Cappy in Galaxy stages.
babby luma is the only one that doesn't completely trivialize platforming
>mid-air adjustment
Fuck this. Mario 64 is the best.
Voice goes to F.L.U.D.D.
Design goes to F.L.U.D.D.
Actual gameplay goes to _fludd
Instead he kills all momentum, good trade-off
Ignoring gameplay, anyone but Cappy. Cappy is fucking terrible.
...
>the one used 80% of the time to correct fucked up jumps doesn't trivialize platforming
and don't reply to me saying you didn't do that
Cappy is most fun and has a good voice
Luma may as well not exist
Fludd sucks except the turbo nozzle
>Cappy is most fun and has a good voice
100% wrong, especially the voice.
My man and he's been doing this for 15 years.
Cappy does everything Luma or Fludd can do, but better
Voice is subjective, but I don't have a problem with it
>Cappy does everything Luma or Fludd can do, but better
Wrong again kiddo.
and floating piantas
this.
Look seriously wtf, explain how anyone could consider fludd bad? he is a great addition. he adds depth to the platforming not simplicity. you just don't get it. you just don't get sunshine. you just don't get video games.
Luma, because he is a gift from the best girl.
F.L.U.D.D. isn't a core part of Mario's moveset in Sunshine and I feel like that's what makes him so great. Like, you can get through the entire game without using the Hover Nozzle and that adds a whole new layer of skill to Sunshine. Cappy and Luma are pretty much core parts of Mario's movesets in their own games and they are required to beat it.
Also, where the FUCK is my "minimal captures" run of Mario Odyssey? I want to know how few enemies you need to capture to be able to beat the game.
That would be an interesting run, I bet it's only a few, like the toad and whatever. You can do some crazy shit and that game that might let you skip a lot of stuff.
To be fair, you have to have a very high iq to understand Super Mario Sunshine
Frog -> Chain Chomp -> ...... -> Bowser
So at least 3, can't be that hard to minimize with how abundant Moons are
Everybody is inferior to Kazooie
You can skip the frog, actually, but it takes a bit of precision. You forgot that you have to capture the electric pylon at the end of Cap Kingdom, so it wouldn't change anything, though.
sorry for the faggy video
youtube.com
Being capable of not using it doesn't mean it's not a core part. You're clearly intended to use the Hover Nozzle in places like the Bianco windmill and the Secret Stage Red Coin challenges.
Sorry you suck and can't appreciate fun movement options.
As opposed to 100% and 100%
>Also, where the FUCK is my "minimal captures" run of Mario Odyssey
I know HelixSnake has been workin on that
Cappy. Quick, natural, fun as fuck. Bouncing off of Mario's hat and just tossing it at shit is so nice.
nice momentum you have there
lmao
hover mobility is so awkward. spraying shit is dumb too. and if you honestly think rocket or turbo control well and are fun to use, get help.
Cappy let's you turn into characters with completely different movesets. You can't compete with that.
Fludd:
>makes platforming easier
>has to constantly be re-filled
>look! goo physics! clean that shit up and be impressed by grafix!
>annoying-ass voice
>made by a perverted old scientist shoe-horned because "remember Luigi's Mansion"
Luma:
>special snowflake of Nintendo's Lightning
>is an enabler for "mom said it's MY turn to play" mechanics
>turns mario into a point-and-click
Cappy
>capture ability allows for a variety of gameplay mechanics
>jumping is easy to learn but hard to master
>cute-ass ghost who gives helpful hints/advice only when necessary
Cappy a best.
All gimmicks, Mario would be funner if you didn't have them. Crutches so tiny children can beat the game too.
FLUDD
>fludd makes platforming easier
>but cappy doesn't
Odysseyfags really are retarded
everything about your fludd is either fine/good/wrong.
fludd gives you a slow and steady hover. feels like it was made for babies.
cappy's moves are full of quick and precise actions.
>>jumping is easy to learn but hard to master
Lmao no it isn't, it's piss easy to master. No jump moves in Odyssey are even remotely difficult even by Mario game standards.
this
>implying having refill FLUDD is a good thing
By your logic Cappy makes platforming easier than Fludd because it's so quick and snappy and precise in comparison to Fludd. Do you not have a brain?
Cappy:
>jump
>ground pound
>timed-jump
>throw Cappy
>trigger-dive while holding Cappy button
>punch mid-air
>throw Cappy
>dive
Fludd:
>HOLD DOWN R, LOL
You need to be fucking precise with cappy
One slightly misaligned aim can fuck up everything
>You need to be fucking precise with cappy
not really since throwing him removes all momentum and makes mario float in mid air for a couple seconds. Even if you make a mistake you can easily correct the mistake with that down time.
Cappy's pretty cool. I think he adds enough to the game to not feel pointless, unlike the Luma, and his gimmicks don't slow down the game as much as Fludd.
Fludd and Luma supply only one option in regards to platforming, outside of contextual level gimmicks and power-ups
Cappy has so many more options and controls much better
>a mechanic that allows you to slowly hover at will in a platforming game is harder to use than a mechanic that has to be aimed and deployed in a short action window
FLUDD does nothing but slow the game down, Cappy speeds it up.
You're right, I'd rather have a boring game than have freedom.
It is, it keeps the game from being blatantly casual we don't need endless "qol" improvements.
Why turbo nozzle when you can spray the ground and slide on it?
punch mid air?
throwing cappy a second time for no reason?
You're padding.
Stop being such a tryhard. It's Mario for fucks sake. Is all your taste based on impressing us?
Cappy>FLUDD>Luma
Search your heart. You know this to be true.
Cappy > F.L.U.D.D. > Luma
Cappy adds a fuckton of movement to Mario's moveset even without factoring in the capture ability. All the long jump -> cap -> dive -> cap bounce -> cap -> dive tricks you can pull off really allow more experienced players to do more crazy stuff.
F.L.U.D.D. is more of a "oh shit I fucked up" tool instead of an extension of Mario's moveset.
Who the fuck cares about Luma
>FLUDD does nothing but slow the game down
Thanks for confirming that you have never played Sunshine for more than 10 minutes
>dude just hold R or something right? That's all you need to do Lmao Fludd adds nothing and makes the game too slow
Fucking Odysseyfags are actually retarded.
>All the long jump -> cap -> dive -> cap bounce -> cap -> dive tricks
But that's the only move.
>F.L.U.D.D. is more of a "oh shit I fucked up" tool
But that's exactly what cappy is. Just throw cappy if you make a mistake in platforming to negate all of Mario's momentum or movement then just dive to a safe location.
>ground pound jump
Literally 5 ways to reduce that from 3 steps to one. Padding.
Lol?
>long jump
>throw
>jump off hat
>throw
>dive
What the fuck are you doing user?
>FLUDD does not feel like an extension to Mario's moveset
(YOU)
Wow, look at that, the only use of fludd was to increase his dive speed, the only decent movement mechanic added in Sunshine. And what do you know, it was the only thing from Sunshine brought back.
The only reason fludd isn't the worst companion is because baby Luma is such a non-entity.
FLUDD had worst personality and also fuck hovering.
The Galaxy spin is gimped and boring. Cappy on the other hand has so many abilities it's a bit unnerving, several of which I doubt most people even use
>suspending him in place to create a platform (or fix Bowser's hat in place before putting it on, so he doesn't enter his jump cycle until you are already close enough to hit him)
>throw him in any fucking direction including straight upwards
>overpowered spin attack
Whoops
>long jump
>throw
>dive
>jump off hat
>throw
>dive
Missed a step.
Turbo Nozzle is just fun as fuck desu
It's a damn shame it wasn't actually used as much as the other nozzles
>make a puddle
>slide in a straight line to the actual platforming section where you don't use Fludd until the very end, which was unnecessary
Wow you sure showed us.
I WILL CHOOSE A PATH THAT'S CLEAR
I WILL CHOOSE FREE WILL
>throw cappy
>dive
Wow, you sure showed me.
Punch kick combo is a mid air adjustment.
this
There's something empowering about using the Turbo nozzle across water
But yeah, sucks that it's basically useless most of the time
I fucking hate all 3 of them.
the reason why I can barely play Galaxy and fucking despise both Sunshine and Odyssey.
gimmicks ruin Nintendo games.
If it wasn't for the super spin being mapped to motion controls I'd use it way more. Such an unfortunate decision.
idiot.
Except Cappy has more use aside from being a "I fucked up tool," whereas F.L.U.D.D. doesn't.
Unless you're talking about the Rocket / Turbo nozzles, which only expand on Mario's moveset very slightly in very specific scenarios. Even though Turbo is fun as fuck to use, especially in Delfino Plaza
I'm not really sure how I'm wrong. In terms of aerial movement, F.L.U.D.D. does nothing except help you out if you screwed up.
You can also activate it by just spinning before throwing your hat.
>Except Cappy has more use aside from being a "I fucked up tool," whereas F.L.U.D.D. doesn't.
You didn't play Sunshine if you actually think this.
>uses FLUDD literally once at the very beginning
>no skill involved, just tapped it once to make the dive move better
Going fast in Sunshine is a matter of how little you can use FLUDD, that's the opposite of a good platforming mechanic.
You can make Mario spin with the analog stick and throw Cappy to get the same effect. Still tedious, though.
Cappy is cute! CUTE! The gibberish voice is cute!
Think of any other use for Fludd, Cappy does it better
>diving while on the ground
You'd just roll, user.
>Hover Nozzle lets you move around a bit in the air and reposition yourself / gain height
>can jump spray shit in the air via spamming jump + shoulder button or spin jumping + shoulder button
>if you have the Rocket Nozzle, you can jump really high
Is there something I'm missing here? Is there something else F.L.U.D.D. can do in the air?
I've 100%'d Sunshine before, and I'm going to a bit miffed if I missed out on some super cool aerial trick with him.
So spinning then throwing does the spin throw, and doing a throw right after a ground pound does the low throw.
Is there a way to do the up throw without motion controls, too?
Fludd's design is automatically worse than Luma and Cappy because it's a constant, unwieldy addition to Mario's model at all times during gameplay regardless of whether or not it's in active use.
Gameplay wise, Fludd's too much of a full-on platforming crutch, whereas Luma's just a simple air correction device, which Cappy also happens to be while also introducing a much more versatile game mechanic than everything in Sunshine and the Galaxies combined.
Actually the gimmicks have pretty much changed the way the game is designed so it maintains the same difficulty. For example, in Sunshine, gaps are much wider to compensate, knowing that the player has access to the hover nozzle
You realize how boring Mario would get if it was identical? Every Mario game has had advanced movements. World has more movement options then 3 which has more then the first.
they can improve and evolve without adding some stupid gimmick behind every new mechanic.
Wold did it as you said it yourself. 64 did it.
There are actually people who really exist, in real life getting mad at the casualization of a MARIO game.
>muh momentum
Momentum is overrated
Cappy is also cancer with stupid, out of place rareware eyes and terrible voices
And now Odyssey did it
>FLUDD
-Annoying voice that constantly sounds like it's on the verge of dying
-Have to refuel it
-major part of a 5 minute unskippable cutscene
>Cappy
-Cute as fuck
-You can skip almost all his scenes except for when entering a new world, which are like 10 seconds long
-Fun as hell to use
Then you'd have to change the foundation all 3 games are made off of. You don't have a Sunshine without F.L.O.O.D.
This
Fuck you.
E Gadd is the fucking MAN
Every Mario except for Lost Levels is casual as fuck
Anyone getting mad at Mario being a casual game while praising older games for being not casual is a faggot
Cappy > Fluid > Luma
Luma just adds the spin and nothing else. Fluid casualizes platforming but you can do some tricks with it. But the best levels in Sunshine are the fluid less levels, proving the game would be better if they focused on a expanding Mario from 64. Cappy actually has some personality, but most importantly he's a core part of Mario's moveset and is a easy to learn, hard to master type offering new moves unlike the other Mario's.
When you say gimmick, what do you mean? I hope it's not just that you're just bothered by the way the mechanics are contextualized (a water gun, a hat).
Where is the mustache?
Baby Luma is the beat because it's the least obtrusive
Prove me wrong
Some people in this thread are mad as hell that Odyssey shits all over Sunshine.
Cappy is probably best for sequence breaking. Unless someone can mention some shit about FLUDD and luma that trumps Cappy.
