Not worth it. You will buy/play 2-3 games a year and it will collect dust most of the time since everything costs more on the platform, ports included.
Its neat, but underpowered and only really has Mario going for it. The online shit is kinda iffy, moreso when you gotta pay to play online pretty soon. I just don't see the console becoming a worthy investment until another ~2 years. Nintendo development is just too slow for the console to be worth getting this early.
Mine has been collecting dust since beating Maro
Do you like the games on it? Do you like handhelds?
I'm not a big Zelda or Mario fan and I love my Switch mainly because I'm a big handheld person. I have a good PC and a PS4 Pro that I enjoy as well but for some reason RPGs on handhelds are just my favorite thing to play. I beat Zelda but only put around 70 hours into it and I got bored of Mario really fast. I think I quit playing it when I got to the Moon.
Splatoon 2 is actually a ton of fun in handheld mode and Xenoblade 2 looks incredible so it was an easy choice for me. I mean, just look at the games on it and decide for yourself.
Reminder that Fire Emblem, Metroid Prime 4, Octopath and Pokemon are coming out 2018 and later so if those games interest you more I'd just wait.
I have $400, should I buy a Switch or a turntable?
Turntable. Duh.
6 games rule ,my friend.
>botw
>oddyssey

>Rabbids

Just sold it back. After I finished Zelda it became a dust collector.
name a more powerful handheld console ill wait
BOTW
Odyssey
Rabbids
Splatoon 2
Fire Emblem Warriors
Xenoblade 2 soon
garbage ill just stick with bloodborne thanks
My suggestion is to be a massive faggot that makes decisions based off of the opinions of virgins on a middle eastern LARP image board
>No more heroes
>Shin Megami Tensei V
>...
FUCK
Why not get the Xbox user?
I like mine a lot, I travel by train and having a Switch is great for killing time.
Shit and shit
Literally garbage and nothing yet
do you like zelda, mario kart, and mario games? if so, BUY IT
Worthwhile games IMO
Odyssey
BOTW
Fire Emblem Warriors
Xenoblade 2 (December)
Prime 4 (2018)
Pikmin 4 (????)
If you didn't own a Wii U, buy these too
MK8 Deluxe
Splatoon 2
Buy it, it's awesome.
Also, 6 games rule. If you know there are at least 6 games you like out/announced, go for it.
I bought mine for Zelda, Odyssey, Metroid, SMT, No More Heroes, Pokémon and Splatoon.
I have 6 games for now, Odyssey, Zelda, 1-2 switch, ARMS, Splatoon2 and Mario Kart, I plan on buying Sonic Mania, Pokkén, Rime and DOOM.
Can't wait for Octopath Traveler.
This is my take too. So depending on how much you want this set I might advise to wait another year. If you REALLY want to play at least 2 games here then go for a Switch now. Otherwise you could wait for a stronger library.
>handheld
are you a child? can you not take videogames when you leave your... ah nevermind
The handheld mode kinda sucks though since it underclocks to hell and most devs seem to only really be mindful of the docked performance and think "well if they wanna play undocked then they gotta live with bad performance, thems the breaks". Nintendo at least makes their 1st party games with hardware in mind. Odyssey had many performance boosters for handheld mode to maintain 60 fps but some other games I've played like Nights of Azure 2 become a choppy mess if undocked.
I'm thinking the exact same thing OP. i wasn't really interested at first but Xenoblade peaked my interest so I started to do a little research on the other games getting released and found my self wanting.
>Collecting dust
>1 week at most
>Rabbids
>Splatoon 2
shovelware
>Xenoblade 2
might be good but only out for nips
OP, Odyssey and BOTW are some of the best in their genre and FE Warriors is fun if you're into the series. But other than that there's literally fucking nothing and 2018 looks dry (in terms of games announced for 2018). I'd recommend waiting until the end of 2018 unless you're really into Mario/Zelda/Warriors (and everything but Mario can be played on another system...)
Arms, MK8, and Splatoon 2 are all hardly functional and I wouldn't expect them to ever improve the online.
Golf Story is pretty fun desu
>taking games with you is for children!!!
Nah faggot, not everyone stasy indoors all fucking day for the entire year.
Some people here work or travel, and they enjoy having a console with them.
Me and my gf travel a lot, so we love handhelds.
Switch is perfect because when we're in the living room we can play it on the tv, when we're in bed but don't feel like sleeping yet we play it in tabletop mode and when we're on trains and such we have it with us. I think the Switch is the perfect console for couples because of the whole "share the controller" thing.
How is Splatoon 2 shovelware? I wouldn't go that far. At most I'd say not worth $60. Splatoon 1 actually launched at budget price (40€ instead of 60€) here in Europe but 2 is full priced which makes it seem even less worth the price tag.
Wat?
Buy a PS4 Pro instead
>Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
>Splatoon 2
>...
FUCK
>"Haha I bet you can't name 6 games"
>Name 6 games
>THOSE DON'T COUNT
Every single fucking time. What is the point of asking for games even when you have already decided no matter what the answer will be you will say those games suck. It's just a waste of everyone's time. I don't know why anyone even responds honestly.
I got one used for $250 in maple money and bought Odyssey for $60, figure I can get a month's worth of bing bing wahoo and then flip it at Christmas for not much lost
do itt
Best Nintendo console since the GC.
>console wars
grow up
Golf Story. Its a charming wee RPG but instead of a battle system you play golf and do golf puzzles
Its a pretty cool and unique system for gaming. Haters will scoff at the 'gimmick' but it's actually liberating as fuck to just pick the system up and take it anywhere with you, even without leaving the house. If future generations of consoles don't offer a similar system like the Switch it will feel like backwards step.
Also, it has some of the best games of the year and plenty more great titles in the next few weeks alone.
Who fucking cares when it doesnt have games?
???
Before that it was collecting dust for ~4 months or more.
>Arms, MK8, and Splatoon 2 are all hardly functional
The only game I've had any trouble with online-wise is MK8.
man are you trolling me? A golf rpg? Are you saying it's good?
This. I didn't even hope to see another great homeconsole by nintendo like the GC was in terms of quality. In terms of sales there was the WiiU :^)
Now it's sony's turn to give us another PS2.
No troll, its pretty fun actually.
youtu.be
>Rabbids and Spaltoon 2 are shovelware.
Putting your desperation aside for a moment, please don't use words which you have no fucking grasp of their meaning. All this does make others regurgitate the word in similar context and over time the meaning of the word is lost. The same ghastly behaviour which has seen silly cunts on this board overuse words like 'meme' and 'cuck' to the point where their original definition no longer applies.
Words should have meaning. You fucking illiterate moron.
>it's actually liberating as fuck to just pick the system up and take it anywhere with you, even without leaving the house.
This. I love playing in handheld mode with the TV going in the background or sitting out on my porch when the weather permits.
If those 2 are shovelware so is the 99% of exclusives from Sony and MS.
Sure they're not as good as the two fucking GOTYs Mario and Zelda, but they're still pretty good games, it just that Nintendo had such a great year that they're easily overlooked.
I want to impregnate a sword
I'll do some research. The trailer look intriguing, and since I dislike golf games that is already something.
If it turns out that there's a golf game in this world that is not boring as fuck I'll have to reconsider everything.
