I dunno. BL2 was fine besides the horrible writing and kinda boring endgame.

I havent played the pre-sequel, but that didn't look fine thats for sure.

They are.

Knowing Gearbox they will fuck it up with making it a shitty MMO.

Who are you kidding, it's gonna be next year. Hopefully not some shitty MMO hybrid. Lilith will be the main antagonist.

TPS is basically just more BL2 DLC; it's perfectly fine. Just get some buds and do a Claptrap run. (It's so great/retarded)

TPS was too Australian. (made in Aus, so understandable)

Yeah, but as a game it was perfectly functional. Replacing Slag weapons with Frost was good, having more aerial control, laser weapons (maybe).
As far as writing/story goes, more Jack is never a bad thing.

agreed, biggest problem was somehow 'vault hunter' became a term for 'protector of the innocent'

"We've got to save sanctuary and that woman from Jack!!"

No we don't, we're here to find a vault with some 3p1c l00t

I would assume the term changed because of the actions of the prior Vault Hunters (omitting Brick). It definitely doesn't make sense that Salvador would want to save people.

But they did.
Presequel was innovative fresh and the writing didn't want to make you gouge your eyes out most of the time.

I couldn't stand 2, played about 5 hours, but I loved presequel and spent like 70 in it.

I understand there's rehashed content like legendary weapons from the second game but it makes me sad that people won't give it a chance because there's a lot to like.

I might actually check out the pre-sequel, thanks.

Did you listen to Salvador's audio logs?

I thought you were just indiscriminately murdering anyone who opposed your search for the vault

also when the vault on Pandora turned out to be a bust, why return? Surely go to another planet and have some fun there

I feel like they assumed that the reason people loved the first one was because of the characters and the world, really it was just a neat first person Diablo, everything else was incidental

The pre-sequel actually improved slightly on gameplay elements over BL2 but everything else was a shit

>I feel like they assumed that the reason people loved the first one was because of the characters and the world

You are right that mainly it was a neat FPS Diablo with nice combat, but the world was kinda interesting in the first one and had potential.
Seeing the trailers for he second one I thought they realized that potential, but the actual writing was really weak. They made the first guys into generic heroes besides Brick, Roland's death made no fucking sense from role standpoint, the checkpoints also didn't (why would Jack keep rewind the heroes but not himself).

The enemy variety and the improved combat was fine tho. It was fun, but if they got a good writer they could had made a modern classic in my opinion.

I replayed BL2 recently after installing the community patch. I had to mute the dialogue when I started doing the side quest for finding the audio logs of Helena Pierce. I have no idea how I managed to stomach the games dialogue back when it first came out. It's aged terribly.

Yeah, he was on trial, a dangerous criminal. Why would he transition to heroic? The only angle is vengeance against Jack for setting them up (supposedly).
It is incidental but they did take out some actual baddies towards the wrap up (+DLC?). The transition does make some sense, when vault hunting did little for them.

Why didn't they include Borderlands 1 with the remasters

I want the writers of tales to write this

New-U stations aren't canon. They're just there as a cheap gag and because it's a video game. And Roland's death was just there to raise the stakes a bit. At the very least they didn't do some generic "heroic sacrifice" thing.

The biggest problem with TPS, besides more shit writing, was that it had no endgame. BL2's endgame wasn't great, but it at least had one.

Regardless, the game was fun and the playable classes are some of the best in the series.

It needs a bit more work than the other 2 did.
A remaster would be incredible.
The first game was always rough around the edges, though I still love it the most.

Does it need a remaster? It runs on a toaster and is dirt cheap (all of them are).

For consoles

Definitely. I hope they're on the next proper game. It was more consistently funny and engaging than any of the others.

Right, but you're likely on a PC right now. Unless you're on a phone in which case- throw it at the wall, it's a Tediore.

I am on a phone, but i have a laptop. It runs like shit on there.

It's hard to care for Borderlands while festering in hate for Gearbox.
>Burch leaves
GREAT
>Original Borderlands writer comes back
Even better
>He leaves
Oh fuck
Honestly, I don't trust GB to know what they're doing. I honestly believe they struck gold through stealing and pure dumb luck, like a retard coming across a diamond.
He sees its pretty and likely profitable but has no idea on why it's profitable so he'll hack it to pieces thinking it makes it more valuable.
Might actually buy if the Tales writers help with that department. Despite playing them all; Tales and parts of 1 was the only one that I believe found a good balance between dark/gallows humor and actual dramatic, well performed scenes.

On my last playthrough I switched to Japanese audio. The overacting Japs make it kinda fun

>the writing didn't want to make you gouge your eyes out most of the time.
>Everything about Janey Springs

Yeah nah

>I switched to Japanese audio.
I never even considered this.

Janey was such a fucking forced lesbian character.

I hope BL3 has the writers from TFTB

and I hope rhys and fiona are playable

Gaige a cute

Rhys was never going to be a vault hunter.

They're literally making it right now.

I don't know why they didn't just make Battleborn with Borderlands characters instead, you have the brand and setting established already.

I just started playing TPS after picking it up on a recent humble bundle. It's by far the worst solo experience out of any of the series, but I'm sure it's fine in a group.

>also when the vault on Pandora turned out to be a bust, why return?
I don't think there's any official reason for this so I can only offer speculation. Roland/Lilith were both wanted criminals even before they opened the first vault so maybe that makes interplanetary travel especially difficult for them. I also don't know how difficult interplanetary travel is in the BL universe, so that could also be a factor.

>Roland's death made no fucking sense from role standpoint, the checkpoints also didn't (why would Jack keep rewind the heroes but not himself).
All the missions leading up to and including "Where Angels Fear to Tread" (or that mission where Roland dies) is a magnum opus of contrived and meaningless plot points and plot holes.

Just remove the slag/frost/any thing you have to apply be for pulling out your real weapon.
Man I hated how tvhm and uvhm forced you to apply it some how.
Slowed down the game to much.

they already said their working on it.

Bullshit like this takes time to make, y'know. They don't want to set expectations too early and wind up disappointing people again.

I hope they won't fuck it up as badly as battleborn and most of the pre-sequel

>tfw bl3 has the potential to become a great game but has also the same chance to be utter shit because it's gearbox
I hope the music will be made by the same guy from 2.

>It's literally all Gearbox has that's popular
homeworld.
Far more popular than borderlands.

>the checkpoints also didn't
Like this user says New-U stations are allegedly non-canon, purely because Burch is a massive fucking hack and probably forgot they even existed until the internet pointed it out. He then proceeded to handwave and say that they weren't canon IIRC. The same as him blatantly not bothering to even read/play the first game, writing Bloodwing as the wrong gender, then making up a load of bullshit about how the species changes gender half way through their life.

>Honestly, I don't trust GB to know what they're doing
imo they pretty clearly don't. I mean, you only need to look at Stillborn for an example of what happens when they try to come up with a game on their own. Gameplay and a UI that genuinely look like a fucking parody, as well as political dialogue that's so incredibly heavy-handed it wraps back around into sounding like satire.
Let's not forget that time Randy, IIRC, made a porn subreddit for his own game then tried to act like he'd only just discovered it.

>Bullshit like this takes time to make, y'know. They don't want to set expectations too early and wind up disappointing people again.
The only reason I still even have faith that it might be a thing and might have the slightest chance to actually be good is that if it doesn't succeed I'm pretty sure Gearbox will go bye-bye. After the absolute mess that was battleborn I'm not sure they actually have anything left that's making them money, I interpret the fact that 2K somehow hasn't cut them loose yet to mean they must have 3 in the works, as that's their last chance to not crash and burn

>I hope the music will be made by the same guy from 2.

You mean Jesper Motherfucking Kyd?

>the Borderlands universe will no longer have a gritty space western atmosphere to it

youtube.com/watch?v=5F9StPM2Q_I

I didn't know it was jesper kyd
This man's great

Claptastic Voyage was the only good thing about Pre Sequel

So how many of y'all niggers are excited for Atlas to be back as a company with new VAULT TEC

I enjoy the gameplay of 2 but the fucking writing and backtracking and how much downtime there is doing both of those awful things just makes me want to stop after 20 minutes

>how much downtime there is
at least it isn't as bad TPS. Apparently people complained that they'd sometimes miss dialogue by running ahead and the game would skip the dialogue ahead, so what did they do to solve that? Now 90% of the time you have to listen to a long piece of dialogue you physically cannot progress. There's a door in the way or the person needs to unlock something or they need to slooooowly walk over and open a door for you. There's parts that are legitimately long enough to go make a sandwich during. It's the thing that always kills replaying TPS for me.
