>"Michael: So what makes a game a “Total War Saga”?"
>"Jack: With our big releases that cover entire eras, like Rome or Empire, we’ve been following them up with standalone games that focus on a single character’s life and the time around them; like Napoleon or Attila. But there are also these key, pivotal points in history which don’t necessarily revolve around a single character, and only lasted a few months or few decades at most. Such moments also tend to be constrained to a tight geographic area as well."
>"These moments are perfect fuel for Total War. They’re a powder keg, where anything can happen and history could have gone in any direction. Sagas are epic stories, and we felt that name described those moments well, and allows us to go into the kind of individual detail we love."
>"So, Total War Saga games will be the same mix of turn-based campaign strategy, real-time battle tactics and hundreds if not thousands of hours of gameplay as a regular Total War game, but focussed down on a distinct moment."
>"Sagas won’t be revolutionary new titles or introduce brand-new eras; they’ll follow-on from previous Total War games and inhabit the same time-period, or at the very least relate to it. But these are certainly Total War games."
>"We’ve got more games in production than we’ve ever had before, and historical games form the majority of our forthcoming releases. We thought that badging these “A Total War Saga” would help players understand that they are a spin-off and not the next major title."
Smaller games at full price with dlc bullshit This will be the "lootboxes" of Total War.

What the fuck is wrong with you people? How would that even work?

Lord of the rings total war

Game of Thrones is a boring as fuck setting without the political intrigue we already have Third Age
Thomas James
It just would
Xavier Walker
I will only buy it if it runs on the most recent engine, with full unit collusion, they use for Warhammer.
Liam Jenkins
Where's muh Tomb Kings?
Juan Torres
>#AlwaysBetterOnPS4
Easton Martinez
It probably will. I doubt they're going to re-write the engine already. Warhammer had a fucking GOLDEN engine though.
Leo Wilson
Expected release date for foundation update? Expected release date for first expac?
Ayden Anderson
This. If it's not on the PS4 it's not getting my money. That simple.
Blake Hill
I just want M2 recruitment system back and no unit regeneration.
Logan Smith
I am pretty sure they've just kept upgrading Warscape since empire which worked for all games to a certain extent except Rome and Attila, but since they're saying they're revisiting an older title and patching the base game at the same time I don't think it will be guaranteed. We'll see, but Warhammer engine really is golden, better than Medieval 2.
Andrew Scott
SHOGUN 3 FUCKING WHEN?
GAME CODE FOLDED OVER A MILLION TIMES

Henry Williams
M2 was shit.
Adrian Torres
Huh. I thought they had something really good going with fantasy stuff. Allows a greater unit variety which is one of the reasons why I think the Warhammer series has done so well
Jaxson Edwards
So why didn't they make Empire Divided a proper standalone like Napoleon or Attila? Such a weird decision to make it require Rome 2.
Anthony Morgan
I wish CA would just give the option to choose between both options before starting a campaign since I also prefer M2 recruitment system.
Andrew Cox
>I am pretty sure they've just kept upgrading Warscape since empire which worked for all games to a certain extent except Rome and Attila
nigga, did you really forget about empire? which is a shame because empire actually laid down a lot of foundations work that would be used in subsequent total wars. it just used a brand new engine that blatantly wasn't ready and couldn't handle melee engagements at all.
Jack Martin
I imagine it would be too much of a content commitment. This is basically a campaign pack just like Wraith of Sparta and such.
Asher Thomas
My guess is selling a game who's entire army rosters are already covered by Rome 2 and Attila would be a very hard sell.
Brody Davis
For all the DLC milking new Total Wars get with culture packs and blood DLC, I'm really glad campaign packs came out of it.
Mason Lewis
>July
But yeah, it's pretty clear Warhammer shook up the company in a big way.
Eli Powell
Rome2 DLC = 3rd century crisis Saga = Viking invasions of British isles New tentpole historical game = China 3 Kingdoms era
Cameron Hall
Yep, full features like fort battles are completely broken in Empire, but field battles could be cool and it was the newest title after Kingdoms on a new engine, so I cut them some slack. Empire also had some of the coolest campaign map mechanics and unnecessarily(for all other TW games) introduced naval combat. There was no excuse for Rome 2 though it was even more broken than Empire on release which was inexcusable after Shogun 2 being somewhat good.
One bug I remember was when you told many units to walk through a gate at some point they'd start forming mosh pits where they'd start to throw each other to the ground constantly until they died.
Julian Torres
>New tentpole historical game = China 3 Kingdoms era
I don't think they'll ever commit to this.
Cooper Roberts
I wonder if Rome 2 was a case of junior team fucking up because the experienced crew was already working on Warhammer? What's the timeline with Rome 2, Attila and Warhammer?
David Roberts
Fits the Warhammer theme of each faction having a "legendary" lord theme. 3 Kingdoms is filled with mythical generals and strong personalities.
Zachary Walker
HAO HAO
Jordan Jackson
I think it's more a case of questionable marketability. Shogun was samurai n shiiieet, Three Kingdoms is Ancient China. Maybe tap into a brand new Asian market, but I see limited western appeal. Certainly compared to whatever the fuck else they could be developing.
Julian Russell
Exactly. If it's not for PS4 I'm not interested.
David Phillips
>Certainly compared to whatever the fuck else they could be developing. Like what? Keep in mind the era 1. has not been done before in TW 2. has lots of famous generals
So what are your candidates?
William Bell
Because a lot of people bought Rome 2 and quickly stopped playing it forever since it was shit, therefore they didn't buy any DLC for it either. The goal is to make people come back to Rome 2, see it's not in as bad a state as they remember, and go buy DLC for it.
Connor Morgan
Shame they stopped releasing GOTYs or I would've already bought Rome 2 complete.
Brody Barnes
I recently played Rome 2 and it's still in a sorry state.
Samuel Anderson
Man, I really hope that CA is following this train of thought. The Koei strategy games have been shit for years and if anyone threw the Three Kingdoms crowd a bone they'd eat that shit up, myself included.
>tfw no uncle dong simulator

I bet my life on the fact that they won't touch anything Eastern European related since they would offend the muslims or anything Hitler related since they would offend the cucks. Also USA is out of the question since it would trigger the terrorists. Imagine a historical accurate "saga" about Hitler, Washington, Vlad the Impaler or Francisco Pizzaro. Fuck me, they don't have the guts. What will they do? The brave moorish conquest of southern Spain?
Chase Butler
>The brave moorish conquest of southern Spain? Charlemagne DLC for Atilla already has muslims factions and units, featuring the early reconquista of Spain.
