Thank you Microsoft for this great upgrade

Will the step up from graphics ever be as impressive again as with old games vs. games today? Games already look pretty good

Shilling the post

That's it?

Personally I think there's still a big gap between real time graphics and rendered stuff you see in movies. I think there's still a lot of room to be impressed.

>posting a shitty compressed jpg
Retard

Yes so long as next gen consoles aren't held back by dated shitty CPU's even for its time of release.

Wtf I love microsoft now!?

It's not really a case of the upgrade looking good as much as a case of the original looking like garbage

No, due to law of diminishing returns. Now it will just be a very slow linear progression instead of exponential like in the past.

Having that blue figure in the bottom right corner for every game must be annoying to XboneX owners.

And to think they actually paid extra for that "feature"

Diminishing returns is still a meme term. Sure it will eventually be true but there are still big leaps we can make in terms of graphics. Playing on a top tier rig in 4k will give you a taste of what is possible especially if those rigs had been developed for to optimize the hardware power that's being squandered due to current gen consoles holding everything back.

>paying $500 for a slightly sharper image

they both look the same

The right one is 3% less blurry.

The last hurtle is the uncanny valley

we had this thread an hour ago op

Congrats on being able to play a shit game at a slightly higher rez. It was worth the $500

I’m planning on getting an Xbox One X for Halo 5 and 6.

To think that people could use that $500 to put towards a PC that could do that, except look even better, and can do a million other things.

Nope, nothing will compare to the ps2/xbox to ps3/xbox 360 jump because the difference in standard def vs the high def consoles was huge. After that it's just been incremental updates

You're only basing that on the jump to current gen consoles which is still high def. A proper jump to Ultra High Def 4k will be just as big if next gen consoles possess good CPU's. The PS4 Pro and Xbox One X still use dated GPU's which are bottle necked by their even shittier CPU's.

...

I still don't think the jump from 1080p to 4k makes nearly as much of a difference as the 480 to 720/1080 one did

In terms of resolution it's a much higher jump between 1080p to 4k than 480p to 720p/1080p.

>put the most graphically intense thing more to one side of the screen on a jpeg
wew nice once i can sure see the pixels
