But once the female transformation was confirmed in the DLC, I went and got it. Only took me two days to get Ginchiyo transformation and I finished the rest of the game including DLCs with her.

Premade protags are good if they aren't passive pushovers in cutscenes like Wirriam and most jrpg lads.

You earn glory in this game for doing pvp, co op or fighting revenants (players dying in their own world leaves a grav at the spot you can choose to summon. Revenants to fight to get their equipment, ochoko cups used to co-op and glory)

There are also NPC revenants for offline players but not as many

Once you are in the 2nd region, you can unlock a place called Hidden Teahouse that lets you trade glory for special items and transformations some of which are female. Female costs insane amounts of glory because Team Ninja knows you are a horny faggot so either do it by spamming 2v2 pvp and hope someone carries you, or turn your brain off and farm insane amount of player revenants

Cutscenes still show you as Willkam but at least you can be one of five grills for normal gameplay and online

Why are people this autistic in 2017? It's easier to write better plot and more interesting questlines when you play as a set character. Otherwise you get uninspired shit like "hey vaultdweller, dragonborn, etc,. go get these items because it is your destiny catered around your playstyle"

You earn something like 5k (or was it 8k??) for winning a 2v2. 3k for winning 1v1

But this was early on in game's life cycle. I believe they added a new pvp mode where equipment are normalized so it's more even, not sure how much this mode gives

Also weekly Clan battle gives you 9k if you are aligned with the winning side.

I bought NiOh on a normal Thursday night and had Ginchiyo (70k) by late Saturday. I do admit I got carried a lot in 2v2s by being shitter rank from losing during my first few matches and then being paired with a higher ranked partner because a that's how the system evens out the teams. The normal pvp mode (not the equalized one) has no restrictions so you could be a lvl 60 shitter fighting against people who are hundreds of lvls above you or you could be lucky and get paid with one who steamrolls the enemy team. But again, this was earlier on, I have no idea how the new equalized pvp mode they added later works besides equipment being normalized

From what I remember, the Battle of Skill mode gives you set equipment and items based on your first equipped weapon along with equalized stats, no mystic arts or clan bonuses, and guardian spirits are at their base levels too.

The whole 'Historical' part of the game is complete bullshit, fully detached from the gameplay and adds nothing of value.

They were sitting on an IP for a William game, maybe even had the story outline and script already then decided to just make it into a souls clone and had to add in a buncha demons to make it more Das then Ninja Gaiden.

I enjoyed it, but the story and chars do nothing for the game accept the annoyance of being forced to be Geralt.

I'm not seeing the problem here at all. Japanese mythology is interesting and it's cool to see a game that goes in depth with it. I doubt the historical part or the mystical part were ever separate at all. If William doesn't have Saoirse then what is his motivation for carving his way through Japan at all? Realistically he was just a sailor and not a warrior and if he showed up just to establish trade then what business would he have fighting anyone?
