Healing is extremely boring in WoW.

I don't understand, I always avoid it because it feels like doing an extra job with no reward, and one miscast and it's game over, also having to babysit retards outside of healing range and los etc then get blamed for not multitasking.

Also what games let you be the supportslut besides wow and FFXIV? preferably without a sub and not GW2 either.

i have never seen a support role ever working in a game. and i've tried plenty.
its one things that sound good on paper but is just not executable in practice.

the best support role i can come up with are pillars of eternity pallies and wow tbc hybrids, but you will tend to give them a specific holy trinity role anyway. a strict support role simply doesnt work

The best use of a support role I've found is Killing Floor. It's actually really fun to play as the medic. Battlerite also is pretty good for it.

The Warrior Priest in Warhammer Online was fun.. being on the front lines hammering shit to death while throwing out a few heals for your mates and Sigmar

I ideally love DPS that can heal or vice versa and it's sad the only spec that can do that in WoW is pretty awful.

I heal because I am lazy and it is the easiest way to contribute. I haven't actively learned a raid mechanic since BC but I am super autistic and am really good at staring mindlessly at health bars and keeping them from dying.

There's not such pressure as with tanking and dps.

Monks in GW trying to combat spikes was fun as hell.

The only joy I get out of it in WoW is being able to cockblock a burster out of an easy kill. Probably the most fun healer for me was resto, because of the sheer amount of utility you had.

phantasy star online. Force class can use a healing skill but they weren't primarily healers, they had lots of damage skills. Other classes can heal too but they aren't as potent as Force.

Nope and that is why dedicated healing is boring as fuck. Every healer in WoW is boring as fuck and healing in shit like XIV is fun because you can actually contribute well while not needing to heal.

Nope - they're overly simplified. My rotation is literally Some Shadow Damage Spell on CD, Penance on CD, Some Fire-Bolt of God Spell on CD and Smitespam. I still find pleasure in it however, especially when it takes three people to kill me.

I actually often play support-ish character if I play with a people I know, because if I played a proper character nobody else would get to have any fun, plus with a support I can hopefully fix their dumb shortcomings. If I'm playing with unknowns then fuck no, I'm never going to play a support unless I somehow know my team can get shit done without me being at the helm.

Because healing and supporting can be dressed up in a way that isn't gay.

Healing in WoW was really boring because all you did was play HP bar whack-a-mole, but I liked how you're expected to use damage skills as a healer in FFXIV. you can really tell whos a good healer when they stop damage from coming out by killing adds faster.

I don't heal because it's too stressful and the specs have changed since I did. I want to play Holy Pally but it's so different from BC, which was the last time I mained Holy. I did Mistweaver in WoD though and that was alright, but overall still stressful, and I try to live stress-free.

A common argument is that people just don't make the effort to socialize but what actually happens is that the game is often so trivialized that there's absolutely no gameplay reason that would ever require someone to communicate in anything but an absolute endgame raid farm. You want to party with someone for a quest, get ignored because it's all soloable. You talk in a dungeon, you're ignored and seen as kind of annoying because why do you need to say anything, everything is easy as fuck.

Rehgar is the funnest fucker on the planet. Doing high-flying wolf-based acrobatics while chain healing is great. Making most healers actually just damage/heal hybrids and putting a lot of the game's recovery options in self-sustain, fountains, and regen globes was the correct choice.

Communicating for gameplay purposes is not the same thing as being social.
The fact is that most people are inside playing these games because they -aren't- social in the first place. People say things like "oh, I wish we didn't have matchmaking because then people would have to talk and ask for people to party with" but you're basically asking the game to force people to be friends with you.

If the party wanted to talk to you, they would. And most of the time, people DO talk back to me when I try to be social. Emoting back and forth is pretty common as well. Frankly I think the situation in doesn't even happen that often.
