Did this really need prequels?

Did this really need prequels?

Nah

No. Looking back at Human Revolution I'm actually disappointed with it. They tried to go for their own thing loosely connected with the original game, which works sure, but it's impact could have been more worthwhile.
>Bob page limited to tiny cameos
>Manderley is limited to emails
>Everett is mentioned, Montreal hub is cut
>NSF mentioned, but would have been more interesting to see
>Adam is the link into bioaugmentation, but it only develops towards the end of the game.

That's just scratching the surface. Good game, but wasted potential.

Haven't played MD but one thing I always liked was how primitive the future of Deus Ex felt. Edios Montreal went full retarded when it came to some of the tech. I guess the collapse explains it?

Not at all. Especially since the prequels were all style over substance where Deus Ex was substance over style.

No game that tells a complete story needs a sequel or prequel, but at the same time if it tells a good story people will probably want more.

You have a board for old games, fuck off.

No, it was absolutely perfect as a standalone game.

This faggot right here.

No, what people really wanted were more games in the same vein as Deus Ex

Enjoy your underage b& you cockmongling faggot

No, especially not by a studio who obviously wishes they were making something entirely different.

Let me honestly ask, how many games, movies, books, stories in general really need prequels at all?

the ride never ends

It can work if someone writes a fantasy/sci-fi story with a major event that happened in the past, so they write a prequel set during that time. I can't think of a single story that was executed well enough that it's better than just leaving it to the reader's imagination, though.

My biggest problem with HR and MD is they feel more futuristic than the first game.

Homo revolution should have been it's own series instead of cannon

don't know what you're talking about, there are only 2 DX games: Deus Ex and Deus Ex: Invisible War

Okay okay, I'll be generous, add Deus Ex: The Conspiracy to the list

Just like project snowblind.

The Fall felt like more of a true prequel then HR or MD did...but it's unfortunate that the game itself was garbage.

how

Just the feel of it I guess.

Not really.
However, the problem is that they decided to put in "muh future tech" before any of it makes fucking sense.

No, but a prequel can be neat. Unfortunately the prequels they made seemed to want to skirt the original. A prequel to Deus Ex set during the 2030s following MJ12 shenanigans would've been neat.

>the feel of
stupid cuck

Oh fuck off, user. Seeing it from the tyrants perspective felt more like a lead up to the likes of Gunther and Anna, and the set up and conspiracy felt more like a mystery than anything HR threw our way. Thing is they had the ability to do it in Montreal but they decided to drop that entire portion just so we can find more “MUH GF’S REVENGE”

No, prequels were a mistake. But a sequel was an abomination. The whole point of multiple endings is to let you choose what future you want to create. Unless they made 3 different games based on the 3 endings, they shouldn't have done any more.

star wars

invisible war wasn't completely terrible, it was just too blackpilled in terms of the story and setting and so distant from the first deus ex in terms of aesthetic. If it had bigger levels or even just less loading screens and a better ui it wouldn't be such a depressing package. I don't know how the fuck you would even continue invisible war though.

>2000
>old
fuck you

No, of course not, but they're alright all the same.
