it stands on the shoulders of giants, in morrowind and oblivion
it allows for a much more realistic gameplay, where skills are upgraded as you use them, not arbitrary exp points, you can loot people naked, etc. also lots of lore
also lots of mods, the only real reason i played it for as long as i did was sky kids
