I think MS took a step back to look at the VR playing field and noticed it's just not taking off. They took a different, more practical approach to AR/VR. Just look at the PSVR for instance. It just hasn't caught on with the casual crowd.

It turned into a mixed reality headset you can try at best buy

what happened to microsoft tabletop computer

It became a corporate thing instead of a gamer thing. Used in jobs instead of games.

>introductory price 5000 dollars
No way this shit is gonna take off

Not for consumers right now.

Hololens is AR not VR.

Alright. I thought they were trying to get both going on one device. I prefer the AR stuff that I've seen. Just need to get the FOV increased.

Looks kind of cool t bh

Now this is how you game in public.

>some retarded Indian ripoffs a short level of a simplistic NES game
>they act like it's a big deal

Can we see your version of AR?

This beats playing games on a super small screen with sun glare.

BING BING WAHOO

It's not really for games. They do games for their tech demos, but industry is much more interested in using it to reduce the skill level of tasks. Like instead of needing to hire an electrician to sire wire a building, you get an ai or master electrician to look real quick at what the guy is doing, and he picks a list of videos/tutorials to play the guy for how to connect the wires.

The other cool demo the did for the media was having them install and wire a light socket.

>Like instead of needing to hire an electrician to sire wire a building, you get an ai or master electrician to look real quick at what the guy is doing, and he picks a list of videos/tutorials to play the guy for how to connect the wires

I can see this taking off just for practical reason on the job or at the house. Could be a game changer. I prefer this over the clunky and uninspired games that VR has been pushing.

I'd rather MS hold back and see what direction the industry takes. Sony jumped in feet first and I don't know how well it's working out for them. Some are saying it's Sony's Kinect.

>used voice on Windows 8/10 it's awesome
>get xbone w kinect
>aww yisss this will be great, yelling at my tv to watch whatever.
it's JUST Cortana. No windows speech recognition which was fucking awesome
Just be all 'okay Windows, start YouTube. Watch sv seeker.' Or if things are really fucked up 'show numbers' and that works perfectly.

Ffff I'm so mad. And kinect development is obviously dead. All they need to do is turn on this core windows feature in the Xbox and it would be a hundred times better.

couldn't you just use a camera for that?

It displays the video while you're doing it over what you're really seeing and shows you exactly what to do with your hands

What do you mean? They're still working on it. It's for devs only and big companies (like BMW or VW for example).

I tried one out like 2 weeks ago, it's pretty neat. Gesture Recognition sucks though.
