I tried playing Konquest mode a few months ago, only now in my age do I realize that it was the mother of all tutorials disguised as something genuine... with a little lore sprinkled around.
MK Armageddon did it better, but it wasn't fun. 3D MKs had the weirdest music.

I just bought MKXL and honestly I'm impressed with all the single player content, it would be the best MK to date if it wasn't for all the dlc(which the XL edition fixes).
The old Tekken in the ps2 had some pretty rad single player too.

Really loved SC3 for its single player campaign. Also it had those unique fighting styles that never made it to another SC game.
