How did Nintendo do it Sup Forums? How did they create a Zelda game that is the best in the series to this very day, that STILL hasn't been surpassed, in less than 2 years?

Breath of the Wild's shrine quests are more engaging from a pure gameplay perspective than literally any sidequest from Majora's Mask, including the Anju/Kafei one.
Stay buttblasted.
What does the image of majoras mask have to do with your post?
game devs used to do silly bets with eachother back in the day
the fucking crash and Jak games were released 1 year apart ffs
Engaging characters and sudequests that interacted with and changes the world around you as you play.
Take this (you) and don't come back
Stone Tower alone is miles better than BotW as a whole.
>playing elegy of emptiness a million times
FPBP
They have, you're just a memer
BotW is a worse Zelda than SS, and no amount of paid review shilling is gonna change that fact. Let that sink in for a minute.
Alttp, OoT, The oracle games, BoTW
Its been surpassed and its never surpassed the best in the series anyways
Because they recycled almost every asset, giving them time to focus on LITERALLY anything else.
>finding an x test of strength a million times
>finding the same copy paste shrine designs the whole game
BotW is a better Zelda than MM, and no amount of unpaid shitposting is gonna change that fact. Let that sink in for a minute.
>he played it on wii u
hahaha hehehe haha haha haha
Bet you sure do love playing the same song 50 times in a row
Oh wait thats the entirity of MM doing tedious tasks over and over again
Its almost like people pretend to like the game
hang on lets not get crazy here user
Stop forcing the Zelda cycle. It's not a funny meme anymore.
This is what BotW dick sucking Switchlets who never owned nor ever played any other Zelda game or Nintendo system before actually believe
BotWlets are worse than niggers. Absolutely subhuman Redditor-tier trash.
Creativity flourishes under pressure. Nintendo will never top the dungeons, amtosphere, story of MM.
But user, BotW had a huge open world and tons of gameplay!
fedora's mask is the worst 3d zelda kid
You're right.
>more engaging
That explains why most of them are easy as fuck puzzles, repeats of puzzles, or "Gift" shrines where you just walk up a fucking flight of stairs
I actually like BOTW. It just needed more and longer dungeons. The shrine events (like eventide) should have been the shrines in the first place.
I know user. Gotta love being able to do cool tricks instead of having actual creative and distinguishable content.
>3d zelda
>best anything
lttp will never not completely shit on them
The MM fanbase has become so fucking annoying. It's an amazing game but these faggot hipsters act as if they're a part of a secret enlightened club because they like the game. They say the other Zelda masterpieces (BoTW, OOT, LA, and LTTP) are all garbage just because they want to prove what big fans of Majora's Mask they are.
MMfags behave like the Rick and Morty fanbase
>a huge open world
That isn't worth exploring on foot after you fine a couple shrines for each region, and the corresponding tower for the entire map.
Based.
Has there ever been a more living world in a video game than in Majora's Mask?
You can do both.
>Comparing BoTW to OoT, Link's Awakening and Link to the past.
At least compare it to something like wind waker.
A huge open world that is mostly empty.
this. fedora's mask cucks are cancerous faggots
>trying to squeeze botw in with the actual good games
I see what you're playing at
Cry me a river, pedo
BOTW is better than all of those games though specially outdated memes like Link's Awakening with only 2 fucking buttons available
Now if only the dungeons weren't bland as fuck and only 5% of the actual play time.
It's kinda sad when they do that.
No really.
If you have to force yourself to play the game like a collectathon, there's no point in calling it a zelda game
nice try autistic samefag
>That explains why most of them are easy as fuck puzzles
Okay then, Einstein. Name one puzzle from a previous Zelda game that is better than BotW's.
Oh wait, you can't because it's endless "push this block" and "shoot this eye" bullshit. I was talking about shrine quests anyway, not the shrines themselves although they were largely good too.
If only you weren't a goalpost moving faggot.
The fact that the divine beasts are not appreciated makes me believe some zelda fanboys know nothing about level design because the divine beasts are totally brilliant
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Majora's Mask. The atmosphere is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of symbolism most of the themes will go over a typical casual’s head. There’s also Happy Mask Salesman’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of the game, to realise that it's not just dark- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Majora's Mask truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the brilliance of the three day time loop mechanic, which itself is a cryptic reference to Groundhog Day. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Kafei's questline unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.
And yes, by the way, i DO have a Majora's Mask tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 hours played of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid
BoTW feels like the first Zelda game that actual uses the 3d space in it's dungeons, and anons have the audacity to call them bland. The variety in shrines is ridiculous
The dungeons are hardly distingishable though? And they barely count as actual content when they are so fucking short compared to rest of the game, like I mentioned in my previous post.
You're delusional if you can't see this.
>hardly distinguishable
Looks like we've got a legitimate brainlet here
>BoTW fanboy won't even recognize the games that made the series great.
Not even mad at you, user.
Just disappointed.
>easy as fuck puzzles
Is there a actual difficult puzzle in the series?
Majora Mask
You are the one that's delusional, mixing up palette and assets with actual level design, and no, short does not equal bland, your posts contain olympic tier mental gymnastics and you have the audacity to call others delusional.
You're the deluded nostalgia faggot
MM doesn't have difficult puzzles. Unless you count the side quests or the dungeons as a whole a puzzle.
>MMfags behave like the Rick and Morty fanbase
Fucking this. It's especially irritating when they start yammering on and on about the story as if it's the only thing they can hang on to.
Seriously, go back and play any MM sidequest, they're boring as fuck. You either just talk to an NPC or play a short minigame. That's it. Done. That's what the gameplay of Majora's "brilliant" side content amounts to.
>still samefagging
holy shit why are majora's mask cucks so cancerous?
It was never a meme. Zelda games have been getting progressively worse and BOTW is no exception.
kek so true. majora's mask wasn't even as good as ocarina of time though
They have the same fucking theme and barely any unique aspects to them. The only memorable one was Vah Naboris for its cool electricity stuff and how it actually fit its setting.
Not difficult but puzzles that work on a macro level that actual warrant you using your brain somewhat. See LA's Eagle Tower and other dungeons like it.
The phantom hourglass puzzle where you had to turn off your DS or some shit.
>fedora's mask
>best
I will never get why people like this meme game and it's short 4 shitty dungeons.
Sounds like you're a nostalgia faggot. How about you go back to plebbit, grandpa.
Majora's Mask fans never went apeshit over a limited edition McDonald's sauce packet
They're not trying very hard anymore.
>Different Anons have similar opinions on an image board
>It must be a samefag!
>Not difficult but puzzles that work on a macro level
So the Divine Beasts?
fpbp.
Has there even been a game in 3D, that have had better dungeons than Majoras Mask?
The use of 3D space is very impressive, and i can't think i have played a game that even gets remotely close to it.
OoT had some impressive 3D dungeons, even if they lacked the vertical movement to really get there.
>caring about dungeons
Can you say ABSOLUTE PLEB
That's not ocarina of time
>STILL samefagging
o I am laffin
forty keks
>typical samefag response
okay samefag
But the dungeons in majora's mask are among the best in the franchise, what are you on? Stone tower is probably the very best 3d zelda dungeon hands down
>short
ahh, the long campaign meme. The length of a campaign doesn't matter when it is over, what matters is how memorable it was, padding your game to make it longer is not going to make it more memorable in the long run. What is there is what matters, and Majoras Mask had 4 different dungeons that played very differently from one another, all memorable in their own right.
It's certainly not a flawless game, but length or number of dungeons is not the problem.
Skyward Sword makes MM's dungeons look like shit
This entire conversation wouldn't be happening if either of you actually knew how to check for samefagging
Instead they went full autism with "project moonfall" by repeatedly spamming Nintendo of America with MM art and requests to remake it until they made MM3D.
I dunno about you but I would have much rather had a brand new 3d zelda using the OoT3D engine than literally remaking one of the worst selling Zelda games to date with the most blatantly polarized opinions about it.
In the very least MM3D actually improved upon some miserable aspects of the original MM and made it a bit more enjoyable, but it still sold poorly just as poorly ad MM originally sold compared to the original OoT.
MM fags are really loud obnoxious faggots.
Honestly this. I mean shrine quests like Secret of the Snowy Peaks and Eventide Island are pure ludo.
>mm3d
>improvement
every single change to MM3D except the new location of the bank and the ability to skip the teleport cutscene made the game worse, and the fact that you think otherwise reveals yourself as worthless casual filth.
I just like the game, whys everyone gotta be so black and white about this shit all the time
keep embarrasing yourself samefag

is there a better water level in a game than the Great Bay Temple? Fuck I love that temple and its music.
Although the water temple in OOT has better music, probably one of my favorite themes in the series.
lol. Skyward shit has trash dungeons.
swimming mechanics were so satisfying. Love the design flow of the temple.
I really don't understand the people who don't like Great Bay Temple. Is it just brainlets? All the currents and water manipulation stuff are really cool
Nope. The dungeons in SS were fucking based and made the dungeons in MM look like child play.
People have been conditioned to hate underwater levels, so they don't even try to enjoy it. It's honestly one of my favorite Zelda temples, it's not too easy, nor is it frustrating.
??
It has a lot of dungeons where you go really far into them, but very rarely use 3D space for anything but spesific set pieces.
Remember: The most impressive Dungeon in Skyward Sword is the Pirate Ship, and even that only have you go trough the main room like 3 times, as you go trough a rather linear path to go trough the ship 3 times, and then go outside to kill a hag of a Krakenfu.
I mean
>Spiral staircase downwards and Ghirham 1
>Lava Boulders
>Gigantic vacuum dungeon where with limited ability to travel
>The cool water dungeon thats basically a flat floor
>Best dungeon: a fucking sandship
>Bigger Lava Boulder Dungeon
>Final Dungeon: Block puzzle edition
It was okay, but it wasn't great.
And unlike something like Water Temple, Zora form is a rapid form, meaning the rather expansive level can fully use its 3D depth, that it has.
Its even a simple design, where its easy to go around from room to room, unlike 90% of Water Dungeons in video games.
The updated song of double time letting you skip to specific hours instead of entire half day increments was a huge improvement you miserable cocksucking autism shitfest - but i guess you wouldn't appreciate that since you actually enjoyed roleplaying like a retard to pass the time in the original.
Fuck off. MM3D was a big improvement - the only fucked up changes were the giant's mask and zora swimmin, and maybe ice arrows for ice blocks if you were extra autistic and never realized the static places you could use them in MM3D were the only necessary places through the whole game.
In any case, the updated time travel mechanic was a gigantic improvement over literally fucking waiting in game for half an hour.
>tfw Zelda games will never have dungeons this great and atmospheric ever again
youtube.com
youtube.com
youtube.com
And yes, Great Bay was amazing. Very underrated dungeon.
Nothing wrong with that.
I personally played BoTW, MK8, Splatoon 2 and didn't like either one for reasons that a lot of anons brought up.
>what is scarecrow time skipping
>what is proper time management and accomplishing multiple things in a day, one of the key parts of the gameplay in the original
>I MUST DO THIS ONE THING AND NOTHING ELSE, YOU ARE THE AUTISTIC ONE
>I I don't need to use ice arrows in other places then I shouldn't be allowed to
I suppose you shouldn't be allowed to use normal arrows too in any zelda game unless you need to press a switch, in which case the switch should be glowing? Bomber's notebook literally being a strategy guide that told you how to collect everything in the game and the casualized save system that destroyed the main conceit of the game were both fucked, as is the new song of double time. Kill yourself casual
Nope. The only good dungeons in SS are the desert ones and they are just okay. They introduced a concept and continue to build on it. The others are just shit.
Christ, MMfags truly are the worst.
God damn, that Forest Temple theme gets my vote for most atmospheric theme song of all time, it did so much to help make the Forest Temple my favorite temple in the entire series.
>still sold poorly just as poorly ad MM originally sold compared to the original OoT.
MM didn't sell poorly because it was a bad game. It was released at the very end of the N64's lifecycle, and "compared to" is a relative term because for years (according to the 2002 Guinness Book of World Records at least) it held the highest number of pre-orders for a video game until it was broken by Halo 2 in 2004 (and today typically a game can't hold onto that title for more than one or two years).
>t. human garbage
Nice rebuttal faggot.
>Not posting the absolute GOAT penultimate area
The Gerudo shit in BotW had absolutely no impact in comparison.
>people who disagree with me are the worst because I hate defending my shitty opinions on discussion forums
Now go back to le Reddit and never grace Sup Forums with your awful, casual tastes again
