>still making third versions when DLC is a thing
>can't be arsed to hire a writer with all the money they have
>trying to appeal to the smartphone generation of kids by giving freebies and making pointless minigames and features
>won't put actual events for event legendaries because 'it's too hard for kids'
>can't be arsed to hire more works so games come out half-baked every time

My opinion on GF is as negative as the fanbase that allows them to continue doing this shit.

Even at their peak they were just making games for children, they're good games for children, but they're still games for children. There are aspects of Pokemon I can see people of all ages enjoying, but I don't know why it's as popular with adults or even teenagers as it is.

Incredibly incompetent.
Hopefully the move to switch will give them more room to do stuff but I can't see it.
It's why I laugh whenever someone says they want open world pokemon, do you actually think gamefreak can handle that?

visionaries with no talent or technical merit

Its still fun to play with friends. Randoms on the other hand, are complete garbage to play against.

Absolutely incompetent and lazy.
I used to enjoy the games and still very much do Gens 1-5, but in 6 and 7 they pulled a lot a shit that wouldn't fly with fans of most other RPG series.
I've completely given up hope on newer Pokemon titles.

>DLC cancer in Pokémon
Kys

one trick ponies, can only do one thing and haven't ever been able to make a series other than pokemon, which by the way i am one hundred percent positive literally any company could make a fucking top down jrpg with just as many bugs and shitty design as gamefreak

>he would rather have ruby, saphire, emerald releases of rpgs with very little different between the two
>180 dollars to get the full experience

I love Pokemon
I really do
But I can admit that Gamefreak is lazy as fuck

The transition to 3d was not good.

They make weird decisions sometimes but I don't have any huge problem with them. The eshop games they've put out are pretty good

you know how nintendo get criticized that they always release the same game over and over and over and over and over?

pokemon games are the prime sample of that

also fuck whoever made the music for their gba games because it all sounds terrible

>paying three times for almost the exact same game is somewhat better than paying for extra content

fpbp desu senpai

An incredibly incompetent team who only got lucky thanks to a gifted ideas guy and subsists by raping his legacy with each iteration of the franchise. Almost anybody else could handle Pokémon better than them.

Watch them still pushing the obsoleted "5 games a gen" concept even on Switch despite the console having shown the ability to handle content patches with no problems whatsoever.

My interest for pokèmon has grown thinner as I have grown older

>buying both versions of the base game
There is your problem.
I'd rather pay the full price for an enhanced version of the game that will last me for at least 40 hours than $10 for some extra content I'd barely even look at, given that by the time the DLC comes out I'll have most definitely completed the campaign.

they got worse over the years

Quite literally the laziest developers in the industry sitting on a goldmine of nostalgiafags and morons as a main consumer base.

>prime sample
I think the word you were looking for was 'example'

>it all sounds terrible
A ton of GBA music is amazing, kirby:nid is a great example of awesome music on the gba

They are pretty cool

>people actually bought SM instead of predicting USUM and waiting until that releases
>even if USUM doesn’t come out, you will get SM at a discount since you waited
Game Freak has been following this pattern for years and people STILL doesn’t get it. The only exception was XY (which was garbage) and BW which was accompanied by an entirely new game and story instead of an enhanced version

This. I don't think Gamefreak is incompetent since their games are all functional, but they've been coasting by since the very first titles. While it won't happen any time soon, I think they need a big boot up their arse to make a game that'll stand out instead of yet another 7/10 safe experience.

>Can't program for shit
>Makes dubious decisions
>Seemingly has no idea where to go with the Pokemon series
>Only alive due to their one series they keep rehashing
>Would have jumped the Nintendo ship years ago if they weren't financially obligated to the company
Wonder which first-party team could handle the Pokemon games. I can only think of second parties like Creatures Inc and HAL who already have a bit of Pokemon/RPG experience.

Gf is great this board is retarded.
GF legit loves videogames thats why you hate them

>>won't put actual events for event legendaries because 'it's too hard for kids'
I miss actual events so much, even something as simple as going to the island and fight the legendary had his charm

>A ton of GBA music is amazing
I agree, link related, but I think he was saying that pokemon ost sounds like shit on GBA not that all GBA games have bad music

youtube.com/watch?v=UYdHD1XFFaQ

i didn't mean that gba music sounds terrible
i mean that the music of game freaks title on gba is terrible, drill dozer is as much to blame as pokemon

youtube.com/watch?v=_a7uYPZq8bc

i must admit that listening to it again, it sounds better than i remember

Negativo.
>Other developers were putting out way more demanding games on 3DS that ran better than a turn based RPG
>They've been jewing you with third versions for twenty years. These versions were very likely all doable the first time around at least since Emerald, and they deliberately withhold content and quality of life changes so they can charge you full price again
>Their current third version couldn't even do us the favor of being a sequel like BW2. Seventh generation traded replay value for story focus yet they want you to replay the same story.
>Pokemon has a huge adult/manchild demographic now yet they're intimidated by smartphones. They decided to make a game that was already playable for babies even more baby mode. They won't even add a hard mode because then some players might feel bad when they don't pick it.
>TPCi localization team is fucking horrendous
Platinum was their best game but I never bought it because buying third versions enables them :^)

I prefer what they do now (putting at least one event legend in the game for free, no time limit, Deoxys and Magearna so far). No matter how cool the Darkrai or Manaphy events were, they were time limited content, and that sucks ass.

They play it far too safe considering the immense influence pokemon has.

yeah man fuck DLCs!

>*buys the slightly improved version of same game*

>>people actually bought SM instead of predicting USUM and waiting until that releases

I mean, you can't blame them. The gen before didn't have a third version, and the gen before that had sequels. It's perfectly logical to think they're done with third versions.

The funny thing is they went full jew and made TWO third versions.

>shill
>makes fun of someone buying both versions.
>same person says he would buy both versions.

I don't think they want to make Pokemon anymore, but they have to because it's the only reason they still exist.
Remember Drill Dozer?

They're lazy as fuck

I still have some hope in me that the switch Pokemon version won't be a retarded half baked game but it literally doesn't matter when it's guaranteed to sell like hotcakes.

shit developers who are holding some of the most interesting character designs in vidya hostage

they need to die

They literally said not to get our hopes up. They have their head so deep inside their asses that they'd rather release a half-assed game for some quick bux than delay development and deliver a finished product.

pokemon 3 versions system is basically a more jewish version of dlc and then goty edition

I didn't like Pokemon as a kid but I like it now. It's only gotten better with the years.

>>people actually bought SM instead of predicting USUM and waiting until that releases
>needing to predict when and how they're gonna jew you out

I'm over the series as a whole, sold Moon and ORAS copies without bothering to finish them. They got so bad that I don't even care about it anymore

I just load up showdown every once in a while and have some quick battles.

Did they actually say that? That we shouldnt' expect anything good?

I hate Gamefreak, why does it have to be them who make the pokemon games? I wish pokemon were owned by competent developer who really wanted to make something great. Why can't pokemon be a main Nintendo franchise?

Miyamoto needs to kick their asses

>implying the fanbase would tolerate delays on their shitty first version games
There are so many people already screeching about it that it's not even funny.

>it's this even
Guys, why on earth would you have a positive opinion about the laziest most incompetent game studios in the world?
This is baffling

The sensible fanbase wants a good game
But we all know Pokemon prints money. They could literally shit out the worst mainline title and it'll be a success.

They make games I like. I play them.

Miyamoto is part of the problem

This thread is also posted on /vp/ and only the most die-hard of fans frequent here.

The yearly release is a relatively new thing.

See pic.

Miyamoto should just retire.

Do you not think about how they could be improved?
Do you not want them to be better then, another Pokémon game?

>here
there*

I was more referring to the Switch crowd that was rioting because they bought a Switch expecting it to be out right away.
>sensible fanbase
Possibly less than 5% of the whole.

Wow so cool

That explains it
I don't get it, I LOVE the franchise, hate GF with passion. They've held the games back for so long

Yes, but wanting them to improve doesn't mean I have a negative opinion about them, otherwise I'd hate every developer. I might criticize them at times, but as long as I enjoy their games I can't really say I don't like them.

What does Sup Forums think of most of the first version games that people hate being manned by people like Masuda but they just threw USUM into the hands of some team that is new at directing and making it?

I love pokemon a lot, which is why I hate gamefreak so much.
>Had more fun with a RNG mobileshit spinoff than I did with XY or SM

I think it could have been possible if they didn't spend a single second of dev time on that lazy cash grab known as USUM.

That doesn't sound that bad. Connecting all the regions and making an MMO is a bad idea. But I don't expect them to do anything good either. It'll probably be worse than just not meeting the expectations of delusional fans.

What do you mean?
Yes I like that a new team works on the new games, there itsnt much talent at GF so maybe the new guys will

No, it couldn't have. You're talking about a dev team with zero experience developing for the new system, with a track record of rushing shit, and it being made in such a short time frame means that you'd get an awful unfinished piece of shit that is only praised by idiots who want to feel like they validated purchasing it for a game that wasn't even guaranteed when they did it.
And USUM is just some project thrown into the hands of an entirely different dev team while the main ones (i.e. the directors of XYORAS and SM) are developing the other. It has zero effect on "dev time" for the switch game.

Masuda should stick to composing music, every single game he directed turned out mediocre at best. That new guy who's directing USUM seems promising judging by what we know so far about the games.

Just want to know how people feel about the games being handled by someone else after all this clamoring that they want masuda to go back to making music instead of directing games with his "they should appeal to phone players" shtick.

>And USUM is just some project thrown into the hands of an entirely different dev team while the main ones (i.e. the directors of XYORAS and SM) are developing the other. It has zero effect on "dev time" for the switch game.
I haven't considered this, hope you're right. Or maybe not, considering the best games in the franchise were handled by the B team.

I never get why people get insulted by negative opinions

Why did you feel the need to make this response?

>saying a guy is cool is being insulted
?

If you've been posting on this website for more than two seconds you know exactly what they were trying to imply

They peaked with HG/SS. The next game needs to have a Breath of the Wild style revamp if it's going to survive on the Switch.

get out underage

What was the point of this? Sega didn't even want to publish it after Tembo.

An awful developer, that got very lucky and stumbled upon success. Iwata had to bail them out. They do not deserve the pokemon series.

They wanted to make it and had the spare time and resources to do so.
Nice character designs but I never played it.

Garbage overall

They should make more games that aren't Pokémon. They can be surprisingly competent when they want to be.

Hilariously incompetent. X and Y dropped frames with just TWO fucking pokemon on the screen. They're C-tier developers who caught lightning in a bottle decades ago, and they've been playing it safe ever since.

>drill dozer
my man

>It's only gotten better with the years.
