People abusing flaws in game mechanics to go faster, further, stronger, whatever; just to set a quicker time.

At least, that's what I see all the time, over the past few years when i've seen the most popular speedrunning event in the world. the games done quick charity stream or shit like that.

Smaller games are often run with less autism and less glitches. Terranigma any% or magirock% is my personal favorite. 3-4 hours of legitimate gameplay with next to no bug abuse.

Non-glitch/tool-assissted speedruns are a thing. Also time attacks/time trials, while not usually a complete speedrun of a game, might be your thing. Can even be competitive, which makes it basically a race for better times.

Repetitive actions and near perfect accuracy is required for speedruns, sometimes a memory of enemy movement patterns and actions is essential too. They're often sat there for HOURS and if they fuck it up they will start again immediately. I've seen streamers speedrun Dark Souls 3 and they've spent an entire day just taking less than 5 minutes off their time.

You cannot be a normal human being and a speedrunner, you need to be on the spectrum.

I speedrun Mighty No9 and there's a pretty cool glitch other runners and myself exploit that makes you completely invincible, it even makes you immune to knockback. So you just run through enemies as if they aren't even there.

I'll be the first to say that it's pretty bullshit, it is "cheating," but the few other people who run the game do it as well and the trick actually does require a little finesse. Once you got a knack for it though, it's easy and you can do every time. It's grown on me, I think it's fun to do and fun to dash through the levels that you can do this on as quickly as possible.

You don't have to go for the fucking world record user, some people like myself just do it to beat our own personal goals. If you've played a game to the point of mastering it, it's fun to start setting goals for future playthroughs instead of just mindlessly playing the game casually every time with no goals in mind.

What should be considered a glitch? Like, do you consider speed boosting actions a glitch? I've watched Mirror's Edge stitched WR speedrun the other day and it was crazy - they wallrunned off of distant buildings like it was designed that way.
