Katana was supposed to be Martial Arts weapon, but people cried about ruining Zerk so they merged Martial Arts into Zerk and made new class pointless.

Given how boring and unimaginative Zerk combat is (unchanged since 2015 ea) MA was going to be faster/weaker moving zerk with 'exotic' weapons and stun abilities
making melee better was probably 'to hard' or 'impossible'

And idk I think melee in KF2 is the best I've seen, and I've played chivalry and dark messiah and vermintide. It feels nice and crunchy when you use the pulverizer or the bone crusher, whilst the slashing weapons are a bit more boring desu. I wish the bone crusher didn't just insta gib most things on shield slam though.

Berzerker is fucking boring. Dunno why everyone raves on about it.

Medic is kind of fun when your team isn't great but you manage to keep them all alive anyway by rotating between three healing dart weapons and landing clutch grenades.

Zerker. It's the only class that I solo'd a HoE Patriarch with while all my teammates died when his health was yellow.

People do play versus, it's actually kind of fun, but the main game is where it's at.
If you haven't played horde shooters before, what you're doing is just using your favorite weapons to dispose of increasingly harder enemies
The depth is in how the weapons and mechanics work and how the enemies work. If that's not appealing to you then there's not much here for you

Then you play the highest difficulty and get achievements for completing the maps. It's not an advanced game, my group of friends just recently upped to playing on Suicidal instead of Hard and we played KF1 for years.

My nigger, people don't realize just how OP the class is once you've mastered it. Easy to get into, but has so much hidden potential.

Demo is still pretty OP.

You can use both of those with the boomstick ya tosspots.

Most of the depth comes from learning the perk themselves and finding out crazy shit that players never thought the perk could do. Most players think katana zerk is for clearing trash and that's it, but it has a combo that can flinch/parrylock scrakes to death. Everybody thinks Commando is an exclusive trash killer but he can kill scrakes just as fast as a gunslinger can with the proper build.

Offperk DBS can be used to avoid tons of shit that would normally be a guaranteed death like Patty's triple rocket at close range, or getting trapped in a corner by multiple big zeds. Almost every perk in the game aside from Firebug has a way to solo scrakes, and most of those perks even have a way to solo 6p HoE FPs.
