Why does neo-Sup Forums hate this game? It refined and anvanced the Metroid formula while inorporating enviromental storytelling and restablishing Samus as a protagonist after the disaster of Other M, not to mention it was one of the most satisfying games of the year.
Why does neo-Sup Forums hate this game...
Because Tortanic was neo-Sup Forums's heroin, and they're still chasing that high by talking about every game that comes out as if they were critical failures.
Because neo-Sup Forums hates everything
Because Metroid 2 was boring and a new version of it is also boring.
Color me surprised.
>boring
Just because it doesn't give you immediate gratification doesn't mean it's a bad game.
Because it's too easy and any semblance of challenge is removed by the ability to counter everything.
It was harder than Cuphead and Hollow Knight and every other meme game Sup Forums loves.
It's pretty good. Better than just a bit better than AM2R, IMO.
>too easy
The only other Metroid game more difficult than this is Fusion. I'll admit that I wish higher difficulties meant improved enemy AI, but a single mistake is punishing.
Oh, and fuck that they locked content behind amiibos. Everything else about it was fucking great.
I don't understand the praise either of those games get. Maybe Sup Forums just hates anything that isn't indie nowadays.
>Probably the hardest 2D Metroid
>Too easy
It's widely loved here though. Not sure why you have such selective reading.
what are some nu/v/ approved games?
I completed a 0% run today, on Normal though. Only the Metroid Queen gave me any trouble. Lightning Armour is the way to go, pretty much have that shit on all the time except when countering enemies for Aeion. Gammas in Area 3 tended to be the scariest parts as they get right up in your face and then flee a lot if you're slow. Zetas by comparison allow you to get more distance from them. On Normal you can often tank one or two attacks from stuff, even fairly late into the game, so Hard is probably a whole different story.
Why do people keep saying this game is fucking hard? It really isn't when you have a phoned-in counter and the Ice Beam. Using them together you can kill almost anything in one freeze > melee combo. The controls are kinda clunky and the art style is ugly. The bosses are the best part about this game. It's a decent game but not that good of a Metroid, better than Other M I guess.
>The controls are kinda clunky
How? I found them perfectly intuitive.
Because they hate everything.
What? This is actually a great game. Majority of Sup Forums actually loves it. What are you, retarded?
But I love it man.
10/10 Metroid is back, thank God.
After OtherM and FF I had lost my hopes on this series.
Samus Returns is the best 2D metroid hands down, and for me the best one was Super but I always loved Metroid II and knew that if it hadn't been on gameboy it could have surpassed it.
This game proved me right.
Still upset that we didn't get the Legacy Edition in the states.
Using the circle pad to move around in 8-directions is weird as fuck. It's only useful when you're free aiming and have full 360degrees of control. Should have made the dpad for movement and circle pad for free aiming, freeing up a button. Not a fan of the aeion powers, I really only used it when I would press A by accident. I purposely used the beam on ridley so I can get the game over with.
Can someone who isn't a shill desperate for the series to survive actually tell me what they thought of the game? Worth $40?
Honestly, I'v used a joystick/thumb pad for 2d platformers for years now so I didn't really notice, though I see why it would bother other people. I likked the aeion powers, and I like that they included them aa a way of incorporating more elements of the mythos and really enhanced the game.
Yes. I've played through it t three times now and it's great.
>This game doesn't have anough story and is too hard!
>btw, I love cuphead
If nothing else, SR is a great pleb filter.
