Pharaoh is my favorite if only because of my interest in ancient Egypt.
My biggest gripe about them are the limited control you have over the walkers. And if you want a truly effective city, you basically have to copy-paste house blocks or resort to having small slums at your industries.
Same, I say this on every thread, these games are too much like a puzzle, and have an optimal solution.
On the second point, at least they removed that from Zeus onward. When I was a kid I actually played without knowing about that truck.
WHY THE FUCK IS THERE NO COMFY MULTIPLAYER CITY BUILDING SIM
JUST LET MY FRIEND BUILD A CITY IN THE SAME OVERWORLD AS ME, AND ALLOW US TO CONNECT THEM SOMEHOW
>Zeus
fuck yes, comfy as fuck, loved playing this when I was 16
They need to make a Zeus or Emperor or Pharaoh remake or whatever with graphics as good as this. They can put as much DLC crap in it as they want, as long as I can play and beat the campaign.
The cartoonish looking Caesar IV and Children of the Nile looked worse than their predecessors.
i can't narrow it down to just one there's too many good ones. as far as newer games im liking banished and skylines. i have a small glimmer of hopw for anno 1800 because it kinda looks like a return to form.
Grand Ages of Rome looked good but it was too complicated and had a shitty formula. Never had that comfy feeling except with the Impressions games.
Currently playing Stronghold HD. Not sure if it qualifies as a city builder, but the game and graphics are comfy enough for me to play it like one.
Simcity (2013) happens when you want multiplayer in a city building game
