Anyone here that has an RX Vega 64? Im getting one as a gift next week, how is the fine wine thing going, cant find any new benchmarks and reviews every review i see works with the press drivers that fucked up oc and wattman. Too late to get another card the vega has already been ordered

You dun goofed.

Sucks you got AMD but hey at least you get performance similar give or take to a GTX 1080 for free.

i refuse to support nvidia's scummy practices anyway

So you're going to support AMD scummy practices instead? Like MSRP getting bumped a hundred dollars up because "that was just the release MSRP", or miner pandering?

>ooga booga nvidia boogeyman

I mostly game in 1080p (or the one just above that, 1440 or whatever) would Vega be overkill compared to just getting a high end RX580?

AMD are way more blatant with their scummy practices besides its not AMDs problem their cards are good at mining, and ofcourse you'll pander to the people that mostly buy your cards aka miners unlike nvidia which pays devs under the table for better optimization

>buying any graphics card before black friday
you're literally just asking to be ripped off

the RX Vega 56 is usually a bit better than a 1070
the RX Vega 64 is said to be equal or in some games a bit better(in some a bit worse) to the gtx 1080

i didnt buy it, someone bought it for me because i told em i needed a new gpu like 3 months ago, and they happened to pick out the rx vega 64 besides we aint got black friday here or atleast discounts dont usually fall on pc hardware

>how is the fine wine thing going
The whole point of the 'fine wine' thing is that the drivers get better over time. Vega is still relatively new.
Plus its only really true with the third-party drivers and while parts of them are already much faster than AMD's own driver, other parts are still only roughly at parity.

We're almost at the point where if you buy AMD hardware, you should only be doing it if you plan to use the third-party Mesa drivers.

Hey man whatever floats your boat my previous GPU was a HD7950 but there's no way I'm going back to AMD.

yea i understand i've had plenty of AMD but i'd have to say they have went light years with later generations, last "old" amd gpu was the r9 390 and that was a fucking power house, since then amd has been doing more than just sticking big specs in them

>vega is so good, Pajeet got fired over it
lol

I'm still pissed off at how the RX480/580 was pretty much the best value for money card but it's impossible to pick up at a reasonable price thanks to fucking bitcoin miners.

If it wasn't for the mining boom, there'd still be plenty of 580s in the wild, there'd be less interest in the VEGA cards and everyone would have been able to buy what they wanted without being price gouged.

raja seemed like a cool guy besides no one would really hide if he got fired, he genuinly took a break i guess he wasnt overly happy about how vega came out, from what i've seen in reviews it has a huge undervolt overhead its insane

Why not? The 7950 was an excellent card. The drivers were a little rough at first, but its absolutely rock solid now and still routinely performs at the level of $200 cards today, which is around what I paid for mine.

Wait, you use AMD's official drivers don't you?

>no one would really hide if he got fired
You don't get corporate speak, do you? He's fired.

why hasnt anyone given concrete evidence then? somebody should have opened their mouth at some point, i'd say if anything he's on a forced leave, that vega launch was rough and im sure that costed em

Bacause it would hurt amd market price. He's not some random engineer but the head of RTG.

Its not that simple though, because he's almost certainly not fired since they don't want him going anywhere else.

i think they gave him a slap on the wrist and send him on a time out leave to clear his head before Navi

>Im getting one as a gift next week
It's a great card just say thanks mommy after getting it.

>no dvi port

This is why I stick with Nvidia. My monitor doesnt have a display port yet hdmi cant do 144fps.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the video portions of HDMI and Display Port are electrically identical to DVI and passive display port or hdmi to dvi cables are cheap and readily available.

OH really? Thats good then. Now I can consider amd cards again.
