Can you recommend me a good RPG for a beginner? I've just finished South Park: The Stick of Truth and I've found it a bit easy.
Can you recommend me a good RPG for a beginner...
Matt and Trey played Chrono Trigger to get an idea of how RPGs are supposed to be when they developed that game.
JRPG: chrono trigger
ARPG: Skyrim
Both have simple mechanics and narratives suitable for beginners
Get the fuck in there and play Megaten. Get ready to scream and cry and summon some goddamn demons. None of that pussy Persona shit. Get in first person and die.
I guess I'll try Chrono Trigger since it's and JRPG and I've just finished an ARPG
I like the premise of RPGs , I don't want to lose my will to play by playing something hard right off the bat. Thanks anyways :)
Star Wars KotOR
Divinity 2 Dev's Cut
Jade Empire
Dragon Age Origins
Shadowrun Dragonfall
Chrono Trigger is basically JRPG-lite. Good and not super long. There are lots of version of it out now, the later ones have little anime cut scenes which is neat.
Sup Forums actually being helpful wtf
If you liked it, I would recommand you the Paper Mario series (mostly the N64 and NGC ones, you can emulate them on PC). They are usually kindda funny and have basically the same mechanics, with a low to moderate challenge (though harder than South Park).
If you like JRPG maybe you could try some Tales of (I've always find that IP pretty boring but some like these), Final Fantasy 6, 7, X and 12 or maybe Xenoblade. Chrono Trigger is old, but it's still a very solid pick even by today's standards. I guess you could also give a chance to Mother 3 on GBA emulator. For me, it is seriously a top contender for one of the best JRPG ever. When you'll grow a bit more expermiented you should definitely get into the SMT saga though and I'd also recommend Baten Kaitos and its prequel.
Western RPG are also great, KOTOR 1 and 2 are amongst my favorites games. Skyrim like the other user said is also a pretty good entry, and you'll be playing it for tons of hours. You could also play The Witcher series. The first one is a bit strange in terms of gameplay and don't have much in common with the other 2 (they are a bit more action oriented), but it's a very good trilogy.
I decided I'll play Chrono Trigger , thanks guys! (:
Oblivion is a good one to get into
I was completely shut off to playing RPGs until I played Oblivion; there's loads of great quests that you actually feel like you WANT to do because the premises are interesting and there's a difficulty slider so you can adjust as you go along
>jew class is OP as fuck
What did they mean by this?
Damn the Dark Brotherhood quests were so good in Oblivion.
Everything is OP as fuck, in fact even shit not tied to a Class is OP as fuck (Darts,a fucking level 3 weapon, With Fire/Gross patch for example ir more then enough to cheese 90% of the game)
I've played as the Thief and I could literally go through the game with only using one ability and one buddy (I haven't picked anyone else except for Cartman and Butters until the final boss battle where I was forced to play with them)
Final Fantasy X is pretty simple and is also turn based like SoT. There's a lot of cutscenes though which can be good or bad.
It's also pretty challenging on your first playthrough, but starting easy as every rpg does.
Mother 3
Paper Mario 1 and 2, both have very similar gameplay mechanics to Stick of Truth, but both being much longer and slightly deeper gameplay mechanics.
Jew can kill everything with just one attack tho.
The sequel is better though, Great gameplay and the lighthearted "plot" is hilarious when coming from MUH SPIRAL OF DEATH
YOU GIVE BACK YUNIES GARMENT GRID RIGHT NOW!
Sup Forums rec threads are usually pretty good and newfag friendly in general. It's sad that Sup Forums can't learn from it.
For WRPG Dragon Age Origin and The Witcher 3 are probably the best entry points, for JRPG I'd say FFX.
>be Jew
>Cartman as companion
>have perks that deal extra damage to bleeding and fully upgraded Plagues of Egypt
>combat
>use Plagues of Egypt x4 for bleeding
>use Cartman's Burning Cloud ability
>hit for at least 12K damage every time on all enemies
>??????
>profit
Stop listening to that wanker only first half of SMT I is bullshit hard. For the rest you have more information to prepare yourself and the encounter rate is manageable if your are not actively suicidal.
Also
Treasure of Rudras has objectively greatest magical system in any rpg (with Arx Fatalis being close contender) magic is versatile language with roots that determine effects, suffixes that determine area of effect and force and prefixes that add random effectsw with you being able to use or even improve spells enemies use with storytelling that should be used more often four parallel storylines that actually interact
Another South Park rpg is coming out callled South Park: Phone Destroyer, which i think takes place after Fractured But Whole. Its for mobile phone though. And guess what, you (the player) are still douchebag/buttlord.
Don't listen to him, SMT I is pretty dated and the series as a whole is pretty hard compared to other jrpgs.
Of you wanna get into smt start with IV it starts out pretty rough, but by the end of the first dungeon it os pretty much smooth sailing from there.
You can also try out persona 4 golden or 5 those are pretty easy too and you might like the school sim aspects of it.
It's a survival tactic at this point. So many of 2017's JRPGs were boring. The sad thing is that western action RPGs keep improving. If we ever see a Witcher 4, it will decimate FFXV and Persona 5.
