Perfection
>glitch the doors shut permanently
>move the cannons so nobody can climb in
>glitch the nuke button open so you can spam it
God I just want to go and buy this game

>that bottom-right vertical passage in Kraid's area
Haven't played much of the original metroid, but that looks awful to climb

is that lost temple for wc3?

No map has ever topped blood gulch
despite being a hurr durr console shootan, Halo 2 had a fucking god tier map pool
Sanctuary, Lockout, Ascension, Gultch, I could fill up a paragraph,
the original SW Battlefront also had some pretty god tier maps, if BF2 had geonosis and harbor it would be fucking goat
What is this? Is it Nightfire?
>launch self into tower with tau cannon
>drop down into bunker
>kill fag spamming nuke
>become nuke spamming fag

Black forest
Was gonna post pvp_crossfire but >not Ravine
Ravine is best with real players, that one is best with AI.
The middle of the map in use map setting kills the units flying into it. The first gas that you can take without dropping is halfway between you and your teammate or enemy.

fucking lost temple man
I always liked the asymmetrical maps in Blizzard's RTS games
There's something about 2 Flag CTF on Blood Gulch that is just so goddamn good you cherish every memory you have of it.
>no cover
Blood Gulch has always been overrated
even the official revamps are not good
I mean it's not bad given the lack of time and testing and the lack of any major intent to even have multiplayer, and I definitely have a bit of nostalgia for Coag and Hemorrhage, but I wouldn't say that Blood Gulch or its successors are that good, slightly above average at best
all of the vertical areas in Metroid are awful to climb, that's like reason #2 no one goes back and plays the whole thing (reason #1 is it's stupidly easy to get lost)
Underrated post. I always loved that map.

good with the right players
if there's too much of a pistol skill mismatch and map knowledge mismatch one team (or 40-70% of the players) will end up getting spawnkilled for the next 10 minutes
I honestly wish I could find more faults, because this is held up as the best map ever by lots of people, including some I don't like
but there's just not much to fault
it's not that good for symmetric gametypes but it's not designed to be, and besides that and maybe the sword there's not much to complain about
Is this from the small soldiers game?
my fucking man right here

Office makes me wish there was a pistol only mode. Seems like a mode like that could be quite a bit of fun in a close quarters level like that

*blocks your path*
I like that tile set, mainly because the levels let you create sort of natural base set ups if you know what I mean
dwango5
tbqh I think it was intended for vehicles
Still one of my favorite maps for Doom 2, mainly because of the layout.
Is that Generals? I really should try playing that game again, it's been so many years since

Average Zdaemon server list
> Dwango5 map01
> Dwango5 map01
> Dwango5 map01
> Dwango5 map01
> Dwango5 map01
> Dwango5 map07
Part of why I hate Zdaemon so much, aside from it basically being a really shitty and limited version of Zdoom
Only tried Generals once and didn't like it as much as the other C&C games. It felt like it was just trying really hard to be Starcraft
>liking symmetric mirror-mode shite
You're the reason RTSs died.
So much fucking fun
>tfw you will never play perfection again
I can't be the only one who likes these kinds of maps where you're basically on a level that's constantly moving can I?
I hope you are good at protecting those cutoffs, bro.
...
>tfw you could actually rocket jump decently well, so you'd fly around in the open space easily and get to anywhere you wanted faster than a scout using a teleport
>tfw your aim was so good as Sniper you got accused of being a hacker for the first time on this map
>tfw all the times you lucked out as Spy and got a chain of backstabs on retards crowding around the payload with zero situational awareness
>tfw jumping on the payload, crouching, and revving up your minigun as brass beast heavy
>tfw even after ten years and massive changes, such as tf2 going f2p, multiple attempts to dethrone it, and several years without any decent content, it still has a good community and all of this is still possible

Hundreds of wc3 custom maps
It's a shame nothing more got done with the Special Delivery gamemode.
Nah, Badlands
Oh shit, I remember this map! Used to enjoy playing mindless comp stomps on Bay of Pigs. Top comfy.
TF2 has like 3 or 4 gamemodes at this point that only have like 1 map for them.
its stupid as hell, valve is that lazy that they made gamemodes and only gave them one shitty map and then wondered why everyone hates the gamemode
Oh.
I never played TFC, but I heard it had it's own version of 2fort, or some map that inspired 2fort.
best map ever made
What was up with BF1942 and having gigantic portions of the map being useless.
Tightly controlled ground warfare plus dogfighting.
Maps like Omaha Beach have no excuse though.
>mfw HM Cog of Destiny
>All those status staves and siege tomes
>Valkyries actually capable of not being doubled by faster units and capable of doubling slower units
This chapter is such a huge outlier to the rest of the game, enemy units even on hard mode generally have shit stats and are pretty easily doubled but the difficulty spike here is huge
...
What are you implying about El Alamein?
That one mine level in Dystopia, the one where each spawn point has several cyberspace terminals. Mainly because the main focus of combat in that one is actually in cyberspace
RIP Dystopia gone but not forgotten
imo its one of the things that makes 1942 better than the new games
when more of the map is open to the player like that it lets you be a lot more creative in how you play the game e.g. you can flank as far as you want to get around certain positions
tbqh I think Valve didn't expect TF2 to do nearly as well as it is.
It's a decade old, and is still in Steam's top 5. Hell, it would be higher, but PUBG has bumped it a bit lower.
Wasn't TF2 just released as part of a bundle by Valve?
I mean, obviously Valve put effort into it, since they usually do with games When they even bother to make them
And they still expected it to die out, but I think the recent Jungle Inferno might be a sign of them realizing it probably isn't going to die yet.
But I doubt valve would ever work on it for profit, given that steam probably gives them so much TF2 income is peanuts.
Childhood is when you play the objective
Adulthood is when you realize fucking around with the jeep for 30 minutes makes more sense
...
gazala had the neutral airfield in the upper left though
That map was awesome
Why is UT the game with best map design? All maps are pretty unforgettable
someone's gotta spot those submarines
>game name: NO NOOBS
>start positions: fixed
>resources: high
>axis team: stacked
YES
...
>implying the allied rush on 6 doesnt gg it in 10 mins
Yes. And it wasn't considered sniper/sentry hell because everyone was using grenades to jump around or destroy sentries
I loved the specialist.
Damn shame like 90% of the servers were just RP servers
>player spends time and resources walling himself off
>build onagers and bumrush him from the side
Tell me about the days of TFC, grandpapa
Not even being sarcastic, I've played TF2 more than any other game in my steam library, and I'm curious about it's predecessor.
true, although it was very rare to see anyone get any real use out of the b17
Demoman had detpacks which could breach holes in certain areas
Spies faked their death instead of cloaking
Medics were super scouts
