This, no one is ever going to get to experience the Painted World without a guide and that's like the best part of the entire game. It was fun back in the day to go online and talk with everyone and share your findings but that ship has long sailed, Dark Souls is definitely best played with a guide so you can see everything the game has to offer.

Nah I've played each of these games at least three times, I'm the kind of person who doesn't like missing out on content though and getting to the Painted World of Ariamis is some bullshit without a guide and I'm not even sure how anyone could figure out getting to Archdragon's Peak that has to be the most obscure and obtuse thing in the series.

On the contrary though I did manage to discover Nightmare Frontier and Cainhurst Castle without a guide on my first play through, those were much more straightforward.

I thought the second half of Bloodborne dropped off in quality compared to the first half but I'd be lying if I said Nightmare of Mensis wasn't a high point for the game.

That's why you play blind until you know you're at the end and then look at a guide to see what you missed. That's how I do every soulsborne

Lots of gimmick bosses.

Best amtosphere. That's literally it everything else was improved in the other games. combat, level design builds, boss, music, etc. Its still a phenomenal game though.

Same kind of people who missed out on Cainhurst, again one of the best parts of the game.

The only stand out part of Cainhurst was Logarius though. Central and Old Yharnam had more intricate and vertical level design and Forbidden Woods did the whole linear combat gauntlet thing better, but none of those bosses were as good as Logarius.

How would one get back to the asylum to get the doll without a guide? I honestly never would have found it without a friend telling me about it or finding it online later, it's genuinely easy to miss because why would you jump off an elevator?
