Why? I mean yes, the 10 year old sprites are not fitting for this day and age anymore and look bad, I totally agree with that but the fighting looks very solid like Blazblue's.
It's definitely not very technical and more like a fun casual thing but that's a given for tag team games and they're keeping the characters pretty much themselves.
