Let's talk Zelda enemies. Which ones are your favorite? How would you fix the enemy lineup in BotW?

I was absolutely baffled that they didn't put deku babas or skulltulas anywhere in the game
skulltulas could have been good enemies to deter players from climbing in difficult areas

What I really wanted to see were redeads though

Combat trial guardians in the world and sometimes in packs.

I'd add Iron Knuckles/Darknuts, Redeads like said, Like Likes, Leevers and Wall/Floormasters.

>Guardian scouts exclusive to shrines

Seriously, what were they thinking?

>Seriously, what were they thinking?
It drives me insane that they're the only thing in combat shrines and never outside of them.
Even if it's gonna be all guardians at least give me multiples/the little ones/the crawlers/flyers/turrets in the combat shrines and at least a FEW different arenas, easily the low point of the game

>CHUGACHUGACHUGACHUGA

there wasn't nearly enough porn of bad ends with link being raped by lynels

It made sense that they were locked up in shrines though. The shrines were all sealed shut until Link opened them. The only reason Hyrule was covered in stalkers and the occasional flying guardian was because Zelda is a fucking incompetent.

Just dont call them shrine guardians then

But that's what they were.

I wasn't too keen on them either way. They weren't very interesting to fight. Even Bokoblins required more strategy than the generic, none miniboss ones.

I would have preferred more variety of classic Zelda enemies on the overworld than more guardians.

>Which ones are your favorite?
Always had a soft spot for these hopping statues
>How would you fix the enemy lineup in BotW?
BotW's lack of enemies stems from the lack of proper dungeons along with a dumb conviction to only include enemies that were either cave trolls or ancient robots

Skulltulas, Armos, Like Likes, Poes, and many more could have easily fit in

>Scouts will never get to interact with their giant stalker bros

Makes me sad, desu.

>But that's what they were.
There's literally nothing but a name tying them to that role you retard. Change them to something like Knight Guardians, put them in the world, put the other guardians into combat shrines too, and it all makes perfect sense.

Honestly, I feel like at some point during testing they must have toyed with leevers and then after wiping out while shield surfing 10 times in a row just dropped the idea.

Great, and now the world is filled with pathetically weak stalkers littering the countryside like rats. Fun.

Can you remind me of them all? I can only remember a few

I just fucking checked
They're NOT even called Shrine Guardians, you can put them in the world with absolutely no change or explanation necessary.

why do autistic people get so mad about stupid trivial shit

>Multiple Scout guardians in a forest
Try to tell me that wouldn't be fun

>Guardian Scout IVs among a group of Moblins with spears

Just make this the final boss, it would be harder than what we got, t b h

Due to the weapons as resource mechanic with their durability, this has limited the amount of enemies they can put in the game, I mean Zelda classic enemies who do not wield weapons would suck cock, killing things only to degrade your weapons.

There was no excuse not to put in Darknuts, arguably one of the best Zelda enemies, in this game.

>scout does laser circle and kills all moblins for you

wow so hard

>Scout
>Shooting lasers with even an inkling of the same consistency as other guardian types

They might do it at most once or twice and the lasers themselves are weak as shit.

Keese and Chuchus had like 1 hp.

Name one enemy other than Redeads that cannot wield weapons in some form and cannot have 1 hp.

But they ARE in, you just haven't looked hard enough

yea you're right

the armos were always sturdy and can't be in BotW unless, same for gibdos, that centipede thing I forgot the name was also sturdy

But as you notice the weaponless enemies in BotW have always to be very frail due to weapon durability, so you don't feel punished for engaging them.

next zelda game should be botw style but with someone who isnt ganon leading an army of darknuts and other human badasses against hyrule

what armor set is this? i thought the darknut armor was cartoony and purple

> i thought the darknut armor was cartoony and purple

You're thinking of the Phantom Armor. That pic looks like a hack.

Armos vary from game to game but traditionally they are weak against arrows and in many games drop arrows upon being killed. Gibdos are just stalfos mummies, no stal enemies in Breath of the Wild carry weapons unless you count the completely worthless arms.

cut content probably

>no stal enemies in Breath of the Wild carry weapons unless you count the completely worthless arms.

They carry bows and some swords/clubs occasionally, but you can find those pretty much anywhere else.

Alright then what about Stalnoxs. Stalnoxs don't drop weapons and they are mini bosses.

>Guardians can't scale walls

Literally why, they would have been 10x scarier

>Stalnoxs don't drop weapons and they are mini bosses.

Except they do? The weapons are lodged into their bones. They don't use weapons themselves though so I'll give you that.

>Not Link fucking the female Lynels after defeating the males

All the Lynels are male, though.

Mainly there's not enough lynel porn in general.

The female one is a 100% reward. She follows Link around and protects him.

>How would you fix the enemy lineup in BotW?
by adding the 90% of the classic zelda enemy lineup missing from botw. i wouldnt care if it had been replaced by a bunch of interesting new designs, but you spend the vast majority of the game fighting bokos/mobs and (imo) boring guardian variants. lynels are a decent new addition i guess

do people actually argue that botw doesnt have the worst dungeons/bosses/enemy variety of the entire franchise?

>worst dungeons
Wind Waker
>Worst bosses
Skyward Sword
>Worst enemy variety
yes

>How would you fix the enemy lineup

By making an official 100% Action genre LoZ game so that each enemy of the franchise can be maximized to it's full potential. And before you say it, NO Platinum does not deserve that honor. Give it to Capcom's Devil May Cry 3/4 team. Besides Capcom has indeed made Legend of Zelda games before.

I thought the divine beasts were a really interesting idea, but I would have preferred if they were used to unlock a giant dungeon in the region they're in instead of being the dungeons themselves. They're too fucking short and easy.

>worst dungeons
>not majora's mask

Oooo tree dungeon, ice dungeon, water dungeon, sand dungeon

Amazing.

>Lynels
>New addition

This is the dumbest post I have read today.

The enemy variety isn't an issue because there are things in BotW that make it stand out from other Zeldas, small details, such as how the environment can be used in combat, physics, how enemies can be killed before they alert the others, the things they do in combat and so on.

There are layers of gameplay in BotW that aren't found in other Zeldas and they help enhance the combat enough to offset the smaller amount of enemies. Also the game being more challenging and enemy behavior/AI being an improvement always helps.

>het

There are a surprising amount of little subtle details in the way enemies interact with their environment that I think most people miss. I deal with Guardians a lot (they're my favorite enemy in BOTW next to Lynels) and I've noticed several interesting behaviors from them since I started playing the game

>Guardian Stalkers go on the alert immediately when they hear an enemy sounding an alarm
>if an enemy hits them with a bomb arrow, the Guardian will target them
>same thing happens if a Stone Talus throws rocks at the guardian and hits it
>Guardian Stalkers distance themselves from other Guardian Stalkers if more than one is pursuing Link at a time in order to avoid crossing lasers and wrecking each other
>they like to be facing you at all times and will actively try to walk around you
>if you shoot a Stalker in the leg it will come after you immediately, but if you shoot it anywhere else on its body (minus the eye) it will not respond as aggressively
>they'll shoot random panic shots if they can't find what attacked them
>they can actually take fall damage
>Guardians can stay alive in deep water so long as their heads aren't submerged past their eye
>but they die regardless of how deep in they are in lava
>they don't like walking over large fires for some reason, probably unintentionally related to the lava killing them thing
>they react to the sound of cuccos crowing
>Guardian Scouts will attack remote bombs to detonate them early
>if you lift up a scout with cryonis, they'll jump up and use their body weight to destroy the block of ice
>if you form an ice block underneath yourself, the scout will shoot a laser at it to break it so you can't attack it from a vantage point

>Which ones are your favorite?
I honestly like Talus as long as their weak-spot isn't on their ass. It's fun to climb enemies
>How would you fix the enemy lineup in BotW?
More variety of giant monsters. Modulga giant, not hinox giant
