N-No! Of course not!
My creation is p-p-p-perfect!

I think it's cute
looks gay as fuck.

I'm working on a better surrender flare setup.
...Jesus
u jelly of my orb swanging skills?
Have you considered using tracks to transport them around the outside instead of passing them between swangin arms?
Anyone here beat 62 cycles on refined gold?
Post warming potions
I'm too embarrassed, it took me 281 cycles
Not good enough. Tracks by themselves only allow you 6 cycles (2 to grab or let go, 2 for movement, and 2 to return). Considering the size of the flare itself you would need to have multiple arms on a larger track to give you more movement in the time you have. When you're trying to max input large connected orbs tracks take up too much room.
What do you guys usually try to minimize?
...
Cycles where inputs arent being used. If you can manage with a constant flow of input then you can maximize productivity

Oh yeah, baby. Down to 27!
I found this one surprisingly difficult
Just finished it for the first time

Are you japanese?
Tried a speedier one for the first time. I don't know why, but toying around especially with the airship fuel is something that keeps me getting back to it.

pls r8
>tfw you're no longer a brainlet
Not bad. You're using each generator twice for each output, but your input isn't capped. You're also spending a lot of cycles moving it around. Condensing your design after you've gotten more experience with other puzzles will be easier.
How does this guy manage to make endless ammounts of good games so fast?
I consider myself somewhat of an intellectual but this game looks intimidating
>tfw they introduce double and triple bonds
This is the moment i knew i fucked up
There are two arms not doing anything
go away costfag
Puzzle games are relatively easy to make, especially when you have experience with them.
So I tried
zachtronics.com
since steam revies said it's kind of the demo to this, I played the first five levels but it starting going over my head quickly, but then again you can only move in 4 directions instead of having hex cells.
Given that Zachtronics games hardly ever go on sale, should I just buy the game right now instead of waiting for the next sale?
Yeah I noticed that too but I didn't bother posting a new version.
Yeah that one can get tricky.
I think the hardest part is coming up with an actual concept that is enticing and isn't just another bejeweled rip off
Can't wait til i unbrainlet myself

I still haven't got good at this game.
>tfw too brainlet for this

How do I master long arm game?
The long arms were only necessary because of the size of the input. I couldn't devise a way to condense my board. The more shit you can fit into a tiny space the less moving you have to do overall and the faster your builds get. See for my improvements. Notice how now the orbs I'm moving are almost crashing with every cycle.
Post your most disgusting solution
>not just making one long ass track with a single piston doing all the work step by step
Does this look correct or can I shorten this? I'm kind of confused about how repeating instructions work. I repeated this for all six cycles that were needed to make gold.
I'll post the gif.
...
I'm working on a seriously bad solution right now. Assuming I finish, I'd probably need to upload the gif elsewhere as there is no way it'd fit 4chins file size limit
put another arm directly beneath the glyph to shovel quicksilver into the glyph faster
The amount of cycles every machine will be subject to depends on the longest amount of cycles in between the first and last instruction of any given machine.
Example: If you have a lever on a 4 cycle (grab, turn left, let go, turn right) and another on a 6 cycle (grab, turn left, turn left, let go, turn right, turn right), then the first lever will have 2 blank instructions added to it afterwards.
If it's your goal to have the first lever go as fast as possible you'll need to add a repeating instruction at the end of the first lever. Doing so will add 2 greyed out spaces at the end of the second lever because now there are 8 cycles happening and the 6 will have a pause at the end. You can continue to add repeating instructions until the first lever has 12 cycles and the second lever has 12 cycles. The first lever will repeat 3 times and the second lever will repeat twice. If this causes your machine to crash you can essentially bring everything back to a 4 cycle repetition by adding a redundant second lever with staggered timing, so instead of one lever doing 6 cycles of work, you can have two levers doing essentially the same function twice in 6 cycles (cutting it down to 3 each) which is under 4 with a manual pause or reposition added at the end of each of their instructions.
>27 cycles
Thanks for the tips. I moved to the next one, check this out. I'm actually surprised how fast I was able to get this done because the refined gold felt like it took an hour to solve.
too slow
I don't think so but you can do it for 10 less gold
I love it when a plan comes together.
These new journal puzzles are fucking with my head
still too slow
But you guys spent more gold and I have no idea how you made those
Fuck this game it makes me feel stupid
>Costfags
Nothing better than exploding your budget just to shave a single cycle
here is hangover in 39
My first solution that tries to use the reagent cap... It took me way too long, I can see why people make it out to be a challenge
and here in only 38
Anything to shave off a few.
STOP MAKING ME FEEL STUPID
maybe you'd be smarter if you spent more time playing video games and less time shitposting
Who /retarded but still playing/ here?
BRAINLETS REPORT IN
post your purified golds (note: purified, not refined)
mine is too big for Sup Forums, so I uploaded it elsewhere: my.mixtape.moe
Would be faster to just go digging for it.

>tfw brainlet
170? Holy crackers.
...
Hey, man. I'm trying to get mine down to 20.
Particularly happy how my 2 input airship ended up looking like
It just works.
I thought it was better to use low cost than low cycles. Wouldn't a high cost make everything really easy?
First attempts at shit do that to me all the time too.
>first thought was some weird abomination instead of a pyramid
I just don't understand
>Wouldn't a high cost make everything really easy?
This looks easy?
low cycle machines make money faster so even if they're more expensive they make back the initial investment far faster than a cheap slow machine
Throwing money at problems definitely feels almost like cheating. For me the only viable way to double the price of something is if I can drop something else to about a half of the original.
In my solution each part uses only 4 commands that repeat endlessly until it just works. That was my goal here.
But one of you first assignement is litterally to create gold
Do you need a low cycle machine when you're making small custom delievery shit like makeup for some countess though?
It would be different if there were actual benefits in game to meeting certain solution criteria. As it is right now it's up to you to decide how to focus your effort because an absurd Rube Goldberg marble machine is treated exactly the same as a precision machine with perfect cycles.
yes

mine's a bat
Isn't that why we're here to laugh at each other?
How to improve this brainletism
I'm here for the pussy.
and the 20 cycle 3 output version
One of my proudest contraptions
Can I scroll the input bar? I can put more but they go off of the screen
feel like I really made a breakthrough with this one
roast me with coils guys I think need to be put back in my place
Easier than a low cost solution, yes
