Nintenbros still buy games for it.
It still brings in the big bucks regardless of being hacked
it has it's own library of good games, why would they kill it off when it's still capable of printing money.
Hell my friend bought one last month to play pokemon.
It's cheap and attracts a major segment of the market, namely parents who want to buy their kids an affordable game device or poorfags who just like games. Until Switch comes out with a revision that's cheaper, it can't fill that role or absorb that segment of the market.
Because even Nintendo likes to watch Switchfags cry about other systems getting games, and they know they can expose the fake Nintendo fans who just hopped on the Switch bandwagon by doing so
You put waaaay too much thought into that.
>Last 3DS Pokemon games later this month
They're not keeping it alive.
i wonder what they will replace it with.
you can't realistically buy 2 switches for pokemons
Can't wait to see the butthurt when Metroid 5 gets announced for the 3DS.
>Was a 3ds fag
>Played all the games that interested me for the system (all ~80 of them)
>Moved on to the switch
???
>significantly cheaper option than switch
>decent library of games
>fully backwards compatible with the DS
I think it will be on shelves for a bit more but I think people know the difference between DS and Switch, eventually I'd like to see it putter off and have Nintendo put EVERYTHING on Switch as a one stop machine
they aren't really keeping it alive though
just releasing games that were already coming out
that said, if they did decide to keep it alive it would be because it has a fuckhueg install base in nipland
It's like the BW2 of the 3ds. Hopefully just as good
S&M were so bad I didn't even finish my copy... It's been a year already and I still can't bring myself to pick it up again.
Please help.
idk, a shit ton of people already own a 3DS and play pokemon and would still buy shit
20+ million or so owners...
Aside from folding, does the 3DS offer anything that a 2DS doesn't? Anything largely impactful?
If I just wanted the handheld so I could play Mario & Luigi Dream Team, Paper Jam, and Pokemon, will I be missing out on anything at all?
This, its getting a lot of games up to next Spring but those were all announced awhile ago. I think the last new thing I'm looking forward to is that SMT Strange Journey upgrade. I've heard good things about that game
3D
A massive install base dingus.
get a 2dsxl or what ever it's called.
3D and a clamshell design.
I used to hate the 2DS but it's a great option for budget players since it's so cheap. Go for it if those are what you want to play.
Get a 2DS XL so it can at least fit in your pocket .
What games are even coming out for 3DS from here on out besides Pokemon?
Nah, not at all for those 2 games. 3D lowers the framerate on pokemon by roughly half, and dream team has almost no benefit from 3D at all, at any point.
get a new 2DS though, better performance in 99.99999% of games.
yeah, after spring we'll see less and less announcements until eventually it gets no new first party titles, and even then it'll be a while before they officially announce that the system is done for
it's not like nintendo is going to announce ahead of time "oh yeah we're closing up on support for 3ds" because that would be a megaretarded business move
I mean yeah nintendo doesn't have a great track record with that kinda stuff but they aren't full pants-on-head
Haven't you guys seen the sales trend? The system keeps on selling at the same rate as before the Switch came out. They won't stop, cause they can't stop.
Strange Journey
Radiant Historia
Persona Q2
DQXI
That's pretty much all you need to sustain the system being alive for another 6 - 9 months. Enough time for them to reach the end of production for their Switch Pokemon title.
What will that code get me?
Yeah, shame we never saw a TWEWY sequel though. Doubt it'll happen on Switch
Other than 3D and the clamshell design, there's no difference between an o2DS and an o3DS. Every model and every firmware can be hacked. You might consider getting an n2DS XL for SNES VC and if you want to play Xenoblade or Fire Emblem Warriors and don't care about 3D.
>no Alolan forms
>only ‘new’ content is shoving in Giovanni
No, they’ll suck
3D hentai
haven't played TWEWY
it's hard for me to get excited about RPGs because I don't really care for most that I've played
I've heard a lot of great things about the game though so I'm sure I'll check it out at some point

Right here bub, jump to this part:
>We view the 3DS as a very important part of our lineup, but really targeted against a different consumer. That product is really focused against new consumers in the Nintendo family, [such as] five, six, seven or 10-year olds [who want] their own dedicated system. And a system [on which] they can play all of these great games. So it’s going to have a different focus: entry consumers and consumers looking for a little bit more value.
Expect shovelware games for kids after USUM hits because that's the shift in target
well, i know DQ11 and Strange Deep Journey are coming that i want in 2018
but those were previously announced
I still play my 3DS in bed once in a while, but that shit is like 7-8 years old or some shit. I'm kind of over it at this point, it lived a long life but its time to move on. The 3DS is tired, let it rest.
Stop having shit taste
Is this one of those things that fuck up your shit if you do it?
Because many people are still buying 3DSs in the last couple of years.. I got mine early 2016. Why would they get rid of something that still sells? You get rid of the shit that doesnt sell, like Wii U.
Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2
Persona Q 2
Unnamed Etrian Odyssey title
you know nintendo, they will keep putting out games for something until it is well and truly dead.
look at the fucking gameboy, it lasted from fucking 1989 until 2002. including the GBA in the "gameboy line", that goes until 2007. the DS went from 2004 to 2011, not as long but just as strong.
i feel like im seeing less 3DS in kids hands now though, they all have phones and tablets, which are WAY fucking more expensive. fucking nu-parents are ruining gaming too, now kids won't grow up with portable GOOD games.
No, don't you like Kizunai?
Games that were/still in production prior to the Switch's success is one reason. Though, unlike Capcom, many have already embraced the Switch and are working on titles for it and I'm in no rush. I'll take another year+ for the next installment of a 3DS hit to make it to the Switch as long as they do it right.
why have 2 devices when pokebank is a thing?
It was a safety net. Nintendo wasn't sure that the Switch was going to take off as it did (considering they came right off their biggest hardware failure ever), so they needed a failsafe should the whole thing bomb.
Same exact thing with pic related. Nintendo claimed that the DS wasn't going to replace the GBA and that it would be a third pillar, but obviously this was their escape plan just incase the DS didn't take off, so they could just push it out of the spotlight and focus on the GBA (like what happened with the Virtual Boy). Of course, it did take off, so the GBA was eventually retired and the DS took its place. Same will happen with the 3DS and Switch eventually.
This is not a general. Remove your trip.
I really don't see why you wouldn't keep it around with that install base.
Think of how cheap it must be to develop for the 3ds relative to the Switch? Same thing has been happening with 3rd party devs and the Vita and that's with Sony TRYING to kill the thing.
>biggest hardware failure ever
That's "What is the Virtual Boy", Alex
I dont see any QR Code options on my 3DS. Wasnt that removed by Nintendo recently?
It still sells higher numbers than any other piece of hardware
Close anything you got running including the camera app and follow the instructions again
Gateway drug.
Oh, I got it now. I didnt see the QR Code button the first time. Neat pic.
>tfw just picked one up on saturday second hand
>firmware version is 11.2
>sd card adapater is in the post ready to get tomorrow so i can crack it
what are some essential games for me to play. Would like some good platformers to play mostly
This is a thread for discussion, where's your involvement, shit poster?
It's hard to take this as fact when the DS (and 3DS) launched with backwards compatibility. Like "Yeah, this isn't mean to replace the current item" but they slap the workings of the current device on the new toy. Even if it failed, there'd be no point in not upgrading to the next thing if it's still usable.
nintendo released data showcasing how majority of people use their switch like a 3ds successor
they tried to market it as a home console but failed, nobody cares about the home part, the switch is successful because the masses thing of it as a powerful handheld so they can excuse the shit graphics, unlike the wii era trash
Starfy. So fucking good.
Almost all of the detective games, special mention for Flower, Sun and Rain.
English translated love Plus.
>That product is really focused against new consumers in the Nintendo family
>held fire emblem hostage for its entire lifespan
reee
Don't, the speakers are trash.
They're fine, just use headphones. It's the volume adjustment slide that's the bigger problem. I literally can't hear anything below 50% when I'm alone.
but they are released now, wait for FE Switch
What's with all these threads lately? The 3ds keep getting games and the whole ds family is one of the best selling consoles in the world. The Switch will get it's time to shine.
A LOT of rpgs.
I mean, if you wanna be really techinical, it'd be the 64DD, which sold even less than the VB.
I think the difference between the Wii U and something like the Virtual Boy is that the latter was less of a big deal than the former. Virtual Boy could of easily been written off as just a gimmicky third pillar experimental thing that never took off. Nintendo still had the N64 and Gameboy to look after that gen. The Wii U on the other hand was literally THE Nintendo home console for the 8th generation, and it was a followup to their most popular console ever. For it to sell THAT low, even worse than the Gamecube (which was previously their worst selling home console), was a disaster and a far bigger problem than the VB's or the 64DD's failure.
To add, I'm using these controller grips that completely covers them and they sound fine, if not a bit muffled. Haven't tried playing it with my hands and intentionally covering it but I imagine it's the same.
My only gripes with it is that the stylus is way too small and the volume adjustment slide is too finnicky. It's a bretty good handheld if it's your first 3DS.
>no Alolan forms
People actually like those lazy recolors? Jesus
>Lazy recolors
>When they give old Pokemon new typings, new movesets, new stats, and new abilities
They're actually a genius way to capitalize on people going, "Not muh original 151" while essentially creating entirely new Pokemon. If anything, I wish Mega evolutions were alt evos that Pokemon could permanently be in. Some of them have great designs that I wish I could keep forever in my party. Some of them should just be straight up evolutions, like Sableye.
The 3DS still has games for 2018
Alola Forms still look retarded and come out as just lazy. GF really went downhill after the DS Era
The Switch has not caused any drop in 3DS sales. Total 3DS sales have been higher this year than they were last year so far.
An option for a second analog control.
Technically it can be done with hardmodding but yeah.
if you think megas should be permanent you obviously have no grasp of the metagame.
You are limited to one mega evolution per battle for balance reasons.
Mega sableye in particular is one of the best megas, and if it was a permanent evolution and didn't waste your mega slot it would be banned from competitive play and would see far less usage as a result.
Grimer/Muk in general looked retarded and was a lazy design. He was just gunk with eyeballs.
Alola forms actually made me interested in certain Pokemon that I would've never given the time of day otherwise. Pic related.
Muk is part of the pollution trio, specifically water pollution. Alolan Muk is designed to look like an oil spill to fit the tropical theme of the game.
Alolan muk is also a considerably better pokemon than muk and has made muk relevant to the metagame for the first time in pokemon history.
the switch just came out ya doofus
wait until it's out for a year to say dumb shit like this
This is all hypothetical and I know it would never happen, but that's why I wish they had originally programmed in the megas to just be alts and not power boosters to begin with. It would be nice to be able to keep Mega Salamence as a permanent member who plays and looks different, but still has balanced stats, rather than steroid one-use "my secret weapon" Pokemon. I also don't think legends should have mega or alt forms at all, especially since nearly every single one just makes them into overpowered pieces of shit.
I see Mega Blastoise and I wish that could be how my Blastoise looked forever. Instead, they had to balance it around for comp because they're so much stronger which comp players hate and you can't keep them which makes it not fun for single player. I don't know why they couldn't just be alt forms like Slowbro and Slowking.
It'd be one thing if it was to balance out lesser used Pokemon in comp like Butterfree, but half the legends who were already frequent contenders have them.
>Shitting on my main man and MVP Alolan Muk
People like you should be against the law
money
