Like it or not Nier: Automata has the best OST of 2017
Like it or not Nier: Automata has the best OST of 2017
Stormblood came out this year.
I prefer Persona 5's.
Persona 5 would like a word.
Of 201X actually.
>the best OST of 2017
>of 2017
Yeah, easily.
Largely due to the way it's used within the game. It was really well-done.
Xenoblade 2 isn't out yet.
Not even an argument, really.
Mk8D
>hurdur its judt mk8 ost
And NierA isnt Nier? Lmao okay p5
P5
Cuphead
Even Destiny 2 has a good soundtrack
It's been a dope year
The game with the best OST of 2017 still hasn't released.
>jazz funk with no melody
P5 has a trash OST
I liked that city theme, the quietest one when nothing is happening, can't find that one for the life of me, only the super orchestral one.
If I liked Automato a lot, should I play Xenoblade?
I'd agree with that if the year was already over, but XC2 is still coming out, we'll see if it's gonna be better.
P5 was good, but not as good as Automata's.
You're a Whitaker fan uh? Rap is cool.
Is Kajiura involved now, or is it just all kinds of Irish(?) now
This?

I don't get what those variants are. I think you often had the "medium" one in the game but without the vocals.
Not sure.
Nope, Waifufag. Best OST of 2017 and possibly all time.
Is this what you're looking for?

user what
Also this variant is used a lot:

Seems like the vocals get triggered by different events, or locations in the map, or what chapter you're in in the story.
Something like this, but I don't remember it having any vocals, just a really quiet piano tone and that's it.
Haven't played that game for some time now though, still stuck with 9S playthough.
>still stuck with 9S playthough
Yeah that sucks. The beginning of route C is pretty awesome though (after just a little bit more of 9S).
BLACK TAR
Xbox One port when?
They can't even release a PC patch. I think the dev theme got disbanded and they're not putting one more cent on it. They really expected it to flop I think. It sold a lot more than expected but not enough for them to take more risks with it. Yoko Taro probably won't have trouble securing financing for his next project though.
>of 2017
It’s the best OST in the history of videogames, period.
Wretched Weaponry, Possesed by a Disease, Alien Manifestation, City Ruins. Weight of the World, Copied City, etc.
If it helps, I treated the 9S route as a "cleanup run" of sorts: do all sidequests you missed, go open those chests that you couldn't open before, gather documents and learn more about the world (which I recommend, the DoD/Nier universe is one of my favouites in vidya). Don't rush it, play at your own pace. Main story events are mostly the same, with the big reveals starting to show up at the "Become as Gods" section.

That's more like it. A really nice one, was positively surprised by the soundtrack of this game and that made me buy the game, despite action games like this not being up my alley.
>2017
>the majority of the persona 5 soundtrack has no melody
Fucking finally. Yeah that's the one I was thinking about as well. There are more variants of the songs than you'd think it seems, the different tracks are added or removed dynamically I think.
I'd give it to Ys
You might already be aware of this but you can listen the complete soundtrack in the resistance camp. There is a jukebox with every music in every variation (vocals, instrumental, quiet, dynamic, ...). I really like to sit here and enjoy the music.
Most tracks have a ton of variants, with the game changing fluidly between them according to the tone and situation at hand.
Not only is the OST amazing on it's own right, the sound mixing is the best this year and only adds to the experience. That's why Automata has the best soundtrack in a year full of amazing ones.
Fuck, completely forgot that thing existed, thanks. I really need to play some more of that game, it was quite fun.
Route B? yeah that was a pain in the ass till the seperation at the flooded city
But after that it becomes even better than it ever was.
>even destiny 2
>even
The first game had a good soundtrack. Bungie games always have good music.
Alien Manifestation and the entire prologue to the game might just be the best intro to a game ever made.
Please prove me wrong, it upsets me that I like this game so much.
>you can listen the complete soundtrack in the resistance camp
Oh yeah. That's nice but you have to be in the game for that though. I downloaded a bunch of soundtracks for it off Youtube but they are specific variants.
>with the game changing fluidly between them according to the tone and situation at hand
That's something they got really good at since Nier. Nier had a great soundtrack too but it wasn't used this well.
I wish more games put so much effort into this. This doesn't sell as well as graphics though.
>Alien Manifestation
You fucking nigger have taste. But I still cannot decide which is better: Vocal or Instrumental

>That's something they got really good at since Nier. Nier had a great soundtrack too but it wasn't used this well.
This is all due to Platinum Games, I think. They did similar things with Metal Gear: Rising boss tracks, with the vocals kicking in at critical points in boss fights. Can't remember if similar things happened in Bayo 1/2.
*blocks your path*
>might just be the best intro to a game ever made
I dunno senpai. I didn't enjoy the intro so much. Probably because I wasn't really into this kind of game. These kinds of game I should say I guess. Automata is a bunch of stuff (but very weird in its own way). Also 2B's monologue at the beginning made me cringe so hard it took a while to wear off.
In retrospect it was pretty well done and the demo must have been awesome for people really anticipating this game.
The beginning of route C has got to be one of my favorite video game experience ever though.
Xenoblade is open world and isn't real time hack and slash like Nier. I think both games scratch different itches but the story in the next one should be good.
Seems pretty nice. I definitively should play this game. I'd rather experience the soundtrack in the game first.
Not enough original tracks. If the next game is all original stages then maybe.
>the mobile game with the entire Umineko composers team will come out soon this year
Nah, Automato will soon get BTFO
They are nothing alike apart from both having banging soundtracks and cool worlds.
Still mad about the delay
You should because just like with Nier Automata, the way the music is used in game makes it even better.
You even get to chose a personal instrument for your character that plays a specific version of the combat theme whenever you kill an enemy or land a big hit. The game also has a few vocal tracks that really surprise you. One of the main characters you can pick for yourself or as an ally rewards you for completing her story line, the final fight of which is brutal, with a song. And that song is so good it makes everything well worth it.
I don't know where they got the composer for that OST, but he's as good if not better than Kiril was, bless his soul.
Cool. Probably going to be the next game I'll play then. I was meaning to give it a try because Avellone was connected to it too.
I honestly like the instrumental better as a standalone. In game the vocals help add to it and make it better, but when listening to each in its full, the instrumental just seems like it has more to it. The full composition just makes it a better whole piece where the vocals can drown some of it out IMO
That's a weird way of spelling Sonic Mania, OP.
WE WILL DIE TOGETHER AND BECOME AS GODS
>Sonic Mania
>Samus Returns
>Cuphead
>Mario Oddysey
>Persona 5
Not even close
The prologue's pretty fucking good. The decision to use Alien Manifestation rather than Wretched Weaponry was a good choice.
>2017
NieR and NieR: Automata have the best video game OSTs ever composed. Whichever you prefer, they are #1 and #2
Sonic Mania's OST blows everything released this year out of the fucking water
Is there any big band, RnB and/or techno?
If not then it's automatically not that good.
It's also the best game.
This.
Also good.
