What went right?
Deciding to do a System Shock sequel, but not fuck it up like BioShock.
Actual good level design
it was fun
Pretty much everything. It's low-key game of the year.
>the level design
>fully realized space station setting where pretty much everyone and everything is accounted for
>multiple ways to approach/solve almost everything
>consistently dangerous enemies
>the intro
Nothing. It was mediocre shit people forgot about in a month
T. someone who hasn't played it
>I have shit taste and go out of my way to post in threads about games I don't care for
>people forgot about in a month
same could be said for many games that were released this year, nioh, tekken 7, re7, gr2 etc were "forgotten" two weeks later
hell even p5 is nothing but waifu threads and botw is either cemu pc emulator or just pure shitposting
its a complete package, no day one dlc or a season pass, made by people who wanted to make a good game
So no nu-Sup Forums meme, this is good game?
As someone who loved System Shock 1 and 2, and hated BioShock, this was a great game.
listen the OST
It was alright, solid 7/10 in the original sense.
In a weird way before the switch hit the scene PS4 and xbone were being stale. It's ending thier life cycle which is normal unfornately great games get snubbed because the players is amping up for a new system
SO SO FAST, THE SAILING SHIP
A good shotgun effect and the recycle machine. I’m pissed that it’s not getting 1X support because of poor sales
it was really bland, the combat was boring and the art style was just down right lazy. blobs of energy arent fun to shoot or smack and the 'survival' aspect of the game ruined the flow of combat. I give it a 2 for at least not being another bloated installment in a franchise, which it will probably turn into anyways.
It is a legit great game. Like that other user said it's one of the only titles I've played in the last few years that felt complete from day 1. Yes it had a few bugs but it didn't feel like anything had been left out to sell back to you at a later date. I would actually look forward to a sequel which is a rare thing in vidya nowadays.
This.
>tfw both this game and DX4 flopped and devs won't want to make 0451 games anymore
Top 5 in 2017 which is great since 2017 was a great year.
If it released 2016 it would have been Goty that year.
>I'm a huge faggot, please rape my face.
...
>Talos I is a great station that feels fully realized
>Lots of ways to interact with the environment and approach enemy encounters
>Weapons feel great
>Game's arc is switching from the hunted to the hunter in the hunter/prey dichotomy
>Great visuals
>Top tier level design
The ending really left a sour taste in my mouth though. Relegating the "twist" to a post-credits sequence? What the fuck we're they thinking.
Good varience in abilities
>The recycle mechanic with recycle charges
>The Looking Glass aesthetic
>Level design
Things REALLY lost steam for me when I got to the GUTS. It feels like such a long slog to the destination that I don't want to keep going on. Plus the more advanced typhon like the Fire Poltergeist or Technopath with their ranged attacks feel like bullshit to fight against 80% of the time, though that may be because of the difficulty I'm on. Though, something isn't right when I find them harder to fight against than the behemoths.
The worst are those flying dudes who spawn all those kamikaze aliens. Not only are they hard to hit, they also do that attack that screws up your aiming.
>mfw slide/shotgun combo
>mfw the first thing I did with my neuromods was max out movement speed right away
