Boring

They're okay. Lot of content to play through if you actually like them. 2's humor grates so quickly you'll likely find yourself playing with it on mute at some point.

Better than Destiny

BADASS

would be better if the dialogue wasn't written in the style of an insecure tween

even disregarding the dialogue I find them insanely boring to actually play through, even with friends.

1 is okay. Everything else sucks monkey dick.

Essentially offline FPS MMOs complete with 'Kill X number of Y' and annoying rare item drops. Lots of content but because of the repetitive nature of the gameplay you'll likely give up before you see all of it.

Preferred 1 to 2, depite not being as balanced as polished.

1 is a patchwork of clashing tones and styles and horrendously boring at parts, but the writing doesn't make you want to kill yourself and the game is properly balanced.

2 is more consistent and has an obviously superior style and variety of enemies, but the writing is nightmarish and none of the guns feel very satisfying to use.

Pre-Sequel is all of the problems in 2 repeated, plus some interesting mechanics.

All of the DLCs in each of the games is definitely worth buying, though.

they get too ridiculous before the character building gets fun

>All of the DLCs in each of the games is definitely worth buying, though.
Except the area stuff, which is essentially just boring as all hell.

And all the cosmetic dlc for Borderlands 2 of course.

What went wrong?

Tried playing the first one. Got as far as getting the car before stopping out of boredom.
Does it get any better later? Because it seems to me I'll just keep finding guns with bigger numbers and shooting the same enemies.

This. Pitchford and Burch are hacks to say the very least.

First one is good, nice writing, likable characters, is so fucking boring

Second one is meh, it gave you a minimap finally but doesn't take itself seriously at all so it's hard to even consider anything serious, writing isn't good but it is okay a guess

The Pre-squeal the writing was so fucking abysmal all i wanted was to go back to the first one where it was just wondering around for hours on end with no one talking, little to no improvement over the last game except now you have air supply that constantly drains so you'll spend more time looking for air than actually shooting

They are the most shilled games to ever shit up Sup Forums. Like it was hilariously transparent back in the day what was going on.

They are BADASS™!! XD :)
FEMINISM IS AWESOME BTW

I put 350~ hours onto BL2 , it's on my top 10 just because of the memories I made playing it with my good mates. Haven't played 1 but picking it up on sale, hopefully this autumn

...

I really enjoy them, there needs to be more over the top scifi shooters with lots of lasers and explosions but the market caters it military wannabes instead

I played the first one with 2 characters, second time with all the DLC included. I liked it, I don't get why it's called memelands, I mean the humor is not stellar, but it's not cringe inducing either. There is dubstep playing during one DLC, but that's as annoying as the game ever got. Otherwise it's really addictive, if a bit repetitive, especially without the DLCs. Would play again, will probably check out the sequels sometimes... if I feel like it.

one is better is every way except the classes feel dull
still every bit as op

I think they're pretty fun. There aren't a lot of coop fps games that have stories longer than 10 hours.

However I do find the almost mmo-like aspects to be somewhat detracting from the experience.

good game with reddit tier humor but it's fun

I don't know why the feel dull to you user, I think they are cool. You got a witch with guns that turns invisible, you got a dude that can throw a turret that can shoot elemental bullets, provide a shield AND parachute you supply drops. You got a hunter dude with an... owl? Some kinda bird at least that swoops down and attacks and you got a big berserker brute. I wouldn't call them original, but I think they are far from dull. Dull to me would be something like... I dunno, soldiers from CoD that just shoot guns. Maybe I have a low standards because I never pay for my games.

after 2 and 1.5, 1 feels weak on the abilities. I'd pay for a remake of 1 on the updated engine.

I've only played the second game. The gameplay is competant (but blatantly assumes you are playing multiplayer). The writing is beyond abysmal.

Female captain america was fun to play as

Literally only quotes from the first like, three missions. The rest of the game has none of that.

Bullet sponge enemies in FPS are cancer.

I recently played Shadow Warrior I got for free from Humble Bundle and once again I cannot comprehend how AAA game designers fail to learn this simple fact. It's fucking tedious if I have to unload a whole clip on an enemy before it dies.

I found that in Borderlands, enemies were bulletspongers either if they were a badass version of an enemy OR if I used a shitty under-leveled gun. Otherwise if you score crits/headshots, no enemy lasted more than 2-3 seconds.

>1 feels weak on the abilities
has there been any character nearly as broken as lilith or mordecai? And I'm not talking 'gamebreaking bug" but "skills used together as intended in their own skill tree" leading to things like permanent invincibility with massive multi-elemental damage.

maybe my memories of the game are fuzzy

Borderlands 2 and on have terrible damage scaling and even trash mobs take 3 seconds of sustained fire to the face to kill at higher levels, and kill you in two hit with a gun that turns out to be a shitty common pistol. Their idea of increased difficulty was literally just that enemies outscale you.

Lillith was the most fun to play with dimensional hopping smg spam.

This is something that happens a lot in loot spam games. It's always find something OP and use that only because eventually the enemies take forever to kill otherwise and kill you quickly as well. If the abilities remain fun to abuse then I find that okay.

Borderlands 1 zombie dlc was fucking amazing, overall had better characters too.

pretty much this

first game was okay, second niggered shit up, the pre-seqeul actually improved on some gameplay mechanics (not worth buying of course)
gearbox itself is human trash and also one of the worst viral marketeers out there, somehow managing to be more obvious than ubisoft or activision

1 is one of my favorite games of the seventh gen.

2 is inferior to 1 in practically every way except for the environment design, but I still had fun.

Haven't played TPS and don't plan to.

Shitty, bland, boring Fetchquest games.
