more like it's the game burial
Yooka is one of my most diliked things about this game
They technically set out to do what they wanted.
It's just N64 era Rareware collectathons aged really terribly.
Camera is absolutely horrendous, jerks constantly, turns away from how you've oriented it, and gets stuck. If they play tested quite literally any area in the game for more than 30 seconds they would have noticed this.
Other than that they did nothing wrong, game's fine.
>being gay
>thinking yooka is attractive in any way
i want to fuck laylee
>what did they do right?
profiting off numale nostalgia
>What did they do wrong
everything else
Hes got a rad shirt and a rad girl.
Where they tried to be like the old and throwback, they copied many bad aspects such as camera, transformations, and handled the quiz show horribly, and fucked up the hub world. The things they tried to be original at, such as the arcades, power ups, minecart challenges, and energy meter were all bad ideas to various degrees. And creativley? A lot of the music seems bland or uninspired with just nice sounding instruments. It's like they said "OK, snow level? Put bells in, some flutes, some horns." and half assed the melody. The side characters were all ass bar Trowzer. Fugly octo lady, annoying pig knights, ect. The worlds didn't even feel like an attempt to immerse the player was made outside of the level's graphical design (which I will give it credit for). And one thing I really will say time and time again is Yooka and Laylee were literally a shittier watered-down Banjo and Kazooie. No attempt at Originality. Just slap together a mild-mannered bigger partner with a snarky bitch who can fly.
There was just no soul in it. I didn’t mind the controls or the camera, it just seemed uninspired. The worlds were boring, the characters weren’t memorable. It just doesn’t compare to BK and BT which are two of the GOAT platformers
The only thing they did right was getting David Wise. Everything else was worse than what it was meant to be a spiritual successor to, something retards going "well you got what you wanted it's literally Banjo-Threeie" can't understand.
you have no soul because your world is boring and uninspired faggot
>what did they do wrong
They're libtards who took Jontron out of their game for completely unrelated political drama, made a 90s era 3D platformer in 2017 without realizing Banjo-era platforms were mostly nostalgia
the level size was to large compared to what was doable in each level. and giving you the ability to just fly whenever you want really trivialised it as a platformer
Shooting themselves in the foot for no reason less than a month before release probably didn't help.
The designs for the main characters kind of irked me. Also, the biggest thing imo is like, instead of having unique characters and things in their own worlds, with the occasional repeat, you had teh same boring characters slapped in different worlds.
Perhaps the same could be said of all religions.
They didn't drop the price under 10 bucks yet so I could try it.
why do furfags use this reaction image so much?
they brought back the outdated aspects of platforming with them.
virtue signaling
A bat and and iguana, "what's up with that" indeed. A bear and a bird dont make any more sense either but at least they look aestethically pleasing.
>aiming for those who don't play video games
Just why?
wait what
>Played through the game before they patched the camera and never noticed any issues
Rextro was just about the only shitty thing content wise.
i agree 100%
I think the level themes were just so unispired. The first world was alright but the rest was blah. They had the oppertunity to do something that wasn't possible on older hardware but instead they did the same shit
Also the option to expand a world with pagies is just weird. Why wouldn't you want the whole world from the beginning. The worlds were too big any ways. If they were half the size and more concise with double the amount of worlds the game would've been better.
>What did they do wrong.
Everything, but mostly Rextro's mini games and the Casino level.
It was a collectathon platformer from the people who popularized collectathon platformers, and also killed collectathon platformers.
They were outdone by one guy who made a Banjo-Kazooie game for fun
I thought the casino level was pretty impressive. I didn't know you could absolutely ruin such a lively setting for a video game level.
stop begging for views, you emo haired faggot
tell the bb team to get someone to make good music to make up for the slightly better than yl (which isn't saying much) level design
I actually think bat and iguana is a genius idea on paper
How they fucked it up is beyond me. Laylee's nose is just fucked up. They could've given her ear piercings or something else. Yooka is alright but missing something. A pair of shoes, a hawaian shirt, a necklace, he just needed one more thing to complete his design.
The way they implemented the characters into the game sucked too. Yooka stops dead in his tracks when you crouch and doesn't slide. The roll is too slippery and consumes power. The tongue is so thin and wimpy it has no power, it could've been a means of attack but isn't and the grapple is really glitchy. The color change power up is a good idea but the power ups all suck. The sonar aims really weird. The list goes on.
The levels were too big and they didn't give you any fun way to move around in them. The mine cart levels were big head aches. Dead Genre
They should have hired a better character designer and been more original. As it is, the game looks like a Chinese bootleg.
>fuck up two months before the release by involving their games with politics
>kicked off Jontron from the game because he voiced his opinions
>kept saying bullshit that nobody wants to hear because it's a vidya gaems
When you shill a game, you don't involve political shit. People who wants to buy vidyas doesn't give a shit about that. So your job is to make sure everyone jumps in on your train, not kick them away because they prefers someone to someone else
The gameplay was fun, aimlessly running and jumping around collecting shit to go to other worlds is my jam. There's plenty of shit they could have done better but i still had fun
