honestly it's fucking bizarre, lawbreakers which is probably the best of the lot is the most dead as well. I can't believe anyone likes Paladins, maybe it's changed a lot in the last year or so since I played but it was honestly complete crap. Battleborn was crap but at least it had like full campaign and some degree of mechanical depth, gigantic was crap but it looked alright at least and the idea was decent, Lawbreakers is a bit crap but at least the guns and interactions are kinda interesting adn so is low gravity. Paladins has nothing, everything about it is stale and the card system is complete shit

Lawbrakers has absolutely horrendous aesthetics.
When Evolve was first being shilled, I remember seeing gameplay and saying to myself

But I liked the controls and how everyone played. There was a real solidness to the movement that I enjoyed and how combat flowed.
Removing stamina costs really made the game good to me.

Gigantic had it all. First real hybrid between genres. With unique art style and superb animations. Of course it was late to the party and missing some important QoL features, but it didn't deserved this fate.

Maybe it all comes to waifus and marketing, while quality of the game itself doesn't matter that much.

Hi-Rez at least patches and updates the game often enough to keep it refreshing. Blizzard waits for a quarter of a year before fixing an issue they themselves created.

It's F2P and Hirez might have some goodwill left with some people. Take Smite for example with their somewhat decent pricing option, pay 25$ once and get all the heroes now and in the future. You still would have to buy skins and shit if you wanted but at least all the gameplay is yours now and forever. But I'm sure they went with a much more jewish scheme for Paladins.

I am only playing Paladins because it's free and a few real life friends play it too, otherwise I wish I could play pre-hat TF2 again.

Paladongs does have a buy all heroes option for 20 dollarydoos, but there's like 4 currencies now. Gold to buy generic chests and heroes with, crystal as premium credit, essence for unlocking cards and VIP points for another store.

I don't like loot boxes but I think Paladins did alright with theirs. Cards come out of the basic boxes you can buy for easily earned currency and the premium currency/real money boxes only offer cosmetic shit. I haven't played in a while (since Zhin and the crystal rifle girl were released) but I never had trouble getting enough gold and purple goo for the good cards on my top 5 heroes.

He's as strong as any other healer if your team cooperates and/or you know how to play him. And he can put up some sicknasty damage with the right loadout and team comp. He's just got a higher skill ceiling than Grover or Seris because you can whiff his potion flask and have to multitask between support, damage and flank.

HiRez learned how to market a product after Tribes failed to make money. They realized theres a valuable niche market to take advantage of and thus they did. With Paladins everyone was calling an OVerwatch rip-off and they said "okay" which let them gain the 3rd world audience.

Blizzard actually loves to go through periods where they change the game constantly, then the second they stop on a meta that's utterly cancerous and unfun to play, they "want to see the community work with the meta for a while". It's practically self-sabotage. They let infestor/broodlord deal a mortal blow to Starcraft 2 purely because zerg players whined it was their turn to be OP.

But Paladins is a decent game, and I always find matches quickly.
I've been playing a lot lately and my only complain is that the Flank heroes are so fun that I never feel like playing a Tank or a Healer.
Also Lex is best character.

When that happens I'm usually the loser that switches before the lock. I use Ruckus when tank and Seris when healer. I still don't like them that much, I'm thinking about buying Makoa and snake dude/cosmic rifle dude.

Blizzard's patching style is just outdated at this point, slow massive patches might work when you're the only player on the block.
