Why is chaos there? I thought he calmed down at the end of adventure?

and Metal Sonic after rivals 2
and Shadow after heroes
they're all illusions made by the masked jackal. none of those are the original characters. there's even a scene where shadow versus shadow

Oh. Is it still using the shitty boost formula.

yes, but the worst part is that the boost sections are the only sufferable moments of the game.

did chaos even fucking show up anywhere outside of the initial cutscene he was in
fucking hell sonic team

He shows up to try and grab Tails but Classic Sonic finishes him in one hit

Look at Chaos' pose.

"Hey guys remember me"

Chaos was NEVER evil. How could SEGA forget this?

I like OC and tag team more than boost Sonic. DRILL!

I really wish the OC's bells and whistles could have just been worked into other characters

Give Blaze a move where she blasts fire
Give Espio a grappling hook
Give all the flying characters higher double jumps
etc

Why was Metal Sonic even an illusion, he's the one guy there that makes sense being in Eggman's army.

Was that one guy who beat it in under 3 hours and got a Steam refund justified?

I think so; if you didn't like something and getting a full refund is still an option, why wouldn't you?

They straight up lied with this. One of my biggest pet peeves.

None of them are real, let alone important.
Eggman didn't recruit dick.
You only fight two of them
It's never even explained why Infinite copied these 4 characters.

>mfw I could have played as many side charachters with abilities that made sense for them in a setting were it made sense to have them all participate since its an all out war, instead of a literal who with all of the powers that came from creatures from another game that suddenly are weapons.
user, stop, you are making way too much sense, please dont shame Team Sonic more.
It may not have been a better game, but at least it would have a justification in one of its terrible aspects.

Metal Sonic is a good guy now and no longer in Eggman's army.
Free Riders isn't canon.

Where can i trade games anons? It's legal here?

they thought more people would want to fight zavok than chaos

>You dont fight Shadow
>You dont fight Chaos
>You dont actually fight Zavok, its just a bunch of robots he commands, he is just sitting on a big bee robot, it wouldnt have been different if Eggman was in his place.
>Metal Sonic just flies in the background while you evade obstacles and catch up to him, despite being so nothing this fight, or maybe because it was so nothing, it gets rehashed into the Infinite boss fight and the final boss fight, erasing any uniqueness anyone may have felt.
Can you get any more mediocre than this, Sonic Team?

No he's never been good, and the question about Metal Sonic's illusion is a legitimate one, given that Sonic asks it himself.

Man, nothing about those illusions makes any damn sense. Infinite can summon as many copies of them as he wants, but never thought to summon more of Sonic's strongest enemies (Biolizard or Chaos in a stronger form)? The illusions have no "heart or soul," and yet Zavok banters with Sonic as if he's the real deal?

The Ruby makes whatever you want a reality, so really, why spend time rebuilding him anyway?

What the hell turned him good? I haven't played a sonic game since Adventure 2.

Uncool Sonic.

he was allied with Shadow in Rivals 2, and that's the last canon game he made an appearance in.

Let's face it, the refund system is designed for 1) when you try something and it clearly doesn't work or you clearly don't like it, or 2) when a game is just a shitty cash grab that's so short you can't justify paying for it. We would criticize a game taking 5 or 10 minutes to beat, even if it was only 5 bucks, so why can't we extrapolate that and say that a game taking only 120 minutes to beat is not worth 60 bucks?

Yeah, but that was just a situation where Eggman needed to team up with Shadow to defeat Eggman Nega. Metal Sonic was following Eggman's orders the entire time.

Yeah, me to.
> Hover = Tails
> Drill = Knuckles
> Void = Shadow
> Burst = Blaze
> Asteroid = Omega
> Cube = Amy, except it should be fixed to not be completely useless
> Lightning = Metal Sonic

>there's an actual plot to sonic
>there's people that know the plot

not only that there are multiple different continuities.

He's not good. He fights against eggman nega on eggmsn's orders. Beats a greater threat, but still on the villain side.

Forces only costs $40, but is 2 hours long.

I've seen people say you wouldn't watch a movie, decide you dislike it, and go yell at the ticket desk for a refund.

That's not really a fair comparison though, because a ~2 hour movie is only $10.

Every game's plot is self-contained; the only time I recall something from a previous game carrying over to a new one is Shadow dying in Adventure 2, turning out to not be dead in Heroes, then questing to remember his past in Shadow the Hedgehog.

So he is still alive and kicking? and they just forgot about him actually existing in Forces?

They're all fakers made by the phantom Ruby

Sonic Adventure 2 also references the time Tails was congratulated for saving Station Square in Sonic Adventure 1.

Not to mention Sonic Generations that basically tied every mainline Sonic game together, including Sonic '06, even though it should've been erased from the timeline thanks to the ending.

He peaked at being a sentient T-1000 in Heroes.

Also that one movie with him in it was awesome.

Shadow was a thing before Shadow the Hedgehog?

FRUCKING DERETE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not only that but Generations went out of its way to address Secret Rings and Colors.

Shadow's debut was Sonic Adventure 2. He was in at least 3 games prior to his own.

It did? I never played it.

Forces retconed that "Classic" is an alternate timeline instead of Modern's past, so I guess that means Time Eater could influence multiple timelines.

Yep, Adventure 2 was his debut.

Honestly, while everyone writes him off as LE EDGY XD nowadays, his personal plotline was probably the best writing to come out of Modern Sonic to date. (which isn't saying much but still.)

Yep. Add it to the list of things sonic team fucked up in forces

How does he feel about his shit game being btfo by Mania?

Most 2D Sonic games just involve Robotnik wanting to build an amusement park/casino and you fucking that up. It's a real shame honestly.

>They were all holograms
>You didn't even fight Shadow or Chaos while barely fighting Zavok and more just fighting his bee mech
Sonic Forces is a game of lots of tiny disappointments combining into a big one.

I'm pretty sure Robotnik wanting to build an amusement park was a 3D Sonic thing.

It's less theme parks and more just giant mechanical cities. Unleashed, Advanced 3 and Colors had the theme park angle.

The fact is that Robotnik wants the progression of society while you just want to live in your straw huts eating chili dogs and running real good. Why is Robotnik the bad guy?

Because he takes woodland creatures and stuffs them into robots as a battery source?

>"He peaked in Heroes"
>edgy redesign
>digivolves into a dragon
>speaks in cliche evil one liners

His best appearances was SA2s multiplayer, even if it's a bonus mode. He actually appeared threatening

I think it really started in Knuckles Chaotix.

Sonic CD and Sonic 2 generally show a Robotnik who pretty much wants to turn the whole world into a fucking nightmare garbage dump.

...

>that fucking burn
holy shit are you playing as comic sonic in this game

>not CD
fuck off

missing a few villains there bub
illusion, Chaos does nothing in the game and gets taken out in a cutscene, same with fake Shadow
Forces was made in a year and Sonic Team doesn't give a fuck

Yes, but not that one. The spastic autismal american one.

robotnik pls go

I liked Black Doom

not just batteries

If Adventure was any indication, his system also uses their brains as part of the badnik's CPU (Gamma had flashbacks of being a Flicky

In the OVA he called his empire he wanted to create Eggman Land, which sounds pretty theme park-y

The OVA isn't canon.

Yeah, but it shows that the theme park angle predated Adventure

Which would work if it was actually canon.

>Forces only costs $40, but is 2 hours long.
It takes way longer than 2 hours to beat every mission and get all the red rings, number rings, and moon rings. That said, if someone beat the main story in two hours and decided that they disliked the game too much to bother with all that, then I guess that's more or less the same as leaving halfway through a movie and asking for a refund would seem reasonable to me.

The collectibles and missions are really just padding and filler to get you to replay the same damn missions a hundred times.
And the bonus levels you unlock by doing them are pretty shit as well. They're all only about 30 seconds long and are just cubes and shit copy pasted all over

>They're all only about 30 seconds long and are just cubes and shit copy pasted all over
What's the difference?

Sonic actually has a pretty good Rogue's Gallery, such a waste that most of them only showed up once, I'd especially like to see Mecha Sonic again.

Also, since Boom was a disaster fit to dethrone '06, they should just bring Lyric and/or Sticks to the Modern universe.

Speaking of, I think I would have preferred Boom Sonic over Avatar like they originally planned, he would have had some pretty good dialogue.
>Amy initially finds him wandering confused in the city, leading to further confusion from both sides
>Shock at scrawny Modern Knuckles
>Mocking fat Modern Eggman
>etc.

Difference between what?

The other levels.

Red rings and timed missions do force you to explore the whole stage and find different routes. I think they're fine. Not sure what the point of number rings and moon rings is. And SOS missions and the honor missions are just a grind.

The main levels are bad but the bonus levels are on a whole 'nother level of basic and uninspired

I know you can't top Egg Perfection but it is sort of sad that so many of non-eggman foes were either in aspinoff only (Battle Kuku. Merlina), allied with Eggman anyway (Chaos, Zavok) or not really worthy of ever coming back (black shit, and Mephiles).

At the very least they need to utilize Eggman Nega more.

What's the point of using Eggman Nega more? He's just Eggman with a different color palette, which is a complete waste considering the name.

Cause he's scarier, he's darker, more... veil

They could've replaced Eggman with him to have an in-game reason for the Japanese voice actor change. They already have Silver in Forces with no explanation

Why keep Shadow? Why keep Metal? Why Blaze? (Okay that one is pushing it)

I just like alternate versions of characters.

>Who's the leader of the resistance?
>Knuckles
>Boom Sonic starts laughing like a madman
>They meet
>Knuckles is a manlet in this universe
>More banter

Goddammit, we can never have good things.

They're all fakers

It honestly would've been super funny if Boom Sonic (who was also written by the season 2 showrunner) replaced the Avatar. So many jokes.

That's great and all, but the only thing you get is more clothes for your OC and you don't even get anything for 100%ing the game last time I checked. Perhaps they'll make it DLC, but the main point you need to remember here is that the average player is absolutely not going to go through all the stages again just to explore the different """"routes""""" and collect some shit that barely impacts the overall game. So yes, 2 hours, MAYBE 3, is going to be the average play time. And for 40 bucks that's ridiculous.

>b-b-but Generations

It wasn't great in Generations either, but at least there was SOME stuff you could do after beating the game like unlocking new skills, Super Sonic that wasn't fucking on disc DLC, new music, character trophies, and you actually felt like speedrunning because it was actually decently designed for a boost game. Forces simply doesn't have as much to offer, even if it likes to pretend it does. Again, they might patch in shit with DLC but by this point, will it really matter?
