I want to play some comfy ass RPGs to emulate. Don't much care for setting, but Fantasy is probably best. Think things like Dark Cloud, which I never finished or FFX. Stuff with a lot of narrative, traveling, that sort of stuff.
Any reccomendations? Was thinking of getting Dark Cloud or Dark Chronicle, but wanted to see if there was anything else I've missed.

Any Mario RPG is pretty comfy to play.

Do yourself a favor and play Radiata Stories. One of the comfiest RPGs on the PS2.

Looks cute. Details?

I couldn't beat this game. Fuck that Ice Queen whore. Literally impossible
Elijah Gutierrez
I couldn't beat this game because I used a damn pelican cheat code, it just made dungeon loading screens crash the game :/
Mason Gonzalez
Final Fantasy 12

This. For all the shit people give the game, it has one of the nicest worlds and doesn't feel like a slog to run through random encounters, thanks to the combat system.
William Anderson
I happened to get a really good weapon for the hammer guy in a chest and used that. Wouldn't have gotten close without it. Just do the merchant broken dagger glitch to max out weapons early.
Jace Ramirez
I just used a buffed up sun sword

Phantasy Star Online ep 1 and 2 on gcn is the epythome of comfyness to me.
Zelda Botw is pretty comfy as well.
Mother 3 is a must if you never played before.
CrossCode on steam its also comfy and underrated as hell. Goddamnit that game. I spent so many hour just on sidequests. Its just comfy. Its like Ys and Phantasy Star Online had a baby.

>want to play Dark Cloud 2 again >start playing >suddenly remember how shitty the grind for materials is >drop game after first dungeon
Oliver Cox
DC was comfy as hell. Chronicle wasn't nearly as comfy.
Jason Jackson
>spent hundreds of hours grinding or making new saves >many of those hours being lost time when I died without saving or lost power >still never beaten the extra dungeon since I want to beat Dark Cloud 1 first
I'm probably biased playing the 2nd game first. DC1 feels outdated, and I like the cheesy story/voiceacting of the second. All the extra minigames (spheda, fishing, etc.) was fun. I do like in the first how the villagers wanted specific ways of how the town is built.

I've been replaying FFXII, it's a seriously underrated gem of a game

>tfw stalking a cute mage girl trying to figure out how to recruit her in your party
Parker Evans
So I should just emulate now instead of waiting for the remaster to hit steam?
Josiah Diaz
Can you wait till June 2018~?
Otherwise just have fun and play it now

Legend of Legaia, criminally underrated game

Wait, the Zodiac version is so much better than the original.

I never played the zodiac version so I can't speak for it, but the original release is good enough so I say yeah

I always enjoyed the first Dark Cloud better for the darker tone and character variety. The 100 floor extra dungeon was a fun challenge back in the day too. Dark Cloud 2 has more quality of life improvements though.
Aiden Cruz
It is? In what regard?
Evan Torres
It just makes traversing and grinding much less tedious because you can speed the game up by 2x or 4x. However if you're emulating you can do the same shit.
Oliver Hughes
Fair. Neko girl and the genie were fun. I haven't played the game in years. Got stuck on the moon dungeon. I would like to try the 100 floor dungeon
