So now that the dust has settled, can we all agree that this is a fairly mediocre Mario title?
So now that the dust has settled, can we all agree that this is a fairly mediocre Mario title?
lol no
But its casual as fuck all.
this meme was never funny, you should be ashamed
>le dust has le settled
kys
why are nintensharts so bitter all the time?
I bought a switch just for this game and its a great game, probably second best 3D Mario but it's not some godsend videogame, give me a break.
better than sunshine by miles
not better than 64
It was really good user. My only complaint was that it felt like the levels weren't connected. the story was just go to every level, then bowser escapes so you go to the next. The gameplay was great and each level was fucking amazing, design and atmosphere wise. If they just connected the levels more tying them to the story so that they had some kind of bigger theme like Mario galaxy's levels it would have been my favorite 3d Mario.
I think it's the best 3D mario. The best 2D mario is World.
Are you insane? 64 and both Galaxy games shit all over this.
I need you guys to help me out.
I think BotW is a good game, but I don't see even close to the 10/10 GOTYAY that everyone else seems to in it.
Is Odyssey ACTUALLY as good as everyone is saying or is this another Nintendo cocksucking meme?
I think it is the best 3D Mario. Literally the only argument against it is from "MUH CHALLENGE" fags. It might not be very challenging but it has lots of heart the thing Mario is really about.
Challenge fags are just soulless husks that played through the festival thinking
>wtf this is easy
Mario is a casual series
nice try OP
>but I don't see even close to the 10/10 GOTYAY that everyone else seems to in it.
Its just killing Bokobolins in between dungeons, I find it fairly boring actually.
>So now that the dust has settled, can we all agree that this is a fairly mediocre bait thread?
user your chasing bowser who's collecting stuff for his wedding. Literally every world had a reason for you to be there which they explained. If you're just saying you wanted a hub world I get that but the levels were connected by a theme in the story.
>shitty "muh switch stock" thread finally gets deleted by lazy-ass mods after an hour of shitposts and pictures of dicks
>another shitty bait thread pops up two seconds later
This board is a literal sewer.
>Mario is a casual series
Didn't used to be.
What did you think BOTW was? I thought it was like an 8 or 8.5. On the other hand Odyssey is almost as good as everyone says. Ignoring the shitposters, its not a 10/10, the story and interconnectedness and overall theme for the levels wasn't good. But the gameplay and level design is seriously fucking good. I don't know what you'll think about the overall game but while you're playing at least, you won't want to put it down. Each level is really fun to play and it doesn't take long to keep going to the next level if you want something new.
I am not even baiting. Faggot.
No, it's not.
literally couldn't care less about relevancy or how casual a game is, if it's good then it's good.
I disagree.
No it's one of the best ones
I get what you mean, but I thought that was kind of boring. In galaxy each level is a world and they all have "galaxy" like design. Theres no similarities between the worlds in odyssey at all. It just felt like you're moving one game to the next. while I was playing I didn't notice it because each level itself is super fun to play. But once I finished the game I thought they could have improved the story/level interconnectedness
>hub world on hardware that needs to be able to be played in burst sessions while mobile.
yea no. theres a reason theres no hub world. if you actually have a brain and think of it from nintendo's perspective and not your peanut brain perspective.
I bet you haven't even played it.
It feels right to say this could be my favorite Mario game a week later. Lets see if that holds in a few months, but its really good.
I just got to the luncheon kingdom you fucking faggot.
explain this
1 game user and that game did even ship because it would not be as "casual" for the masses, don't say it is not for a casual play only because (you) think otherwise.
Making them vastly different was intentional. You're on an odyessy, traveling far and wide, wouldn't feel like much of a trip if each place looked the same.
If you don't like it that's fine but I think there is a clear reason for it and I thought it was great each kingdom was so distinct. I think it comes down to preference really, its not a mistake just a different approach.
Shitty design choices.
Man, the red squinty eyes also stood out to me as weird.
Now I know why.
Some of the best gameplay in a long time. Perhaps the challenges weren't a plenty but it was still decent and had me engaged throughout.
No hub also makes DLC easier. I wasn't saying I wanted a hub user I was trying to understand that other anons post
to make him look sugoi~
No, I think this game takes all the best parts from the previous 3D Mario games and mixes them.
My only complaint is that certain moves can only be done with motion controls.
Want to know how you make a thread and not get accused of bait? Try adding some actual fucking arguments. And back them up with examples.
One is a happy face and the other is actually closing his eyes.
It's Japan.
Why are you so mad, Nintenbro?
>Casual
How many times did you die on the Darker Side of the Moon?
It's Mario
Fair enough. It does fit the odyssey theme.
>Nintenbro
Thanks!
It actually is the most perfect 3D game that exists And that Sup Forums is still shitting on it for me just proves that Sup Forums will hate any game since they don't want a game, they want a substitute for friends and a game just can't offer that. That why they are mad at specific video games. When they finish a game, they feel like they were left by a friend and all they have is shitposting on the internet 24/7.
It's easily the hardest 3D Mario. Maybe actually try and complete the moon stones and later levels instead of shitposting.
I'm torn between Odyssey and 64 being my favorite 3D Marios, Odyssey is fantastic but ultimately gets bogged down by
>overall lack of challenge with the exception of one or two Dark Side levels
>many of the moons get repetitive or just tedious, like the bird catching or Goombette moons
>some kingdoms only being boss arenas and not full explorable areas
>more linear than 64, the game gives you some choice in that you can choose between 2 kingdoms at certain intervals but you're forced to do the kingdom you didn't choose first after
>certain enemies are only used once and never again, like the Chargin' Chucks on the moon
Still an overall 9/10
>both Galaxy games
Where the fuck are all of these "HURR GALAXY WAS GR8" kiddies coming from?
Galaxy was the easiest, most linear and least creative 3D Mario I've ever played. It was like the Uncharted of Mario, all flash no substance. I have never been more fucking bored playing a Nintendo game than when I played Galaxy
There is no way in hell they have shit harder than sunshine.
Nips love moe.
Nothing wrong with me to be honest.
You haven't touched the darker side of the moon, I see.
It's the same old Mario game. If you like Mario games, you'll like this one. There's nothing revolutionary about it. It was hyped up as this glorious open world game, but the only really big area is the desert.
i replied to wrong post
You'll get the exact same feeling from Odyssey, trust me. I'm not usually one to complain about a game being too easy or too casual, but this game is so brain-dead easy that it barely held my attention and genuinely sent me to sleep in the middle of the day.
if a mario game gives me the same addiction and need to collect and complete evrything like 64, sunshine and the galaxy games, then its a success in my books. the only games where I got bored was 3D world for wii u
>open world
Wut? No one ever said that. Its in the style of 64/Sunshine Nintendo has even said that themselves or are you just a moron who didn't understand when they said "sandbox style Mario"?
...
It's on par with other 3D Marios. Which are all a bit overrated.
Galaxy had substance and interesting powers. Some levels are more open than others, but they were all unique and had their own gimmicks. Maybe it's just your memory user. You should probably play it again.
3D land is imo the superior game. It was designed with single player in mind unlike 3D world.
Get your faggot ass snapshots out of my thread, scumbag.
Don't mind me, just fixing your shitty thread.
this
with mario games if I end up collecting everything post end game then its a good mario game
Not that user, but Darker Side really only has one or two hard parts. Neither is as hard as pic related. That being said, I really enjoy Odyssey and think it's my favorite 3D Mario anyway.
I wish 3D Land had better jump physics. Mario gets too much air time on his standard jump.
Boom-de-ada
This isn't "hard," it's just fucking retarded.
I'd like to know what kind of crack reviewers were doing to claim that this is the best mario game ever made.
The game doesn't have the depth of sunshine, it doesn't have the aesthetics of galaxy.
The "2d" sections are just plain boring and I have no idea why the IGN reviewer claims that these where more creative than user levels for Mario Maker.
The hat mechanic is underused and there are too few compatible enemies, and what enemies there are just allow you to do 1 nifty thing. Why not just have power-ups instead?
Solid 7/10. Below average mario game.
How do you do that one jump where he skips the level involing the bullet bills and the purple lava? I'm trying to understand how you do jump skips like that
No, we cannot. Get fucked, sony nigger.
Please post a picture of the game and your Switch.
just so I can trust you.
Its probably the best 3D Mario game yet, only 64 or maybe Galaxy 2 beating it. The only really major problem is some of the moons can be really tedious to get, motion controls are require for certain cap moves, removing lives and the Darker side of the moon isn't as challenging as Champ or Perfect run since Mario has a much more in depth, useful movement options than 3DW and SMG2. Soild 9/10.
>soulless husk spotted
The captures ARE the powerups
>Game has no depth
>Hat is underused
>2D sections are boring
Hmmmm
This guy gets it. If the physics weren't so awkward in parts of Sunshine, the game would be a cakewalk.
In Tostarena?
> (You)
>This guy gets it. If the physics weren't so awkward in parts of Sunshine, the game would be a cakewalk.
It's like saying the pachinko void level is "hard," when in reality, Fludd just stops fucking working for no reason at all.
yeah I'm trying exactly how figure out how to do jumps like that which get you above the level. I can jump on cappy, but I can't seem to get higher than that
>Physics weren't so awkward in parts
What? The physics stay the same throughout the game.
Because the switch finally got one decent exclusive and are super butthurt that not everyone on the planet loves it.
is reddit-spacing reserved for sarcastic shitposting?
I'm not sure what you mean. Do you have a video?
Yeah, his point was that in some of the challenges they were fucking awkward to do due to the physics.
>One decent exclusive
Yeah, Switch only has one "decent" exclusive. All the other exclusives are shit, right?
Because Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, even ARMS and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are not decent, right?
Don't forget Fast RMX and Golf Story
Poor wording on my part. I'm just referring to parts of the game where the physics for fludd start to show their weaknesses. The pachinko level as well as any leaf riding level are big offenders.
what was so bad about 3D World?
no, it's really good but it really isn't that hard. I mean it will be once you start going towards those final stars and getting to the final area, but it's not really hard.
Jumping around is so fun and there's more freedom to it
Nothing. Its just really boring.
Splatoon 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and ARMS are all shit actually.
for me, it's just like with BotW. It's not 10/10, game of the year forever for all years, but it's still pretty dang good. Between an 8.5 or 9/10
Is it possible to do the downward throw with a pro controller using motion control?
get out underage
>Buy nintendo switch and trust jewtendo again
>bing bing wahoo and hiyaaa come out and everybody is praising
>Then 3 years of nothing ad new console announced
>people stil forget because they are like fucking children with deficit of attention and the nintendo bonus of nostalgia is a real thing
>Splatoon 2
shit
>Fire Emblem Warriors
shit
>Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
lmao, shit
>ARMS and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
both shit
semi realistic textures, cartoony characters. fuck this Sonic the Hedgehog Xbox 360 nonsense
