Breath of the Wild was amazing, but can we agree that the Goron City/Vah Rudania segment was the worst part of the game?
>the boring lava rock aesthetic over and over >the quality of music is lower than in the other areas >having to either get a bunch of fireproof potions or buy the ugly armor >that extremely tedious part where you have to walk with the goron and get past all the sentries - single worst part of the game IMO >vah rudania is kind of cool but not as stellar or memorable as the other divine beasts >the characters in this segment aren't as memorable as the others either
Isaac Thomas
I hated it at first but I grew to love it as I explored it more. I just wish the actual Goron city was larger. Only are I thought was shit was most of Hebra mountains. Aside from that one cool cave and one boss fight, there was nothing interesting there, not even a comfy snow village.
Luke Myers
>aren't as memorable
I'd argue the kid in your pic did more to link than that meme fish
Aaron Watson
>he didnt find the shieldboarding cabin
Nicholas Perry
Literally still better than the Rito section.
Colton Green
I did and one cabin doesn't make a village and that mini game wasn't interesting at all to justify how boring that whole fucking area was.
Daniel Fisher
I was pissed when I got knocked off the cliff at one point.
Mason Jackson
i thought that was the best divine beast in the game. the music in the bird is so stellar and its so epic to turn the bird's wings a certain direction and hear it cry out. i loved flying with the paraglider what felt like UP because the bird was tilted in a peculiar direction.
Brody Bell
Eh. I was more disappointed with Vah Medoh. The others were just more interesting to me. Doesn't help I did the Rito area last.
Michael Taylor
>not liking lava rock aesthetic Fag
Lincoln Baker
I did the gerudo first so basically the entite remainder of the game was a disappointment ;_;
Jonathan Turner
That would be the rito village
>reused nostalgia bait music >fewest quests >fewest NPCs
dungeon was OK though
Jonathan Taylor
Yes, it's absolute shit. Terrible music, Goron's new design and their voice is shit, the sidequests leading up to the dungeons were the most boring.
Isaiah Lee
Wasn't the Goron music Groose's theme remixed?
John Collins
similar instruments but I don't think you could call it a remix
Jayden Kelly
I did that dungeon first, so it was pretty fucking cool to watch the entire damn thing tilt to the side as I glided in front of it.
Replaying the game, you notice that its little entry battle scene is barebones as fuck, the dungeon itself is short and that Ganon's AI is retarded. Actually two of the pre-dungeon sequences feel unfinished, the only one that ramps up in difficulty is the zora bit where you ride on Sidon's back, and the goron bit has its own gimmick. The camel and rito are essentially "hit these four things while a projectile with virtually no chance of hitting you gives you five minutes warning before firing."
Ryan Carter
>reused nostalgia bait music Nothing wrong with that considering the game doesn't have much interesting music to begin with.
Joshua Wright
Rito is definitely the easiest if you have more than 1 ring of stamina. I did Rito and the camel thing last, zora first and goron second. The camel was definitely the most annoying one to take down because of the speed the person you are supposed to stick by is both faster than your slow speed yet slower than your fast speed. That was fucking frustrating but by that point I was so over geared the lightning strikes didn't do that much damage to me anyway.
Christopher Edwards
Definitely agree, I put vah rudania off for as long as I possibly could just to avoid that area
Hudson Perez
>the boring lava rock aesthetic over and over I thought it looked cool >the quality of music is lower than in the other areas Strongly disagree >having to either get a bunch of fireproof potions or buy the ugly armor Yeah, I wouldn't mind, but the armor IS fucking hideous >that extremely tedious part where you have to walk with the goron and get past all the sentries - single worst part of the game IMO I think you're overstating the tediousness a fair bit >vah rudania is kind of cool but not as stellar or memorable as the other divine beasts I disagree. It's second best, after Naboris. >the characters in this segment aren't as memorable as the others either Also strongly disagree here. The chief was quite memorable and Yunobo made more of an impression on me than Teba or Riju could have ever hoped to. Not Sidon though, but Sidon got the second most screentime/development/exposition of the 4 characters.
Aiden Howard
you just fall back when you get a ring around you bro
Alexander Sanders
> is the zora bit where you ride on Sidon's back
one of my favorite parts of the game. the music in that part was so beautiful. and the whole scene just had this feeling of, decay, but hope
Justin Harris
>but Sidon got the second most screentime/development/exposition of the 4 characters smiling at the camera isn't character development
Yunobo is the most developed one, if only because he gained confidence
William James
No, but he spends time showing us his character. Teba and Riju don't really do fuckall. Sidon and Yunobo go off on advantures with you and you get to feel more of a sense of who they are what they're about. Whether you're escorting Yunobo or being escorted by Sidon, it's an opportunity to either develop or expose their personality.
Easton Bennett
He didn't really show us his character - his personality is literally "smile at camera". Also Sidon didn't escort you, he just appeared at landmarks and smiled at the camera. He didn't really even connect with his sister or have any problems or flaws to work out with. He's essentially fujo bait.
Riju you actually feel for her - she's acting as chief yet feels like there's a heavy burden on her because she's a child, and everyone knows that. She wants to be treated as a leader without the looming feeling of being a child.
Teba is eh. Angry guy becomes not angry guy who respects you. At least he's better than Ravioli.
Thomas Morgan
is Zora typically the first one people go to? I just finished it as my first and I'm 30+ hours in
Gavin Harris
>". Also Sidon didn't escort you, he just appeared at landmarks and smiled at the camera. He was escorting you. That's what you call it when somebody follows somebody else along the way to a destination user. >his personality is literally "smile at camera" Nah, he's a bit dull but very well meaning. He's a heart of gold type. > his personality is literally "smile at camera" Yeah, tha's typically how one makes it clear that you're dealing with the heart of gold archetype. > She wants to be treated as a leader without the looming feeling of being a child. Yeah, she's got a good situation, but the reality is that she has very few lines of dialogue and they do nothing to explore her character or to develop her. >Teba is eh Teba is shit. He suffers quite hard from the same issue the entire Rito quest does. It's tool short and small. You don't get to know him at all and he's a horrible case of changing his opinion conveniently. First he wants nothing to do with you, and two seconds of EASY archery demonstrations later, he's willing to take you as comrade in arms.
Xavier Scott
Yes, since it's the one closest to Hateno village and has like 10 Zoras begging you to go there around the area.
Dominic Myers
I wish there were more towns in the game.
Kevin Reyes
that's not escorting, that's guiding. if he was escorting you he'd actually travel with you
and we never see that, the closest we get is scolding the old man
true we never got much of riju, but those small dialogue expressed a lot about her struggle and personality
here's hoping the champion quest fixes teba and expands riju
Levi Stewart
Only if we can agree that Zora’s domain is the best
Brody Rivera
Actually it's the total opposite. A guide would stay with you the whole time. But merely escorting? You don't actually have to be alongside somebody to do that. You could escort something or somebody in a fucking Helicopter for fuck sakes.
You're wrong here user and it's about something really fucking embarrassing.
Henry Jackson
I would have instead wished for an ancient Shiekah bullshit version of an MP3 player function in the Slate. At least then I could run around playing my favorite music from previous Zelda games with the excuse that it was composed by a musician from ancient Hyrule.
Seriously, this game needed more music.
Adam Allen
>and we never see that Except his absolute optimism and trust in you from the moment you meet him. And of course he's dull, he doesn't even notice that you'r Hylian right away. He actually ASKS you if you're Hylian.
Liam Rodriguez

Owen Thomas
Its supposed to be a sort of post apocalypse.
Aiden Jones
...
Luke Price
>v: accompany (someone or something) somewhere, especially for protection or security, or as a mark of rank.
Blake Jenkins
Juicy nerd butt!
Thomas Russell
Is there anything to see around death mountain or is it all lava and rock? It's the one area I can't be assed to explore because of how boring it is.
Oliver Kelly
...
Ryder Adams
Best girl in the entire series right here.
Michael Johnson
You know for a post apocalypse, Hyrule actually seems pretty pleasant.
Charles Stewart
What's weird is that in the quest menu, goron city is actually the one it has listed first. i know that doesn't mean much, but you have to think they must have put some thought into the order of how they were listed. GOing there first would be pretty hardcore for most new players
Noah Gomez
...
Carter Phillips
>love the Guardians, they're now my favorite Zelda enemy >but there are almost no towns to explore in BotW because of them lore-wise
SUFFERING
Lincoln Cook
I did Naboris first, and it really depends on how you approach it, iirc the game recommends you rent a sand seal in Gerudo town since they handle easier than wild ones, now while that is technically true, they are also noticeably faster than them and renting a seal turns the chase into literally >escort moves faster than your walk speed and slower than your run speed. It can be also one of the easiest to topple, even more so than Medoh with your matrix aiming, since you've already done the Yiga fortress and likely have a Duplex Bow with you, which one-shots all four legs
Bentley Hill
sauce me up nigga
James Bennett
Goron City is easily the best place the farm rupees. A couple well placed taluses and ore everywhere
Luis Carter
Well you can rebuilt Tarrytown.
Adrian Nguyen
i hate the post-apocalpyse theme so much. the entire game you are reminded of how cool things USED to be. it's like wow...wish I could play that game instead
I feel like way too many games do this, they take place after everything has gone to shit and suggests a time before that was a lot more exciting
Jackson Sanchez
So I did the goron part, havent gone to the desert yet. does the flame resistant armor protect against heat, as well? or are flame/heat two different stats in this game? if i go in full flame resistant armor do i need to worry about the heat at all
Gabriel Foster
...
Justin Bell
>help build this fucking town from scratch >Not allowed to have a nice house as a reward in the comfiest region of Hyrule
Fuck this quest.
Colton Rodriguez
The music is terrible but Vah Rudania was really good imo. Also you left out the kickass minecarts that you stasis around in, you left out the fun canon segment with the Lizalfo outposts, and you ignored that there's plenty of worldbuilding through all the mining going on not just in Goron City but even the other mines. It feels very cohesive, like they had to spread far and wide to get ore since over time they mined out all the stuff that was already close to home. Also Gut-Check Rock and other Goron related sidequests are great.
Only the Yunobo escort stuff, and his character in general, really dipped in quality compared to the rest of the game's main quest. Vah Medo stuff was rushed as hell but it was still good.
Michael Mitchell
flame is volcano only, heat is different
Jeremiah Walker
Flame and heat resistance are separate.
Caleb Wood
isnt pondo's lodge the best place to farm rupees? just get a strike for 300 rupees and repeat
Jace Taylor
>most fleshed-out characters >rewarded heavily for doing every sidequest >most AI reactions [rain, bombs, pulling your sword out, being naked, burning plants and more] >Paya's journal constantly updates as you progress
The single bad thing about Kakariko in BOTW is that the grand revalation of the illusive and mysterious Shiekah's we'd been curious about for 20 years...is that they're just Japanese.
Jaxon Mitchell
Nah, biggest disappointment was Lost Woods. Barely anything in there, should've had Gohma tearing shit up in there or something.
Connor Evans
>No secret ancient sheikah factory tucked away within the farthest reaches of hyrule where you can discover all the blueprints for the divine beasts and encounter prototype guardians
I wish I had saved a screencap of that one post
Parker Howard
That actually is pretty disappointing. What I love in Morrowind is getting those books of dwemer schematics
Dominic Hill
>The single bad thing about Kakariko in BOTW is that the grand revalation of the illusive and mysterious Shiekah's we'd been curious about for 20 years...is that they're just Japanese.
I found the build up to the Yiga clan to be just as bad desu.
>Clan of vicious highly trained assassins who disguise themselves as travelers to catch their victims off-guard >Broke off from the sheikah tribe and swore themselves to Ganon as a result of the hylians fearing their spooky technology and basically exiling them >Confirmed for murdering people out of revenge for leaving their clan >Their leader is a fat clumsy retard who ends up accidentally killing himself
Jordan James
I actually really liked Lost Woods, and honestly every zone could have used a mini-boss of its own >great music >one of the best memories >Koroks and Deku Tree are both good >comparatively decent shrine quests That framerate tho
Nathaniel Price
DLC info fucking when
Leo Stewart
December 2017 by this point. I'm expecting one last delay to something like January 2018.
