What are the games on this thing even a casual like myself can enjoy?
Already played and beat Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Kirby Super Star, and ALTTP as a kid. Gave up on DKC and Mega Man X after a while because they were too hard. Contra and Super Ghouls and Ghosts I haven't even tried due to their reputation.
Aiden Lopez
>tfw I want one but they're €100 at almost every retailer here which is just retarded
Leo Phillips
>Gave up on DKC and Mega Man X after a while because they were too hard.
Do today's gamers consider DKC hard?
Christian Morris
is super metroid on it? i think that game isnt too hard from memory as long as you farm enough
Carson Powell
My dad works for Super Nintendo and he told me they should be getting an update with over 300 games!
Chase Hernandez
donkey kong country is easy
the only games i would consider casual besides the one you mentioned are super mario kart, super punch out, and f zero. if you want to give an rpg a try, check out earthbound -- it's pretty easy but also great.
Benjamin Smith
DKC only really gets hard around the middle end of the game. The casual filters are minecart carnage followed by the forest barrel level.
I beat DKC and Megaman X first. I'd actually say the hidden world levels of Super Mario World are actually harder than both of those games.
The only hard part of Megaman X really is Sigma 2, and only because Rolling Shield is a garbage weapon, and you have to stand in exactly the right spots on his hands to avoid damage. Super Castlevania IV is the next game to finish for me. That gets pretty hard in the last few levels. I've almost beaten it.
Aiden Perry
This shit has savestates, no game is hard with savestates. Super Mario RPG is a pretty basic but fun rpg, F-Zero has the right challenge curve, same as starfox, pretty good arcadey feel.
Also you can hack it easily and just add whatever you like.
Isaiah Thomas
why would anyone buy this when bsnes exists?
Christian Smith
convenience nostalgia That's why I got one
Gavin Cox
a raspberry pi variant and an SNES shell + controller cost less and give you more.
Nathan Cruz
Just get a fucking homebrew raspberry pi. They aren't hard to build yourself and you can upload the entire NES, SNES, Master System and Genesis libraries on them.
Kevin Hernandez
You can plug it in a TV easily.
Also it works with Retroarch and thus lets you play NES, Genesis, Gameboy, GBC, GBA, N64 and PC engine along adding new SNES games and romhacks/japanese translated games
Ryder Morris
Starfox 2 is alright, they shouldn't have clogged it up with both games, just having SF2 would have been fine since it's an improvement over the first. Legend of the Mystical Ninja is extremely fun and isn't incredibly over the top difficult.
Jayden Reed
Having controllers that just work when you plug them in is good. As is it playing nice with TVs and Monitors.
I used a Pi before as an emulator box when travelling. Setting it up can be a real pain in the ass at times.
Aiden Parker
Added my curated list of SNES and Genesis games, still have 100mb left.
Christopher Reyes
Fucking fucking fuckers why did they add in fucking Kirby's Dream Course and eliminate Fire Emblem and Mystical Ninja?
Samuel Scott
this just werkz with literally fucking everything and is just as good as a real one though.
Juan Scott
Probably because some people actually have friends and they wanted fun multiplayer games on it?
Benjamin Rogers
>got one >not really interested in it >learn its easily hacked >can fucking emulate other condoles, even PS1 and Saturn games >exploited the shit out of it
Connor Baker
I'm not refuting the controller user. It's the setup process that's a pain. Some emulators in retropie like MAME, Reicast and Mupen64plus you have to manually set up. And trust me, they are a pain in the ass for certain controllers like the 360 ones.
Setting everything up remotely via an FTP terminal for my arcade machine that uses and IPAC2 so there uses keyboard input is a pain in the ass.
The SNES classic is pretty painless, the hacking process is really painless too. The interface looks nice, it consumes a ridiculously low amount of power (like 2-3 volts), so you can literally run it off a portable battery pack for hours if you ever got caught short of power sockets in a hotel room. (which in euro-zone happens a lot)
It has it's perks. I only paid £60 for mine as well. Beat a few games on it. It's worth it.
Angel Stewart
>Can't beat DKC or MMX
You're well below casual, OP.
Eli Russell
>omg just get a raspberry pi
How about just download snes9x and boom there you go. Done. You didn't spend anything.
Henry Perry
i knew that you can add your own games but emulating other systems? how does this work?
Elijah Perez
You can add Retropie to it. But I sort of refute how well it does Saturn games though. I've never seen that in action. It can barely handle any N64 games outside of a few of them. It's not that powerful. I've seen it play Ridge Racer that was ultra condensed to 4mb. The memory is only like 250mb on it. You can add quite a lot to it, but I'd personally just keep to 2D consoles.
