THAT'S RIGHT JAY

Why do people like RedLetterMedia? Legitimate question, because they seem like pretty much every other shitty review channel online except maybe less pretentious and more ignorant.

>more ignorant.
how?
And it's because they're the most genuine out there. Though mike going easy on american ultra because max is their friend was disappointing.

polite sage for start an RLM thread on Sup Forums if you want to talk about them

How are they more ignorant? They're basically the only reviewers who have actually worked with filmmaking (even if it's just making commercials) and even have their own little studio they can do whatever the fuck they want in. That means they have more experience and understanding of the technical aspects of filmmaking as well as a greater interest in it which is pretty fucking useful for reviewing movies. They also seem to have pretty good ideas of what makes for good storytelling probably just from the sheer number of movies they must have watched by now. They have a better clue than any of the other youtube reviewers and the fact that they actually discuss their thoughts during their reviews makes them so much more useful than some bloke just monotonously going "I really liked this but I did not like this" for 5 minutes, that doesn't give me any idea at all of whether or not I'll enjoy the movie nor can I be sure if I can trust their opinion at all. All those guys are useless, RLM actually provides entertainment and useful information at the same time and that's why they blow everyone else out of the water.

Space Cop was pretty good.
Was pretty surprised there were torrents of it.

Having fun with your fanfiction?

>Space Cop was pretty good.
Fucking lol,the definitive proof of bandwagoners right here.

Their ideas for filmmaking are pretty bad if you’ve ever seen their actual films. The most filmmakers that they’ve worked with are like D List directors and they pretty obviously don’t know how to make anything without it dripping in irony and sarcasm. That’s not genuine, that’s just annoying.
Maybe it’s because the HITB episodes I’ve seen have them seem like they don’t care about what they’re talking about even for movies they like, but it just comes off as them wanting to care but not really giving a shit at all.

They're entertaining and have interesting discussions about movies. And no, just because they shat on your favorite Zack Snyder movie, it doesn't mean they're pretentious or ignorant.

How was it not good for what it was?

Must have been one hell of a game to go through all that

Snyder’s films are garbage, I don’t get why you’re trying to assume I’m some fanboy.

I didn't watch Space Cop if that's what you mean, didn't look good from the trailers I saw. But that doesn't change my opinion on them as reviewers. They are almost always spot on when they talk about what worked and what didn't with movies, it's only in some rare cases that I strongly disagree with them, such as Mike actually liking Jurassic World, but at least he was simultaneously admitting that he loves dumb schlock.

Mike's a simple man. He likes "movie-movies" that are easy to follow.

kinda funny to watch these guys rip apart Suburban Sasquatch when they have made comparable schlock (Gorilla Interrupted, Space Cop). Then again it seems kinda funny that they are embarrassed about their movies in general!

This is your average RLM viewer, which should answer why RLM is popular.

RLM are a collective of average guys who really like movies. They're at their best talk about bad and dumb movies from the lens of people who've watched a lot of them, and their worst when they try to discuss good or controversial films.

I enjoy their content because they're willing to watch awful movies and super cut the best parts with a laugh track. They're a less talented Mystery Science Theater that's still putting out content.

The difference is they are painfully aware they only make ironic schlock. Whereas SS's director literally thought he was making some masterpiece.

MST is pretty overrated, desu.

So is RLM, desu.

It wasn't back in the 90s and early 2000s when it was relevant

>watching the Suburban Sasquatch director talk about how he wanted to merge mysticism and a deeper "man violates nature" theme into his work

Not really. The only review I've ever been severely confused about was them being apologists for The Mist because
>much true black and white experience.

Friend simulator for 30 year old losers.

I like them despite not fitting that description.

That's an ad-hominem, and doesn't really work as an argument. They're nothing like MST3K, which was heavily scripted and never provided, or attempted to provide, film analysis. It was nothing but jokes, and it was great.
