After years in my library i forced myself to finally play it and it is being pretty great. I´m in the night of the third day, Everything is going to shit really quicly, i have almost no food and game itself is a hobo simulator trying to find some bread. What are your thoughts on this game?

Great atmosphere, good music, retarded tryhard autist dialogues with idiotic levels of pretence and bad visuals (i remember playing it when it came out first, im ok with anything that looks better than fucking dwarf fortress, yet still found this game looking very very cheap).

>What are your thoughts on this game?

It's the best game ever made, and it's a game where the more you play it the more you love it.

>night of the third day
You've seen nothing yet.

>Love everything about Pathologic setting/atmosphere/story
>Can't really play it since i'm fucking terrible at survival games.
You know that genre that you just suck at? That's survival games for me. Anything with a hungry meter fucks me really hard. I unironically with i could read this as a book.

I unironically WISH i could read this as a book.*

you can cheese the game by stocking up on food on the first day

there are plenty of things i don´t know yet.

Do you really have to drink? there is no Thirst metter. If you get over tired or hungry it is an instant game over? and most important of all, the powders. They can be sold very high but even when im starving i KNOW they are important. I have two for now i´m not sure if its better to sold one or keep them both

I wish for Vladeworth to come back.

Who /steppe/ here?

Drink is just food, also dont drink water it raises tiredness you use water to trade drunks for healing items.
Best food is smoked meat and old bread since they give a good amount of food and dont cost to much on some days, though day 2 is brutal on prices since its the start of the outbreak.
The powders/Schmoders are useful for if you get infected but you can also use them to save people who can get infected, they are very precious items but if you really need to sell one to live then sadly you are going to have to do it.
If you want money hunt at night for killers and learn to hit and run or at least headshot.

>Do you really have to drink? there is no Thirst metter.
Thirst and hunger are considered the same thing. Bottles of water can be traded with the drifters.
I'm not going to spoil anything about the powders.

Also, you can access your letters by pressing L. IIRC they don't explain that any point in the game, but it's quite important.

You don't have to drink personally, as Thirst and Hunger are both considered part of the latter mechanic. Bottles of water are an important base for the scavenging/trading system of the game and the atmosphere.
This >Also, you can access your letters by pressing L. IIRC they don't explain that any point in the game, but it's quite important.
is very important advice.

my strategy at night is keep an eye to the killers and wait until they attack someone else. Then i run with my scapel and stab them on the back. I only use the revolver if im spotted or if there are more than one at once

If they spot you first they knife toss at you, technically as soon as you see one you can kill them.
Also the scalpel does more damage up close but its harder to use. The knife is easier to use but does more damage from behind.
If you want bullets then you are better getting small knick-knacks and trade them to kids since they have tons of ammo.

another question id be happy to be answered.

What happens if you fail a main quest? They told you on the first day that it will cost your life, but afterwards you dont get such warning again.

i´ve heard before the joke about kids being ammo dispensers. Turns out its not joke at all but for now i prefer getting pills or medicine from. Even i saw a girl trading powder but i had few nuts at the moment.

>Go for a midnight stroll to see the new play my man Mark is putting on at the Theatre
>Walk around a corner
>Instant-death thrown knife to the face
Buying a rifle as soon as you can realistically afford it is one of the best investments in the game, especially as the Bachelor.

That item helps near the last few days since you can get into some brutal fights against, well you will know the fight when you come up against it since you and they will die in 1 hit.
Originally I shit on Pathologic but I played it because of some diehard fans on Sup Forums and come to enjoy the game though the true ending made me feel like shit.

Wait what the fuck I always thought this game was one of those dumb walking sims.

Should I wait for the remake or should I get it now? I remember trying to play it somewhere near release date, but not getting very far since it was 2SMART4ME at the time.
I can also read Russian well enough to play in it.

Classic HD will be better than any remake ever, and playing Classic HD first is the only thing you should consider

Well...you have to walk. A lot. But the tag "surviving in a crazy maze death trap simulator" is more accurate

Remake is a whole new game woth a similar setting. Play Classic HD.

when started the game asked myself why being a doctor is easy mode and being a woman is hard mode. Not much time passed until i notice how they use to kill women for no reason and how everyone looks up to you for being a medic. A nice touch indeed.

Only failure on the first day ends the game. Failing any of the other daily quests will let you continue, but the Stagehands will have told you what happens - you know the Adherents/Bound you have to protect? Failing one of the daily quests will mean one of them pays the price in your stead. It doesn't automatically mean a bad ending, but it gives you the choice between pressing on when you've made things more difficult for yourself in the future or reloading/restarting to try and complete the daily quest properly. If you ever get to where you don't think you can finish it, keep playing at least until you see the consequences of your actions - that way you can make an informed decision as to whether or not to reload.
Yes, I know I'm being deliberately obtuse. Sorry, user.

Personally, I would suggest you keep playing, it's in keeping with the themes of the game, after all. But at the very least save often enough you don't have to worry about restarting the whole game if you get yourself into trouble - once at the start of each Day at least.
On trading - check the shops you pass as sometimes you can find desirable trading objects for sale.

>used to
It is a nice touch, though. There's a lot of little things like that which make this game so interesting.

I´m rather glad you are being obtuse. I´m aware of the risk of making a thread before completing the game and im relieved i got to know all this information without being spoiled. I would want to thank everyone on the thread so far for this.

You fell for the memes although there is a lot of walking.

>filename says day 6
>Game has 12 days

Tighten your butthole, it's a wild ride.

No worries, user, happy to help!
It's one of my favourite things about Pathologic/IPL threads, almost everyone is kind enough to consistently use spoiler tags and avoid unnecessarily spoiling new players like you who just want to ask a couple of questions, I can't think of many other threads where the same happens.

>that webm

>he thinks its a smooth ride to day 12

>reach that day with the jail situation
>mfw I thought things were under control

I never finished this game, what was the point of the strange big building that defied physics?

lel

Grad student's drunk art project.

Russian architects getting drunk on tviryn as usual.

He actually did come back a few months ago, but I haven't seen him since. But he's alive.

If you can, play it in russian. Original language version is always superior, no matter how good the translation.

yeah if you do nothing but break into houses on the first day you will be fucking loaded for the rest of the game, which i think is almost required because balancing your needs with your quests is nearly impossible lategame when all you're doing is wandering across the town looking for people.

that little dude is probably the scariest thing i've ever seen in a videogame. you see it like 100m away and even when you're right in its face you have no idea what you're looking at.

what even is it?

I never played this but whenever I see this dude it always reminds me of this painitng.

new version HD release has a PROPER english translation and looks much better.
