Persona 5 was a huge letdown

Persona 5 was a huge letdown.

>persona releases it's most popular and critically acclaimed game yet
>Sup Forums starts saying it isn't good after months of sucking it off
Hmmm

didn't it sell better than FFXV tho?

It doesnt take a genius to know that.
I didnt even follow the hype and i was still let down

No, persona 4 was a huge letdown.

5 is decent.

I was really sad the game did a lot of farting around for the first third and then expected me to take it seriously for the last two. The intro sets you up for something rad, then squanders it. It's the quintessential "style over substance" game.

It was great and better than 4, but I expected too much I think

Saying a game is a let down is not the same as saying the game was bad.

>Were going to steal the hearts of the villians!
>fuck adults
>fuck that adult
>pancakes
>fuck the government
Its like some edgy teenager's fantasy

What did you really expect after all of those delays? If anything, it makes 4 look a lot better by comparison.

The worst part is I went back to 4 and had much more fun compared to 5.
Im not saying this game is bad but it definetly isnt good

Haven't played persona series except for Q and wanted to start.

I heard fes > golden > 5

>Its like some edgy teenager's fantasy
Like all persona games?

It wasn't.
No need to thank me.
/thread

anyone who says that any other game is above 5 is either a contrarian or a nostalgiafag

That's just 3 and 5. Hell, Eternal Punishment happens because Tatsuya tries to break causality.

I wish

Teenagers are the target market dummy. If you're not underage b& the only way to enjoy is to embrace how silly it is.

>The poptepipic anime gets delayed

Ah you're motherfucker

So were you OP

Would any of you guys sign a petition I make that replaces P5 with Nier Automata or Yakuza 0 in the game awards

So, 5 > fes> golden?

correct

All right, I'll start with 5 first

That user is clearly talking out of his ass, user. P5 has style for days but very little substance compared to the other entries. In my opinion the ranking goes:

2 > 4 > 3 > 5 > 1 > Q

golden was more acclaimed

>You know that critically acclaimed game, almost universally everybody liked, or had some small issues with here or there?
>yea man damn they really dropped the ball worst game in the series 0/10 please reply

Trolls used to put in effort. I'm not saying it was perfect, but holy shit you went overboard. There is a fine line between trolling and shitting up the board, you are doing the latter.

Okay. Why did you think it was a letdown?

>implying anyone actually likes P2 and it isn't just a contrarian meme

kys

>What is the honeymoon effect?

Replaying a game later to see if it holds up is very important.

Is there a better ai than Burroughs?

>implying a sane person would want to play that
I dropped the game after slogging through my first playthrough. Maxing all the s links was already enough for me considering how much nothing happens in between the events

I feel you OP
>worst pacing of any persona 3-5 game dungeon, social, and story elements have never been more far apart
>character writing is more p4, every character is bubbly and immediately shoving "likable" qualities in your face with no flaws to speak of and every problem they have is the same repetitive "powers that be abusing me"
>gameplay is still not smt good and the narrative is one of the weaker personas

Ann!

>and every problem they have is the same repetitive "powers that be abusing me"

But that’s the theme of the game. That’s like saying P3 is annoying for constantly bringing up Death or P4 is for constantly bringing up the Truth. And a lof of them have qualities that are thr opposite of likable.

Why does this look like donganronpa

>Persona 5 was a huge letdown.

Only the final mission, holy shit how fucking bad could you have made it; they found a way

It really triggers me that someone made this and didn't bother editing the japanese text.

>That’s like saying P3 is annoying for constantly bringing up Death or P4 is for constantly bringing up the Truth.
P3 and P4 didn't constantly use their themes for the exact same social link every time. P5 uses it in the most lazy way possible
> And a lof of them have qualities that are thr opposite of likable.
Like what?

P5 is lighyears ahead of 4 and 3, ignore the nostalgiafags

Ryuji is a loud mouthed vulgar idiot. Ann can be really dense and airheaded at times. Yusuke can be too obsessive with art, etc. None of them are outright perfect or flawed characters. They all have things you can dislike and like about them.

>every character's development in P3 is linked to the loss of a loved one

>every character's development in P4 is linked to them facing their true self

nice nostalgia goggles you got there

All of the things you listed are exactly what I was talking about how they're insanely bubbly. They never play these traits for anything other than laughs or some other way to make you like them. These aren't even character flaws, just something people might find annoying.

You pretty much described their whole personality for the entire game.
Hell the fucking social links barely expand on their character and im using barely liberally here.

What exactly are you counting as character flaws then?

I'm saying P5 had a lot less ideas on how it related it's theme to it's characters, it's handles it way more repetitively than the other games.

Why does it have to be this way?

The game that is a commercial hit, and is a let down to older P fans, gets all these accolades.

It is truly a tragedy.

Should of seen this shit coming the second the game had a mascot character.

>should of

nostalgiafag? The fuck are you talking about Persona 3 and 4 aren't that old

Eh, the first two games technically had Trish.

wait for Persona 6
then everyone will suck P5 dick

That's really reaching compared to two talking animals that are main party members in a row, pray it ends at 5.

>playing the game
>get to last castle
>become a mouse
>drop it and never return

FUCK THAT MISSION FUCK IT SO HARD

im having fun 70 hours in

If 2 wasn't held back by archaic and clunky gameplay, we'd agree it would be the best persona right?

Yeah that’ll show em’! Don’t mess with Sup Forums! Right bros?

5's gameplay is literally the same as 4's but with some qol improvements. How does it have less substance than 4 or even 3?

It's not any less repetitive than P3 and P4 in that regard, you can boil down P3 to "person i like dies now i'm determined to live on and face Nyx" and P4 to "i accept that i have a shitty side"

I've enjoyed every smt game I've ever played and person 5 was easilly the best persona to date.

Whens the next devil survivor game anyway?

I disagree.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Not even close.

Burroughs is fucking dogshit. Thank God Dagda replaced her in Apocalypse.

It's pretty funny seeing P3 and 4 fans act like their fans of this obscure series and their upset that normalfags like it now when Persona has been this popular for a while now. Didn't think I'd see the day where P4fags start acting like P2fags.

>le kill your friends man ecks dee.
>above anything.

Doesn't take a lot to be above Burroughs.

Threadly reminder

5>Golden>FES>P3P>Vanilla 4

What's this fucking Golden>FES nonsense i keep seeing.
Golden having Marie alone should lower that shit below FES.

I think there just wasn't a whole lot we haven't already seen in the other games

I live by these words.

It was a Persona game. You got exactly the trash you asked for.

5>3>4>2>1

This. Lame Pegi 12 dating sim with a mediocre JRPG tacked onto it. Just like every other Purse Owner.

I had never even heard of Person a until 5, and had no expectations going in. I like it. If I had played 4G before hand though I would have been disappointed

The space station with the fucking endless animations, the casino was fine but it has bullshit like the "let's put a totally dark room, that sure is fun" and then the mice shit.

I fucking tried to like it but I ran out of patience.

Good god I hate this board and it's contrarianism. Everyone was sucking p5's dick and a few months later 0/10 worst game ever.
Drones.

The only real complaints are a maybe a couple useless social links, like the reporter's(though social links didn't actually give bonuses beyonf infusions before); that, and not being able to do shit at night until teacher is maxed.
Besides those, the game was just a flat out improvement over the previous ones.

So was your birth.

you're full of shit or you have a terrible memory.

>2 greater than anything

Persona 3 and 4 were very much time and place sorts of games. I played both in high school and they were absolutely amazing.

But I don't relate to these new characters because they're 16 and I'm 26. Every time Ryuji talks about girls or those evil adults I just think "shut up kid."

It won't ever happen because of fatweebs but a game with a cast of adults would be amazing. Trying to balance japanese work life, adult social life and problems and world ending demons would be cool.

You don't think P5 won't be a time and place game for the teenagers of this generation?

but he didnt cost a hundred million dollars to make
persona 5 was en extremely expensive pile of shit

Yes but I'm not speaking from the perspective of the teenagers of this generation.

POST MORE CHEN

It's a 100h+ game nigga.

In my case I stopped at 95H and couldn't finish it for months.

So I couldn't talk trash, it wouldn't feel right.

>It won't ever happen because of fatweebs but a game with a cast of adults would be amazing.

The main reason is not only the westerner weaboos but Japan's own otakus who won't buy games with adults; games with teenagers just sell better, everywhere.

Also, in Japan it's not just the nerds who prefer it that way, I heard they think the life's over after you finish highschool so it's kind of a sweet escape for them.
At least they made them make Catherine.

Not that guy, but the reason it's so focused on the high school era is because that's the era most people are fond of. It's used to trigger nostalgia.
Nobody but germans want to simulate a 9-5 (actually probably more if it is based in japan) job in their off-time.

I recently went back and played Catherine.

I played it at launch and didnt really like it.
Going back to it now that I'm 6 years older I've really grown to appreciate it.

I'm going through a lot of the pressures Vincent is experiencing and relate to him on so many levels. It's one of my favorite games now.

I just really want to see more of that sort of story in games.

>Sup Forums is one person
>Now that the game was hyped to hell and back by the fans after launch there's no way other less engaged people are completing the game and finding it lacking

Use your brain a little, will ya.

>muh Sup Forums is one person
Not a goddamn argument. It's always with games that manage to get critical acclaim. If you found the game lacking you'd sure as fuck not finish it, for one. It gets really boring after going through the billionth iteration of contrarianism.

>If you found the game lacking you'd sure as fuck not finish it
Because you say so.

>Waa you can't dislike the game if you haven't played it
>Waa you can't talk about the game if you played it

The few times I got to see arguments between "haters" and fans, the haters seemed more articulate and right than the fans too. Maybe you should reconsider the actual quality of your favorite game.
