Zandalari and Nightborne for sure. Lightforged Draenei maybe. Blizz also confirmed we're getting upright standing Orcs down the line, too, and I am definitely rolling one of those.
Horde are getting the better races but god damn do Alliance zones look good, pretty hard to choose between them.

The void elves are former blood elves. High Elves are still not playable. Apparently the Silver Covenant isn't big enough.

What's the deal with allied races? I dont play WoW but when I saw that in the trailer I thought it meant that there wasnt going to be a limitation for races, so undead could be alliance and gnomes could be horde, but now I see it's just cosmetic tweaks for existing races on each side.

Is it because these races were in previous Warcraft games but not playable in WoW?

the term allied denotes the process with witch players will have to unlock the races. they won't be playable at launch like past new races were. rather players will have to complete a campaign custom to each race in order to bring them into the faction. i.e allying with them.

most of them are groups that were introduced in the current expac Legion (high mountain, nightborne, Lightforged, Void Elves). but dark iron dwarves & Zandalari trolls are, like you said, groups that were introduced in past WoW expacs, that worked with the player characters but were never playble

to be fair, they did say that these are only the begining.

they will be able to make new additions later in the expansion. naturally things like Broken, brown orcs, ogres, etherals are the names topping everyones lists. so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw something like broken get added later on.

During the QnA, iirc something was brought up of the Pale Orcs. Something about how they were too specific for the time something rather. I'm sure Wowhead or mmochamps will have transcripts of the panels.

I doubt they won't just make darker or prettier versions of existing races.
I wouldn't mind an eredar warlock though.

I'm an RP fag, and Back in the day I used to play a blood elf Paladin, who I pretended was an undercover high elf, aka wanted to stay with his people, but never tapped into the fel, used goggles to hide his eyes, used meditation while training in the barrens to control the need for magic, etc. Pretty cringy stuff.

Would be nice to be able to re-roll him on Alliance side as a real high elf.

I would really like upright Undead without its joints showing. Maybe keep the spine since its not that invasive of mogs and armor

The blood elves helped them unconditionally and felt a kinship with them as having similar circumstances.

The night elves fucking despised them for no good reason, Tyrande disparaged them constantly and looked down on them as druggies and monsters.

They are not high elves, Blizzard confirmed they are blood elves that were exiled from the horde, and that high elves population is too low to ever come back.

she somehow brings some bloodelves over from the Horde back to the Alliance, training them in the void.

Lightforged Draenei are the laziest shit ever, literally one wanted these fags.
Void Elves and Nightborn are both edgy deviantart OC shit invented and added purely for the "pretty race" normies who wanted to use the belf/nelf models but on Alliance/Horde.
Dark Iron Dwarves are unnecessary and the glowing beard stuff is stupid. You can already make grey-skinned dwarves.
Highmountain Tauren are okay but are the laziest subrace of Tauren they could have included. Taunka or Yaungol would have been better but Blizz is too lazy to make gear fit their fucked up heads.
Zandalari Trolls are the one addition that is solidly good because they actually have different bodies/postures to normal trolls instead of just being reskins, although the glowing eyes are fucking dumb and they should have been an already established subrace like Forest Trolls instead.

When the Night Elves, Bloodelves & High Elves came to liberate Suramar, the night elves were huge dicks and treated them like they were still the highborne responsible for summoning the burning legion.

the Blood Elves on the other hand, share a similar addiction to magic like the Nightborne do, and were understanding to their plight. they lended them a lot of aid.

The problem is there are more races than classes now, and I already have one of each class. So what would be the point of another character?

And it would have to make sense flavour wise. I don't know if a Dark Iron shaman would make sense. And void elves only really fit warlock, shadow priests, or rogues.

also from a player perspective, HE would just be BEs with blue eyes. Blizzard likes the faction races to be a bit more instantaneously recognizable. so void elves are a opportunity for a more distinct visuals

The Silver Covenant had an army, they can't be that small.

And in any case, there are more high elves than void elves, considering void elves are just a splinter group of blood elves. So lack of numbers clearly doesn't matter

The WoD leveling quests were crawling with Dark Irons. It really warmed me up to them, and they've got some neat lore behind them. Blizzard should do more with the Dwarves in general, or at least give us some more in-faction politics.

You would think Blizzard's writing staff would be busting ass to come up with new interesting characters to develop. Other than Occuleth, I don't think I've been attached to a character who wasn't a big name since fucking Admiral Taylor back in Cata. Who the fuck is even leading the Darkspeare Trolls, for example?
