>"Who gives a fuck about story mode/lore in [genre]? Nobody cares about that."
"Who gives a fuck about story mode/lore in [genre]? Nobody cares about that."
except this is actually true in most FPS games.
Or at the very least most of the popular ones.
>"How do you know all this stuff?"
I thought it was true for fighting games
I didn't think about that but probably also true.
Yeah.
Lore is pretty fucking dumb.
Especially in the games that people care about lore the most, like Elder Scrolls.
It's neat to know these things at first, but after a while, it's literally nothing but a long laundry list of things the game does wrong.
So many Skyrim threads turn into
>The game sucks because X thing happens to Y person, which shouldn't happen because of Z lore
When, if you completely strip out the LORE, it's not actually a problem at all.
Knowing previous, otherwise completely irrelevant facts shouldn't hinder your enjoyment of an otherwise completely unrelated game. That's stupid, and only setting yourself up for failure and disappointment.
shut up pete
People get absolutely autistic about Capcom lore.
> Why won't you let them make money off the shit they already sold without holding them to the same standard that the shit they already sold set?
Kys yourself self.
>When, if you completely strip out the LORE
And leave yourself with a subpar game that sucks dick for 2 years until people start shitting out mods, only to turn it into a pretty subpar game.
Storytelling in video games is never a bad thing if it compliments the gameplay well. Devil May Cry wouldn't be as cool if it wasn't for the story bits, but Bayonetta's story can mostly go fuck itself.
I mean yeah, Skyrim does suck. I only used that as an example, because it's the first one that came to mind.
But the game sucks because the *game* sucks. Because it has inconsistencies internally. Let the game suck on its own! Don't pile on a bunch of bullshit neither the game nor the people who created it were asking for!
On the other side of the coin, you'll have games like Skyward Sword, which is terrible, but people like it because it ADDS to the LORE.
No. Fuck off with that bullshit. It's a shit game.
No game should be judged by how much or how little it makes you edit the wikipedia page. That's a bullshit metric.
Its a metric they set for themselves by creating a sequel rather than a new IP, and it's never going away, not that it should.
Lore in a fighting game is good to contextualize things and make characters more appealing otherwise is just function vs function.
One of my best friends is a downright autist for halo lore. I don't know how common that is for halo players but that's one of the most stereotypically mainstream meathead franchises right there. I have a difficult time thinking of any genre that statement is actually true for.
>Zelda
>Lore
You are just using fanboys to justify a pretty shitty opinion user. Everyone shits on skyward sword.
>tfw SFfag
That's absolutely true, I skip all the dialogue/cut scenes in 95% of the games I can because vidya is a garbge medium for storytelling for the most part.
You can blame retards like EpicNameBro for spearheading this ongoing trend of lorefags for the most insipid shit
My secret desire is an anime adaptation of the SF games
I play Path of Exile every league almost and I still have 0 clue what the story is remotely about.
I just mindlessly kill shit.
consider suicide
most games have really bad stories
if you care about the story of any multiplayer game you should be embrassed
