>The original Super Mario Bros games each had unique aesthetics and music which made every installment refreshing to experience, aswell adding cool new gameplay mechanics that made playing them feel completely different too.
>Meanwhile each New Super Mario Bros game look exactly the same while each one has gameplay mechanics either used before in the older games that don't feel innovative at all or new ones that feel so small and pointless that it leaves no impressionable effect on changing Gameplay.
What the fuck happened Nintendo?
Christopher Perez
They've already said they want to make a more ambitious 2D Mario. Fuck you.
Tyler Baker
Lies.
Jack Jones
>listing luigi u, an expansion of mario u, as a separate entry to pad the list And to be honest i don't get the surprise over the fact that four games with the same title used the same art style, its l like asking why SMB2JP(TLL) looked identical to SMB1. I'm glad it's apparently over now, but the time for making a fuss is past.
Angel Campbell
>I can't complain about a shitty game practice because it happened in the past
Guess people gotta stop bitching about sonic 06 then.
Mason Cruz
>You will never live in the timeline with just New Super Mario Bros U and Luigi That game would be considered on par with 3 and World if it weren't for how stale the series has gotten.
Josiah Torres
...
Bentley Morris
>while each one has gameplay mechanics either used before in the older games They all have new mechanics and abilities not seen before in previous games user on top of new gameplay modes and content.
You're literally just complaining that they have the same styles.
James Hughes
They're not even bad games, it's just that they reuse the same artstyle and level gimmicks so they don't feel fresh. One new game per console isn't even that excessive desu.
Kevin Brooks
The left picture is talking about Odyssey dipshit.
Jayden Hernandez
>op is the 30th millionth retard who doesn't understand that NSMB series are sequels to NES SMB and not 2, 3, World, etc.
Josiah Martinez
I would love a more cartoony style that resembles the old Mario artwork
Evan Wilson
Exactly Yes it's the same style because it's the same series.
That's like being surprised that Harry Potter doesn't feature giant mech battles in a magic wizard book
Aaron Hernandez
>>The original Super Mario Bros games each had unique aesthetics and music What did he meant by this?
Camden Watson
>people actually defend the NSMB series
Why? Even the Wii U one which was suppose to be the best was bland as fuck
Sebastian Smith
>Make a game where a side focus is Mario collecting endless amounts of coins >No Wario anywhere to be seen It hurts
Christopher Rivera
idk what people mean by that shit, the DS and Wii versions are obviously the best
Adrian Wright
The DS version was the best because it actually was a new game.
Levi Hernandez
NSMB is great. It's not just BING BING WAHOO *1-UP*. It's BING BING WAHOO *1-UP* BAA BAAAAAAA.
Jayden Thompson
>sequels to SMB1 >new power ups like mini mushroom, ice flower, propeller >four players >platforming momentum and control is tight as fuck
These games are not generic platformer shovelware like the indie crap that fills up Steam.
Sebastian Cox
yeah I liked the new powerup additions, the sequels failed to introduce new fun powerups and NSMB had cool boss fights, which were all replaced by boring koopaling fights on endless repeat for the sequels the wii version was great for the 4 player and Yoshi. I didn't play the 3DS game but NSMBU was less fun albeit with more challenge
Juan Baker
Well that's nice and all but it doesn't change what's already been done.
Carson Thompson
Nintendo fanboys are the fucking worst.
Angel Rivera
And yet SMB3 looked completely different.
Cooper Perez
M A K E I T H A P P E N
Josiah Reyes
>Nabbit completely forgot he existed what was the deal with him wearing Jr.'s bandana anyway?
Thomas Martinez
You have no idea what you're shitposting about. Let me educate you.
Thomas Morgan
>stooping low to include a japan only game
Oh I'm laughing
Jacob Butler
they play fine enough it's just that the presentation is so bland that it's hard to care much about them
Cooper Clark
I fucking hate that purple shitwater swamp level theme the NSMB games introduced.
Ayden Clark
>that doesn't count! Oh I'm laughing
Christopher Cook
I just realized, I got New Luigi U bundled with my Mario Bros U game, but never played it. Should I go back and play it? Is it worth it?
Lucas Cooper
>what was the deal with him wearing Jr.'s bandana anyway Junior IS Nabbit It's just a disguise so he can run around and steal money so he can buy video games
Kevin Rivera
He nabbed it
Jackson Cox
Never played it, but I'm pretty sure the general consensus is its a better, harder version of U
Mason Davis
The NSLU expansion is fantastic so yes.
Samuel Foster
They fucked up with NSMB by putting it on both handheld AND console. I feel like the best case for the series would have been making Wii the first one and only doing them on home consoles after that
Dominic Taylor
I don't see how that's a problem.
Nicholas White
I know it's incredibly unlikely, but I'd love to see a new 2D Mario game with hand-drawn animation. Like Wario Land: Shake It, but you know, with a game series that can make enough money to cover the costs of such a thing.
Angel Davis
Big reason is burnout. NSMBU came out like 3 months after NSMB2, which is easily the weakest in the franchise. The console games seem like they have way more polish
Asher Evans
This delusion. I'm sure the user you're replying to is being ironic. 2, 3, and World are sequels to Super Mario Bros and NSMB is a sequel series to the original 4. Additionally the Koopalings appeared first in SMB3 and were added in to NSMB in Wii. So the NSMB games do build on stuff not in the original.
Camden Ortiz
>Fuck you Why are nintenbros so aggressive and spastic?
Asher Roberts
The only ones worth playing are the original and U. Look at your pic, NSMBU clearly improved at least in a aesthetic sense.
Also: >NSBU is 5 years old >The original is 11 years old fuck
Ayden Foster
It feels unlikely because its not really Nintendos style, but on the other hand, what art direction could they POSSIBLY give a new game to differentiate it from NSMB? I can't imagine them using 3d models in any capacity without it imediatelly looking like another New sequel.
If they really want to move past the most recent games, they are going to need to make it look completely different somehow
Liam Sanders
NSMB wii also came out about 4 years before those two. I doubt burnout is going to be a factor.
Xavier Richardson
NSMBU was one of the better mario games
Aaron Perry
2D Mario was never good. The series didn't really shine until Mario 64.
