It's not, fuck off

Rareware goggles.

you mean nobody ever noticed the decade long drought on platformers after this game came out?

Because people only started to play retro games again a few years ago?

It's flawed but mostly good.

I hated this game before it was cool.

HE

It didn't take people very long at all.

All of my friends were making fun of Rare after this.

I barely pushed myself to finishing it.

The game is okay, but it didn't take me long to realize that it was pretty mediocre for the most part. Too many collectables and the game had some very frustrating parts in it that were very unfun to play.

You must have never played it because it has always been cool

it feels fun but its fake fun. feeling the weight of the characters moving around is good but the worlds are boring once youve explored them with one kong

>reading comprehension

HAS

KANGZ

When I was little I thought it was great, so much to do, five different characters, cool moves. But going back is oainful as fuck because you mostly go back and forth shooting switches, groundpounding switches, collecting the same shit five times, playing the same minigames over and over.

Because 3D

I think it's the only collectathon that has entirely to much shit to collect.

Only reall niggas have that yellow cartridge

When *You're favorite e-celeb* told you it was bad

Oh that was a limited edition thing?
I have it somewhere and no way to play it because I lack the jumper pack thing.

My memory isn't the best, but as far as I can tell people always had something of a love/hate relationship with the game.

That whole switching characters shit and having to back and forth all the time and how long it took to transition between areas. Was always shat on. Day one.
On the flip side of that however people still really liked the characters that the game forced you to switch to/between all the time. So even if the process was a slog, actually playing the characters was something people tended to enjoy.

And a lot of the areas may be extraordinarily huge. Without all that much stuff actually filling them out. And even though the scale itself was kind of impressive, since scale on its own was far more novel at the time, the secrets, easter eggs, and sheer spectacle of most of it was something people kept enjoying.

I could go on. But in short the game has always had plenty of problems and most have them have always been recognized too. It's just that the game in spite of that still actually did a lot of things right. And at the time I'd argue it was still a game you probably should check out if you liked those types of games. Because there really weren't that many other games that did it better. And for all the shit that it unquestionably does wrong, some of the cool and neat stuff in the game remains cool and neat to this day. You just have to access it first. And if you had the time back in the day you might as well.

But yeah the game has serious issues and I'd be hard pressed to recommend it to anyone to today outside of the biggest enthusiasts who just want to experience a piece of videogame history. And I barely have any desire whatsoever to replay the game myself.
Perhaps if they remade the game somehow and fixed many of its most glaring issues. Though even if it was to get a remake it truth be told would likely still be quite flawed. A remake could still be cool though I guess.

It's a fun playthrough long as you don't bother to get 101% completion, just too many thingamajigs to fuck with.

11 year old me thought it was absolutely amazing and I spent months having fun with it. I very fond memories of it.
Anything else is irrelevant.

because most of the people who played this game and is in Sup Forums are babies who only emulated it and never had the real experience since even today they can't emulate it properly.

Look at this thoughtful motherfucker.

Bein sincere and shit.

Earnest ass nigga

any 5 line text in Sup Forums is now considered based. I've seen pastas being quoted, argued and demonized just yesterday.

Because most people here weren't even born when it came out, and the only experience they have with it is through shitty emulation.
Banjo-Kazooie is superior to DK64, which is superior to Banjo-Tooie.
Still, DK64 is nothing less than a masterpiece.
Any other opinion shows only how much of a contrarian you want to be, like fags saying that ocarina of time wasn't so good.
Mind process is: I'm literally no one -> i want to be noticed -> i need to say something that draws attention -> i know, let's shit on something everyone loves.
Next we'll get is that gta san andreas is shit, a link to the past is shit, crash is shit, mario64 is shit and so on. I hate this place.

I hated Sunshine when I was 11 years old. Get on my level chump :^/

It hasnt aged well at all. Enjoyed it as a kid but find it very tedious to play nowadays meanwhile I still enjoy Banjo Kazooie and Tooie

I absolutely love the game and have fond memories of my late father helping me out with a couple bosses (the forest boss, waking me up late at night to tell me he beat the ice cavern boss).

The gameplay isn't perfect, it shows some cracks of in the collectathon genre, but for the audience it was aimed at, it was great.

I'd say much of the same for Tooie.

I concur. The Banjo games are fantastic and just unbelievably good quality all round. DKC2 is great too. DK64 is just bizarre in how generic and tedious most of it is.

no one cares about your childhood. It's not because your mom and dad gave you these games when you were little we should like it too. Almost all n64 games aged very badly. Including mario, zelda, banjo and dk. Sorry.

Replaying it now I just hate the camera and controls a lot. A product of its time really. I'd love to see a remake that can make it more palatable as a game.

I feel like most of the games issues could be fixed by just allowing the player to swap kongs at almost any time.
There really is an impressive variety of abilities and obstacle types. It really helps every part of each level feel very unique.

I wonder what the chances of this being a Donkey Kong 64 remake.

I played this game when I was the target audience and it was the dopest shit ever. What are you on about?

>HE meme is over 3 years old.

Fuck.

The Nintendo Bonus. People only started hating it after Rareware was acquired by Microsoft. Nintenbros will call any piece of shit game good if it's a Nintendo exclusive.

This is incredibly spot on. Well done sir

I was pretty decent for me altho I can see the backtracking killing it for most folk. I was lucky and got this over the summer when alot of friends and family would be around so we all played one savefile making the backtracking not so bad.

All your base is 19 years old.

People never liked DK64 you fucking underage newfag. It's a BK rehash with 500 times the redundant collectibles and backtracking on top of that, and it retains none of the atmosphere of the DKC games.

That's the only color it came in unless you're a Europoor.

What you say

How long did it take you to delude yourself that people think that?
