I played re6 this summer for the first time and LOVED IT

I havent played the game myself but I was more commenting on the level of transition in terms of tone for the series was seemingly utterly detached from the original concept. Ship of Theseus thing.

Same, It is partially directed to 4 as well but that's more a minority as tank controls and other such things where something a fair amount of people wanted and what it was replaced with drew in a greater amount of people.

Traditionalism is normally non nonsensica(but not always, here it really is as even in the original re the devs fought for the game to not include a story as it was so horrible, re has always been a kind of fun mess).

It was really racist originally though. Then they started adding in other zombies in addition to black ones. There was even a scene of one of the original trailers where you see "NIG" prominently displayed for a moment followed by scenes a bunch of really dark Africans on the ground getting their heads stomped on.

Why can't I get into RE5? I loved 4, and played it multiple times. 5 is pretty close to for in terms of gameplay, but I can't bring myself to like it, even after fixing the pissfilter with reshade.

RE5 merc and melee combat is really fun, better than RE4 even

Resident evil 4 built a world alongside the gameplay in terms of progression, 5 was more built as a buddy co op game for people to drop in and drop out of. evidenced through the menu styles, means of purchase, and other such things. this definitely did impact their design choices as well I am sure enemy encounters and area design.

I mean, it was a game where you played as White guy in Africa, mowing down hordes of really dark negroes and the gameplay strongly encourages stomping their heads into splatter on the ground. Literally a game built around curb stomping black dudes. Surely, you can understand the outrage.

That's not even the point they could have edited the trailer to make it little more palatable for a western audience different cultures have different things they find sensitive subjects just like how Japan has hang-ups of characters with four fingers or tattoos America has issue with a white person killing droves of black people out of context with out any self-awareness. In RE5? The melee executions were integral to playing the game. They were literally required in order to pass the Mercenaries missions with high enough scores too. Every playable character had several different melee moves but they all shared the curb stomp.

Nah. The Chinese complained about their portrayal in C&C Generals which is also understandable. The game made them seem like a bunch of insubordinate churls almost as if it were propaganda. This was despite the fact that their faction was almost broken tier strong in the game.

They're definitely optimal but you can unlock and clear both sets of content without them. You can easily hit the score requirements for the unlocks with proper shot placement and environment usage.

saw one vid online of someone who managed without melee but he was luring everything to one area and then spamming explosives. Guess you just found a way to get tons of ammo and make pistols super powerful so they could kill fast enough without needing time extensions.

Because the western world has built its conceptualization off of the concept of meritocracy and as thus mostly doesnt care about the views of what's racial in the first place unless if somethings is said to endanger that meritocracy such as disadvantaging people by race or other such shit.

the first time I played RE5 was when it was "free" on the ps3 with PS+, played it co-op with my brother because we wanted to play the "lost in nightmare" dlc, and I didn't really like it, but then I played it again this year and I loved it, played it twice back to back, then I dumped a shitload of hours playing mercenaries.
