Who in their right mind would enjoy having a worse experience playing a game on a buggy software that doesn't work for most games aside from the handful it was specifically hacked together for which still play worse than on the actual hardware?

Only up to gen 4
PS1 and beyond is a nightmare I dont want to deal with

Can I hack animal crossing to make it less autistic.

ye

Gonna take that as a 'no'

I enjoy emulating gba, ds, and 3ds games on my New nintendo 2DS XL!

No, I like to own them physically and support the devs.

Anyone who doesn't is missing out.

What's a good control setup for emulating super mario galaxy?

>support the devs
>14y+ old games

>breath of the wild is a 14yr+ old game

>buggy
I'm sorry that you cant configure your software properly :(

Just bind waggle to a button and regular pointing with the mouse

Nothing is stopping you from buying it.

whta site do you guys use to get roms?

I buy them and rip them myself.

All my PS2 games I ripped myself, and I've had all my NES, SNES ROMs and PS1 ISOs forever

No amount of configuring will make PJ64, ESPXE, PPSSPP, PCSX2, or CEMU decent or accurate

Use any controller that supports gyro and bind waggle and pointing to that.

>PPSSPP
Because it's already perfect.

How can I emulate N64 on my Wii-u?

N64, Gamecube, PS2 (mostly), PSP, and DS are all easy to emulate though. I've never had trouble with emulating PS1 games myself either.

GC and Wii are literally the easiest things in the world to emulate. Dolphin is so fucking good holy shit

Hello ATLUS employee

I stopped emulating for superior softmodding.
PCSX2 has too much input lag, Dolphin has too many graphical glitches and stuttering.
Don't get me wrong, dolphin is amazing and most games run perfectly, but I don't like getting halfway through a game and reaching a level where the effects bug out the entire screen.
I played through most of Xenoblade on dolphin and just got too annoyed with the audio stuttering. And I have a good rig, messed with the settings for hours, etc.

I don't really like emulating, I'd rather buy the physical stuff and get a CRT. Don't matter if it's one of these PVM/BVM meme televisions, composite will still look good even if it "bleeds" some colors. And plus most emulators after 4 gen can't even emulate properly. It's best to just buy the real hardware, maybe look around to see if someone is giving away their old television and and use that, or if you're too lazy buy one of those "framemeister" things that put pseudo scanlines. Looks way better on the real deal.

Archive.org has fullsets for everything. 6th gen down.

It's a lot more convenient and less expensive to just open up a program on my pc then have a half dozen bit-rotting old consoles sitting next to a TV to wire in and swap disks for

I don't even have a TV any more

Ye.
Watching a Mario Odyssey stream made me finally try the 3D Mario games. Apart from the camera SM64 is pretty great so far.
Also finished Ristar for the first time recently. Best shit Sonic Team has ever put out.

When are we going to get a PS2 emulator that isn't fucking trash?

PCSX2 is great though.

Glad you enjoyed Ristar. As much as I want a sequel, Sega would certainly fuck it up or at the very least make an inferior game.

People like you are an absolute joke.

Oh god why does Sly 2 look like this

Most games I've ran on that software works perfectly fine. Maybe you just aren't running the right settings? Or you have a weak ass computer. Even my smartphone runs PJ64 and Dolphin flawlessly for that matter.

(You)

Depends on the game. PCSX2 is far from perfect, it's even far from where Dolphin is now.

Some games still don't run well, others run better than original hardware.

Fuck I want to take a trip to japan. Is it worth if I'm only interested in the "culture" side of it with only a tiny bit of sightseeing?

No it isn't. It may "work" but it isn't accurate.

get on my level, pleb

I do but I wish you could choose to be anything other then a dwarf in pic related

you don't want your game looking good like this?

> Who in their right mind would enjoy having a worse experience
ie, console gaming
> playing a game on a buggy software that doesn't work for most games aside from the handful it was specifically hacked together for
ie, consoles.
>which still play worse than on the actual hardware?
Actual hardware, ie, PCs.

Same. Especially due to input lag. I played Super Mario Sunshine on a 4K monitor with high res UI and 60fps hack on a very good rig. This was when the sound wasn’t working and sped up (apparently it’s “fixed” ??). Sound aside, I still prefer it on actual hardware. The UI replacement sucks but that’s not my issue. My issue was shaded cache stuttering at the beginning especially, input lag, and feeling off in general. Also the water and goo never looked right. Too much work to even get it up and running.

I actually had it on my backlog for a while, but "some one off game from the sonic developers" doesn't really sound too enticing. People raving about it on /vr/ made me finally play it.

>tfw I can get a CRT shader that looks just as good as the real thing

Either get the real deal or don't bother.

I would say so, considering I have nearly 10,000 games.

Thank god it doesn't.

That's even worse.

>playing games on a poorly coded N64 emulator

It works well enough to not distract me from my fun but it's as good as the original system right now, hopefully in a year or so when I feel the urge to replay it they will have fixed the bugs with the high resolution and lighting

what's your reason as to why it is bad

All five worthwhile N64 games work anyway.

What's your build? It runs okayish on my 8350 (ie 10 fps)

How many of those have you played

N64 had more than five worthwhile games.

Crash Bandicoot never looked so good til now.

>filterfag
>Can't even use the proper name of a shaderfag

1,000,000% of them

Just because you're too stupid to do something, doesn't make it impossible.

>Crash Bandicoot never looked ... good
Fixed.

3D games are even easier, why would I want to play that on original hardware on an awful CRT when I can emulate it at 16x the native resolution? Why deal with that hideous shadow mask and scanlines when I could have a crisp clear picture devoid of those artifacts?

whose you

How many more?

I will never understand the point of asking this.

five

you're right

maybe as powerful as a GTX 1060

oh

2.

Mario 64
Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask
Pokemon Stadium 2
Banjo-Kazooie
Star Fox 64
F-Zero X Expansion Kit

>not emulating the HD version of WW

>emulating Wind Waker Bloom Edition

Super Mario 64
Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask
Perfect Dark
Banjo Kazooie
Banjo Tooie
Star Fox 64
Pilotwings
Kirby 64: Crystal Shards
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Mario Kart 64
Paper Mario
GoldenEye 007

...

>putting more resources into emulating a game that looks worse

>Banjo-Kazooie
I tried it since everyone raves about how amazing it is, just felt like a silly kids game.

Not many sadly, It's like Smash, the two Zeldas, Ogre Battle 64, Perfect Dark, and Jet Force Gemini.

It is. Definitely not for everybody.

Actually, now that I think about it, fuck BK. Paper Mario instead.

I have a 6700, gtx 970, and 8 gb ram

Other than not having enough ram to be able to run that piece of shit Chrome at the same time as the emulator I have no complaints

Why would I? The original looks better.

>anything more powerful than a Super Nintendo
>needs complex custom configurations for each individual game
>usually still janky in some way
Why don't it just werk?

I'm going to download Paper Mario. My friend swears by it, especially the soundtrack.

Dolphin, Mednafen and PPSSPP work just fine.

JUST

Plug in based emulators aren't worth using at all. Use these

PCSX2 plays more games better than Dolphin and has software mode, it's a stupid comparison.

Yes, it is.

Dolphin works so well it would make Todd blush

>Emulation is too complicated
What a sad life you must live.

I've had some slow downs on certain but ever game I've played works. I do have a toaster though.

When are we gettng a switch and Xbox emulators

12,000 years from now

Around the same time PS2 emulation becomes good.

...

>new console / game is released
>people want to play it but cant justify buying a console
>devs see this
>make horrible hacky emulator that can only play a select few games reliably
>emulator is used for a decade before it is replaced
We are just starting to recover from the 5th gen emulator rush thanks to mednefen and Cen64.

Get more people to stop donating to Cemu and RPCS3.

Fuck you buddy they're worth it

GBA HARDWARE STATUS: OBSOLETE

>Open source, donations only there to keep devs working full time on project
>lumping them in with the kikes at CEMU
yeah fuck no, buddy.

How could anyone go back to original hardware?

What emulator is this?
