>X is shit compared to Y
Not an argument.
>play HU
>win immediately because its impossible to stop you from taking the natural on xbox hueg map
No wonder this shit got dropped from tournaments.
I'm not going to be original, but Echo Isles is where the best matches took place. Its got shared creeps, brilliantly placed orange camps, close-by merc camp, and only 1 expansion per player, giving every game a ticking timer nature.
>only 1 expansion per player, giving every game a ticking timer nature.
i will admit, this was one of my favorite parts of Echo. No hidden tree of life memes or human multi-expand
T-stand was also great, except for warden tricks
I always hated TS for how difficult it is to creep there without taking damage
>every camp features either purge, slow, venom, or stun
>tfw played dark ranger + skellies, so i always loved the large number of weak creeps (then skeles soak up the poison damage, etc)
but hated that map when i played as human. no safe way to militia creep
I remember having an odd fondness for Echo Isles. Probably my most played 1v1 map. And I recall being absolutely excited when I discovered the actual in-game location in WoW; I actually swam all the way over there without accepting the quest in my giddiness.
Wizard's Retreat was a favourite 3v3 of mine. It still annoys me somewhat to this day that despite the map's name, the fountain in the middle is Health and not Mana. An unfortunate aspect of Wizard's Retreat was the unnaturally narrow choke in the starting locations, meaning that early game aggression is just difficult to pull off becuse of turtlers.
Probably Dota, Footman Frenzy, or Uther Party
>lvl 1 BM can solo blue orge on top for a level 3 item
Balanced hero my ass. This is almost as bad as BM soloing blue ogres on Turtle Rock and entire camps on Secret Valley
>narrow choke for turtlers

Custom Games need not apply. But yes, those 3 you listed were fun. Thank God for the first 2 having AI versions, my internet was so bad back then I mostly played games single-player.
>player Footies with AI
literally why?
lel that's why i like Lost Temple
>No tavern for blademaster buyback
>No tavern for panda breath of fire actually enables meme strats like mass gyros or double-aura ghouls
Slalom was a weird map, and the strange, 'flattened' layout actually limited how the match would go. Harrassment was difficult to pull of, and the limited and narrow lanes was stressful. Still fun, but I recall only having only played a couple matches before retiring the map.
It was a shit way to play Footies but like I said
>my internet was so bad back then
Turtle rock is best for both 1v1 and 2v2s although those end up being very different games. Trying to keep a middle creep camp up is hard. So many gold mines can make some games drag on, but the map is so compact it makes up for it.
Slalom was good because was the only tech map in 4s that didn't separate the two sides with water (i.e. hurricane isles which almost everyone thumbs downed, i only played it 4 times rt in ~6 years) Now the only tech map is last man standing, which is the worst of hurricane isles and slalom combined. They really should take out LMS and put in the two old tech maps.
>It's an "FFA with that one Human guy who thought he could get away by expanding aggressively and building walls of towers" episode
C'mon dude, really?
Bloody gyros, I swear. I was always nervous playing team matches.
if you feel your opponent might try that then play undead and do webs for days
checkm8
whatever happened to this map? Was a favorite back in the day, but i can see how the lack of creeps and huge distances made it feel "uncompetitive"
>spider costs 3 food
>gyros cost 1 food
gyros are also immune to carrion swarm, so only AOE spell that counters them is panda.
If you're undead you're supposed to take out the gyros with destroyer splash damage before they mass too many
>tfw autistically always put two towers next to a road every fucking time because i want a pretty looking base
i dont recall the cooldown on the web but after the gyros are grounded its just a matter of rushing them with melee like always
again the video demonstate purple was barely touched during the game which is acutally silly consindering they had pratically no units until around 30 minutes in
The walking distance is too great.
By the time you've marched you group of ofootmen to their base they've already teched up or built defenses.
