comes down to luck it can make a garbage player feel good.
Oh you've got good reflexes and are good at shooters? Doesn't matter. You got unlucky with the loot Spawn.
Some mediocre player spawned near helmets that negate headshots and an automatic rifle. They have the upper hand on a dice roll.
Unless that guy is an incompetent idiot he will kill you.
He literally knows nothing about the game and only hates it because its popular and he can fit in by hating the popular thing.
There are legitimate reasons to hate the game but that user is just retarded.
It's a good game. Sup Forums hating anything popular doesn't make it bad.
I feel like multiplayer games don't really rely on quality.
Lots of absolutely stellar games die off before they should while medicore games surpass them in longevity and player base.
I think this is because the majority of a game's playerbase is not competitive or enthusiastic but instead just people wanting to casually waste some time.
Games like Overwatch and PUBG satisfy this largest audience by offering short but involved games with a small learning curve and lots of cosmetic items to unlock.
I play both these games despite them not being very good, they just strike the right balance between short bursts of fun and mindless gameplay that you can enjoy for only 5-30 minutes.
I'd probably compare these types of games to the Marvel movies, everyone is aware they're not masterpieces but they consistently satisfy the hugest audiences, you know what to expect and you can just "turn your brain off" and enjoy it.
>devs literally catering to streamers and banning people who kill streamers because that's how you market a game now
>mfw killing lv3 helmet + M416 player who landed on the same building before me with a crossbow
Asian scum is what gives.
Game always peaks players at asian peak hours.
things that never happened
>Objectively shit game
>I don't like it so it's shit
Classic Sup Forums.
>INB4 anyone replies to me saying "b-but it's janky and buggy..."
Mighty fucking rich coming from the board where literally every single poster is guaranteed to have New Vegas, Mount and Blade, STALKER, and/or Deus Ex in their fucking 3x3
The game is great. I'm convinced 90% of the people trashing on it are just fucking bad and need to get good. Yeah, it has flaws and is still in a rough state, but I haven't had this much competitive fun since Halo 2-3.
preach nigga
It's getting banned in China because it doesn't represent socialist values
Funny since I own 0 of those games and this is the 1st time I ever post on Sup Forums. If I wanted to hate, I'd talk shit but I've merely stated the facts and was hoping for discussion so...
Not true. China just said they were contemplating banning these types of games, explicitly for "excessive violence." You're retarded if you think they're gonna let PUBG die in china. If worst comes to worst, there's an exclusive version for China, like German TF2 where people explode into hamburgers and duckies instead of guts and gore.
Man, I can't wait to see retards parroting this dumb shit in literally every PUBG thread from here on out. Sorry, this isn't another TORtanic.
>Funny since I own 0 of those games and this is the 1st time I ever post on Sup Forums.
>hoping for discussion so...
>Calls the game "objectively shit"
>"No hate"
China.
China is the reason why it's so popular.
>Literally Sup Forums's dream game (no history, no DLC, cosmetics can be bought in game, pure gameplay driven game where the players make the game)
>hate it because it's popular
What gives?
Because it is? You can't convince me it's an amazing technical masterpiece. I say objectively shit because it's buggy as hell. Subjective, you can enjoy it and I won't criticize. I've had my run of the game and I'm looking at how it can pan out, as well as looking for the thoughts of other to gather information on its current standing.
>Sup Forums hates e-celebs
>game caters explicitly to e-celebs and their viewers
Hating by saying truth about it's poor technical state? K
>Sup Forums hates e-celebs
Am I missing something because there's loads of e-celeb drama/dick-riding threads every day.
>OP doesn't realize it's the current year
>indie games
top kek it's past your bed time
18fps
>tfw you sell the pre order outfit for 3000 steam bucks
>Being kinda buggy makes it "objectively shit"
That's not how it works.
>mount and blade warband is buggy.
poor animations doesn't mean buggy.
even the animations being "poor" is questionable because they're that way for very legitimate gameplay reasons.
The comparison videos between the Xbox and Playstation versions will be intere........oh....right.
So you just ignore all the reasons I list that are valid and twist some words I said?
>"kinda buggy"
Nah. It's pretty fucking buggy
>i have either console
>Nah. It's pretty fucking buggy
Yeah, and yet that really doesn't get in the way of the fact that it's a massively fun, massively popular game enjoyed by millions of gamers worldwide, daily.
Glad we could agree that technical faults are just one aspect of a game and don't make up the whole.
>game is a fuckfest on PC and hasn't seen any major improvements for like 2 months
>console release is in a month btw
>most of win 3.1 games and sharewares distributed in BBS weren't indies
I know what you meant in your post though
I'm sure console kids won't care when they get it for Christmas or if someone gifts it to them. I'm sure many of them can't wait to play since it's the only game everyone talks about. It reminds me of Minecraft.
The only problem that make the game unfun is hackers. If they can get that shit under control I don't give a fuck.
