Final Fantasy XII

I bought FFXII toady. The Licence Board works diffrently in the remake. Meaning: I can't just learn everything with every character anymore.
Question: What character should have what role?
Also: FFXII discussion, I guess.

PC port when?

i made everyone a samurai because i'm a weeb

Vaan: shikari / foebreaker
Balthier: bushi / uhlan
Fran: archer / red mage
Basch: knight / bushi
Ashe: black mage / monk
Penelo: time mage / white mage

okay.. why?

Hopefully soon.

man this final fantasy story was so shit

X was the last FF where I feel like they actually tried with the story

The maximum stats of each character determines what are the best classes for each character while each second class for each character is based on what best compliments the first class or what unlocks spots on their license board.

It literally doesn't matter, the HD version is a lot easier. Just go with what sounds cool.

Doing shit like this will break the game so hard you could play the whole thing on fast forward. I made Ashe a RDM/SAM for example and was still a little OP.

>Tidus is some made up person
I was digging it up until then.

>HD version is a lot easier
I was wondering why I could defeat that mini-boss in the tutorial without using a Potion or special-attack

In general you want your characters to be able to mix 2 of the 3 armor types so as to minimize the excess stats. It's piss easy to hit 99 in strength or magick between Battle/Magick Lores and high tier heavy/mystic armor.

Part of the fun is doing your own combination.

Don't worry about the decision too much for the first job OP. If anything, the only thing that really matters is picking a second job that complements the first job you picked.

is good if you want to "min/max", although the combinations work really well with one another.

>only 1x white mage
>ony 1x black mage
Wouldn't that mean you would have to have those 2 with you at any time? The story forces you to sometimes play with certain characters and makes others unavailable. How do you deal with that? I would hate to not have a healer at any point or not have enough XY in any way because that specific character is not available at that part in the story.

Many classes can heal, many classes can do magic damage.

>Question: What character should have what role?

Make Fran a gunner, since she has the sexiest gun toting animation.

The problem is the story never really starts. I'm playing through it again from the beginning and everything you do is practically a diversion from the real meat of the story. The characters have flimsy motivations for sticking together and the team dynamic never really comes together.

Yeah Zodiac Age is simple. You can grind really easy, just play it on double speed.

AS what other people said, just do what you want. You could run everyone on blackmage and still be fine.

I will try because >will break the game so hard you could play the whole thing on fast forward

Sounds nice

>Fran using bows
>Penelo using crossbows

That 0'2 frame delay really triggers my autism,. I hope the PC release get a mod to remove it

It doesnt fucking matter.

You can min/max but everything is broken in the remake anyway since you can have two jobs.

I use the same fucking class pairs except I have a Knight/Monk and a BlackMage/TimeMage, stacking all the buff and healing spells on the same character will drain their MP like crazy since they can't use the MP regen augments and for some reason I never liked the Monk/BlackMage

>2022

Plus a mod to add a map to the Great Crystal.

it's still a better system since it makes every class usefull, even the machinist has it uses since swiftness x3, light armor, hastega and guns is a great kit to complement a white mage for example

Vaan Monk/Knight, tank with steal and access to genji gloves though knight weapons have shitty combo rate and I don't know if there are good enough poles
Balthier Hunter/Breaker, tank with steal and and access to genji gloves for ninja blades
Fran Time/Black mage, caster with buffs
Basch Lancer/Samurai, melee damage dealer
Ashe White/Machinist, healer with a gun to to contribute between heals
Penelo Red/Archer, caster damage dealer

This gives your whole team swiftness x3, uses every class and takes into account attack speeds

a man can dream

Has anyone tried a single character, gambitless run? The early hours of combat before you get access to Gambits definitely have a certain slickness to them. If they had added more things like positioning and being able to target different parts on enemies, like Vagrant Story did, XII's combat would've been stellar.

>main party

Vaan: knight /Mateus/Hashmal/Durandal A/Gendarme/decoy
Basch: bushi/Masamune/Genji Glove/Bacchus Wine
Ashe: red mage /Cuchlainn/Trango Tower/Zodiac Eschuteon/faint

This is enough to go through everything in the game.

Black mage learns curaja, so it works as a white mage just as well

Which you don’t even need to worry about because min/maxing is a joke in Zodiac Age. Nothing is difficult, the second jobs only served to make them game even easier. Foebreaker makes even the toughest bosses do absolutely nothing to you.

One thing I've heard about the new license board is that for some of the jobs, the first two Quickening tiles that become available are a bit of a trap, since choosing them to get access to whatever licenses are behind them locks you out of better equipment later on.

>Monks are one of the few classes that learn expose
>Expose permanently lowers an enemy physical defense making it king for some bosses
>The main feature of monks is its weapons target magic defense instead of pysical

Really makes you think

>Monk
>Doesn't get stronger when fighting barehanded

Bullshit.

He does get a skill to improve his barehanded fighting but its way worse than using a weapon unless you powerlevel like crazy

That was present in the original too and just as useless then as well. I just want to fuck things up with my fists. At least Fran gets a sweet kick flip for her barehanded attack.

Sort of. You can see where all the quickenings are, there are 4 on each board. At least one of them leads nowhere else, on each board. Wait until you have both your license boards, then plan which quickening paths you’re going to take. The class that gets fucked most is Shikari, all four quickenings have ninja blades behind them, so no matter what you do, one Shikari can never equip every ninja blade.
