Not if they lose the right to the brand.

I don't think I've ever been more ashamed of playing games. People are so fucking ass devastated that they actually want Bid Daddy Government to prohibit the sale of games, trading card games, kinder eggs, etc.

How do you fucking get so low? Just don't buy that shit in the first place if you're so against it. Game's fucking boring as fuck microtransactions or not. Is this how democrats live day to day?

Some people just don’t want absurd grinds in their games or micro transactions to unlock shit when you used to be able to play a game to unlock crap. Like F-Zero GX beat that shit on Very hard to unlock the extra ships. Beat Perfect Darks challenge mode to get weapons in multiplayer etc. I’m starting to get sick of absurd grinds and prng loot bs in my games.

I know you clapistanis don't like anyone to tread on muh freedoms but lootboxes in video games are fucked up, you might as well let kids on slot machines.

I'm a gun owning republican in Texas, and you're a fucking idiot.

The game is fucking boring exactly because of the microtransactions, they design it so the grind is tedious enough to encourage you to pay to win but not too tedious, it's the purpose-made "average game".

Thinking the same thing. There are tons of other games with a lot of microtransactions but all of a sudden it matters not because it's EA.

Literally this. What do you expect from this shithole Reddit colony though?

Who fucking cares

I'm genuinely confused if people on this board actually buy some $120 EA fucking shit like Battlefront

This. i hate microtransactions but if the feds start regulating vidya they're gonna go after a bunch of other shit in it too and indie games will be fucked

We got extremely lucky in the 90's when we got a private entity like the ESRB to rate games because the proposed federal rating agencies would have been way more restrictive.

>The game is fucking boring exactly because of the microtransactions,

this

you will see almost no progression of your character while you put in the hours. Meanwhile, you'll be put into matches with retards who are further ahead than you because they buy shit, leaving you woefully underpowered as cannonfodder. The only option is then to leave it or buy some progression.

Or you need to be a sado-machocist where EA is the dom and you are the sub.

>da gubmit is ebil

>That said, they understand that they have a clusterfuck on their hands, so since they are not interested in fixing it, they are going to use a technique referred to as "making the outrage outdated." This was very clearly what they did with the beta. The beta had a great deal of backlash and instead of fixing anything, they "made changes." The effect of these changes were negligible but it didn't matter because all the articles written about the flaws of the beta and the complaints by users became outdated and replaced by articles and comments about how they were making "changes." This allows them to control the narrative of their product without actually losing any money or making significant changes. The fact that the changes didn't help and potentially made the game worse didn't matter.

This dumb motherfuckers don't know every regulation is always in favor of big monopolies even if it looks like it hurt them. If you want to release a game you have to pay thousands to the ESRB jack-offs, limiting competition.

If some sort of stupid law passed that regulated micro transactions every online game studio will have to pay thousands to get reviewed. But it's okay because le indie games suck right.

>feds start regulating vidya

Isn't gambling illegal in freedom land except for 2 cities?

a lot of people do because this shit is akin to a slipperly slope, remember when dlc wasn't like because people had to spend more money on games after they came out, and then the same happened with day 1 dlc

But the biggest fucking clue as to why so many people dont like this you fucking mong is because it is pay to win, literally, you buy the game and all you get is the game with single player and multiplayer and that aracde mode
spend 120 bucks or something, you still get the same shit but with some "FREE" loot boxes

and thats not counting on the fact that day ONE people could spend 50 dollars on loot boxes and be more powerful and ahead of the curve making them shit all over everyone else

not to mention they put the core of the progression behind loot boxes, which is fucking dumb

It is when it comes to regulations and companies. You are aware that the US of A elected a cable mogul to head the FCC with the only intent of gutting Net Neutrality right? Is that not evil? They aren't even willing to discuss the issue, straight to killing it. You want those fucks telling what your shitty games can do or not?

yup, they will make their money with the first 2-3 weeks sales, which is what always happens and then just put microtransactions up again.

right now they need to recover the money they used to make the game so they need to sell., NOW is the moment when people should not buy the game, now is the moment they can really hurt, make a statement at EA.

Friendly reminder that it's thanks to nanny state EU that you got Steam refunds americlaps.

Are you gambling when you go to walmart and buy YuGiOh cards?

>this is unironically what he believes

>I'm genuinely confused if people on this board actually buy some $120 EA fucking shit like Battlefront

Considering how well the first one sold it's it's almost certain that there's a number of people here who bought it and buy lootboxes.

I'm convinced some people are such sheeple that they'll bandwagon a "boycott" and complain how bad these games are. But when it releases buy it anyway because it's popular.

Most of Sup Forums is commie libtards.
What did you expect?

then don't buy games that have absurd grinds

As someone who hasn't followed this at all, what was in the lootboxes that was so gamebreaking? Was this pointed out while the game was in Beta?

It's just a modified Trojan Horse play. Pretty low level strategy but people will fall for it.

That's literally exactly what they do.

It's because nobody plays those other shitgames with microtransactions, but a lot of people actually love the starwars franchise, but its ruined because of the casinoboxes

no be cause you get a tangible item you can sell on if you wish

>As someone who hasn't followed this at all, what was in the lootboxes that was so gamebreaking?

Statboosts Star Cards and the way you level up to is through lootboxes. All progression is through lootboxes.

Games without microtransactions are made to this day still, be a responsible adult and support those financially. Another great way to stop kids from playing pseudo gambling parlors with letting the government into our lives is to be a responsible parent and control what content your child consumes as well as what money they get access to. Holy shit, is it really that hard? Parent your fucking kids.

>What? But that's the state's job!

fbpb

Star Wars is a massive franchise. There so much fucking money to be made. To lose that contract... that would be shitty. For thousands of people.

The videogame industry is as bad as the auto industry. Bloated companies keep trying to rip off consumers, while pointing fingers at development costs (unions/cost to develop games), yet all signs point to less service over time. Except unlike the auto industry, foreign competitors are also offering less for more. There is no alternative for paying customers.

When capitalism becomes this fucking shady and one-sided, people either turn to the government or bootleggers. If piracy skyrockets, then the government will absolutely step in, but by that point, it may be too late.

Wow I actually have to be a parent!? Fucking racist sexist right wingers!

They contained Star Cards, which are ability enhancers/replacements that come in multiple levels and if you can purchase the lootboxes with mom's credit card then you can enter matches with a significant edge assuming the skill level is the same. From the beta they scaled it back a bit that the top level star cards can only be upgraded and upgrading is tied to game time. But you can still get the penultimate level cards and people who get lower leveled ones can't upgrade it until they play enough so there's still a power gap made.

imagine being this brainwashed
>muh gubbamin
>muh commie
>muh freedumbs

>The government is benevolent we can trust them!
>They never overstep !

Imagine being this fucking retarded

Was there no matchmaker to designate people with higher cards and put them into a different pool or could someone who only spent money for the baseline game be put in a lobby with someone who dropped some serious dosh?

yes, Angry Joe made a video about it like a month ago

Lets take your logic and use it in the American history.

>woha, america is under the control of the english
>"hey, you can just leave if you dont like monarchy. you dont have to "buy (into) it" herp derp"
>this is literally your argument

Instead we choose not to be fuccbois like you and now we the US of A.

>there is no alternative for customers
yea aside from the hundreds of games released this year that don't use lootboxes

Namefag, look at the spot we are currently in. A $69.99 game is oozing with micro-transactions. Yes, something needs to be done yesterday to stop this shit.

>They put the features back in unchanged after the return period is over
I'll be laughing from the sidelines.

Or support untainted producers of content, who still exist today. Why are people talking about this like as though EA is the sole producer of game's content? Buy alternatives, they still exist. THE MARKET STILL EXISTS.

And if hypothetically every game producer ever really was tainted and there were not alternatives? Then stop buying new games altogether. Yes, that's right, stop playing new games. Games are enjoyable but they are NOT NEEDED. This false compulsion is what leads to companies making these greedy swipes. Hollywood has demonstrated this is possible, people are just doing without their movies altogether more and more each year.

Fuck off burger

That isn't even a remotely accurate comparison you braindead nigger

>That image

Absolutely has to be bait. Comparing government tyranny and oppression via force to a company making a product you don't like.

Yes. Don't fucking buy the game moron. All of you Reddit tykes love to get on your little boards and sling out your downvotes to feel good about fighting the man, guess what genius? Doesn't mean shit when you retards go out and buy the fucking game and support these morons

I haven't bought EA trash in years, it isn't difficult. Stop being brainwashed by the social justice wars tag and think.

No. There are currently only two states where gambling is still illegal. You cant throw a rock in 'murica without it hitting a casino.

>Was there no matchmaker to designate people with higher cards and put them into a different pool or could someone who only spent money for the baseline game be put in a lobby with someone who dropped some serious dosh?

Nope, it's very clear EA want non-spenders to be cannon fodder for Whales. To the point they put a daily cap on the ability to earn credits when not matching with other players.

The whole game was designed to encourage and reward spending real money.

Not for Star Wars fans. The first game will obviously not last as long as EA is trying to make money, so that only leaves the new game. EA knows this and is trying to exploit the existing fanbase, which is where a lot of the outrage is coming from.

No alternative AAA FPS/TPS Star Wars multiplayer shooter game with incredible graphics you idiot

They pretty much said they're going to.
The only hope EAfags have left is if the microtransaction stuff they add back in is just for cosmetics.
Though honestly anyone who still buys this shit after this debacle will likely gobble down whatever EA shits down their throat in the future, whether it be cosmetics or p2w shit.

hey man i really feel sorry for you. i dont know what it's like do tell yourself stuff so often you actually believe in it

Why would people spend money if they aren't getting an edge? There would be no point, people who pay for power are made to feel good about their purchase by stomping the peasants.

People caught onto that.

this is the result.

Fuck off shills

>Star Wars is a massive franchise. There so much fucking money to be made.
HAHAHAHA
SW is fucking dead as brand

I don't think he's a shill, I think he's some kid who hasn't played a lot of games. Also that emphasis on graphical fidelity kinda punctuates it.

They pulled such a sudden abort because of a single phone call from Disney, this isn't EA trying to outlast some controversy before trying again. This is Disney threatening to pull the license from them if they don't make the gambling investigations and scandals that they are being named in go away that very instant.

According to the EULA, my possession of the game is limited, and any/all ownership concerning my EA/Origin account and transactions tied to said account are not possessive, and are the property of Electronic Arts. Thus:
True.

Do you really think that /nu/-Disney cares about anything other than money?

They want to sell this game and then they put some scammy shit/lootboxes back in. Now you are invested into the game and are actually going to buy them.

Disney cares about their image A LOT, they got rid of real life slot machines featuring Star Wars as soon as they got the IP for example.

>have a shitty government system
>corps can exploit it
>instead of fighting for a better government, amerimuts fight for corporations having more freedom
The brainwashing machines is on point.

It took some big dick as Disney to bitch slap the executives at EA. It would've taken years for a congressional panel to investigate and ultimately not find EA guilty of anything. Government is worthless in situations like this.

Yeah, if not for the corps you would have been forced to buy the game. Damn.

>dear government, please tell videogame developers to release games of the same quality but sell them for less money
good luck with that

>"It would've taken years for a congressional panel to investigate and ultimately not find EA guilty of anything."
>literally saying your country has a shit government that make shitty laws
>still thinks the solution is begging corps, instead of having an actual government
Like clockwork

I don't understand what you even fucking mean by this post. I'll just take it as you understand that other companies and consumers can make changes in a matter of days, rather than years like the government.

>literally saying your country has a shit government that make shitty laws
It's not the governments job to get into the affairs of fucking microtransactions in video games. Are you this much of a fucking brainlet? Government moves slow, painfully slow because the changes it makes are big. A single fucking company removing microstransactions is not big.

Disney wants to air this stink out before they drop their new star wars turd into theaters on Christmas day. they'll allow the gambling boxes back the instant they don't care about EA's shit being a potential hazard for their upcoming box office revenues. by then the audience might've moved on to ARK's newest DLC or PUBG's season pass expansion pack or whatever then and EA will be so sad they they'll go and liquidate dice or something.

>It's not the governments job to get into the affairs of fucking microtransactions in video games.
>It's not the governments job to get into the affairs of fucking cigarette companies if kids should smoke or not
>It's not the governments job to get into the affairs of fucking cars having seatbelts
>It's not the governments job to get into the affairs of fucking tap water not being poisonous
>It's not the governments job to get into the affairs of fucking toy games having radioactive components

EA and other companies are testing various ways they can literally fuck people's minds up to the point that people will sell their their cars, furniture etc. or steal from people to get money to pay for microtransactions.

>Sup Forums defends microtransactions now

yikes

one of those things is not like the other

>video games cause lung cancer
>video games can kill you violently with high speed impacts
>video games can poison you
>video games can be radioactive

Everyone here is against it except 2-3 guys

>darth vader not being available in your shooting game is exactly the same thing as smashing through your windshield and hurtling off an overpass
if only.

This board has been taken over by Sony & EA viral marketers

I'm sure most people are against it except EA shills, falseflaggers and contrarians since reddit hates them too.

Gambling addiction is a serious financial threat.

Any news regarding the Disney/EA communication? As far as I know, they were given a notice by the Belgium and Dutch authorities that they would begin an investigation half a day before EA made their statement today.

>MOM CALL THE GOVERNMENT
>I BOUGHT THE SATAN CARDS AGAIN

You realise that your government already regulates gambling for other kinds of games, right?

>they were given a notice by the Belgium and Dutch
I really feel sorry for people who put any faith in those two cucknations doing anything about this. Disney simply doesn't want its biggest brand to be associated with so much negative press. Disney OWNS Star Wars, EA was just given the rights to use it for a certain amount of time. If you were a owner and rented your house, you wouldn't come over and talk to the crack head renter who is pissing off the neighbors?

>open my magic booster pack
>three of my potential cards are stickers
>thought I pulled two real cards but they're just sleeves to cover mine with
>one is a small mp3 player that plays richard garfield's voice whenever I win
>my guaranteed rare+ card is... a rare

>get OTKed at locals by some shitter running a cheese meta deck
>get frustrated, say 'man fuck this I'm out'
>the card shop owner furiously runs up to me, grabs my deck and card collection, and throws it in a fire for "being toxic"

Just looking for some hard sources. If the Dutch league gets involved, that pretty much counts in the EU to follow suit. I don't disagree that Disney would crack down on that harder than a plumber in summer, but it seems more likely that EA saw the smoke and decided to pull the damage control lever.
