Monster Hunter Alternatives?

So does this get any better?

Played the early missions, and so far it's weightless and fast, so every weapon feels very similar and every AragamiMonster feels the same.

It doesn't get better. There are no alternative games that are good. Emulate the PSP games or buy a 3ds and play the things.

When you learn to modify bullets to break the game it becomes a blast.

God dammit someone needs to localize XX(Generations Ultimate or w/e they'd call it)

There's a translation patch for XX on modded 3ds. I don't think it does all the text yet but everything essential like quest descriptions and items are translated.

My desire is for the switch version, so I can have it on a proper big screen.

The one "alternative" that I like more than the actual MH games is Soul Sacrifice

But it's on a dead platform, so people haven't and won't play it

It has so much to offer than just being another MH clone

So is the "hunting" genre so niche there really are no proper competitors to MH?

I hear phantasy star is similar but not and it's also not for filthy gaijins, only in glorious nippon

Nothing comes close to correctly imitating monhuns combat

God Eater's the closest runner up, but it suffers from unbalanced and floaty combat.
Our only hope for a not shit alternative to MH is if they get their shit together and balance their game in God eater 3.

Personally I'm waiting for Citrus to get good. Probably going to the only way to play XX in the west.

There is a certain weight and feeling of deliberateness in monster hunter. All the other games fuck it up with shitty feeling of impact, bad monster AI and just generally unfun and over lengthy fights.

making your own stupid ass bullet mods is when the game gets stupid fun. shooting a lazer that does a fucking 360 and then no scopes the enemy with a volley of missiles from space all being shot from a machine gun. have fun being autistic.

This guy talks like Monster has any amount of combat depth. Every fight it's literally running around, healing, and give a few whacks in. Boring as fuck. They would make a big budget Dragon's Dogma game instead.

Toukiden has much better combat than Monster Hunter, only capcbros, casual fuckboys that only play what's popular, and fucking retards would disagree.
