Shouldn't certain legendary Pokemon be infinitely more powerful than any human could ever wish to be? If so what's stopping them from taking over the world?

Pokemon aren't evil, they're either willing to help humans or are just neutral entities at worst.
Legendaries just want to hang out in peace, taking over the world would do nothing for them, obvious exceptions being Groudon and Kyogre, but even then, those two were just trying to fulfill their roles and ended up clashing.

It's nearly as railroaded as SM and half the dex should just be previous mons, not the terrible ripoffs we got (why does Woobat even exist, if not to fill the Zubat niche?), not to mention the huge focus on story without actually improving in terms of writing makes it really obnoxious.

I still like it more than SM but mostly for superficial reasons. Most people who dislike SM for legitimate reasons give BW a pass for no real reason.
Also if anything the Ranger series isn't bad, fuck you.

It's funny because I like BW for the exact opposite reasons. I really enjoyed that they only included new pokemon and maybe wished they didn't add old pokemon in postgame. Pokemon would feel more fresh and balanced if they only had new pokemon each gen.
